YES we did. The "spin" is weather or not those who were in the know believed the factuality of their information. True or not those at pearl were not even warned to be alert. And anyone who was ever in the military knows how the brass loves an alert. I didn't BUY any of the info I got. It comes from reading newspapers and listening to the radio news. Mostly before the rightwing bought all the airspace. Now the press are simply the lapdogs of the administration. I am well aware the government spys on all of us. I know I sound harsh but look at history. The queen of england is a german. Don't you smell a rat there? I believe in SOME conspiracies because the chain of events is too complex to be random or only known by one person.
I know I come off harsh but seriously look at the last 30 years and what has happened in our own government. Just a coincidence that the most powerful DEMEOCRATS were given the anthrax packs? Only a very high tech lab could have made them. What happened to the investigation? It just stopped? No conclusions? This was done by a GOVERNMENT, not some guy in a cave. The question wich government.
rd while I do disagree with you on this please keep posting! Your posts are very thought provoking! Incidentally I am a republican. We actually need a relatively strong central government to plan and keep our country from following the "fads" of current opinion. I truly feel this administration and the ones before it have become "drunk" (for loss of a better word) on their power.

You need to read a history book Iran-contra took place after Reagan took office.It would not have been Illegal until after the hostages were taken in Iran and they weren't released until after Reagan took office.It was still legal to get arms to the Iranians while Carter was

Bravo! Excellent posts. Thank you for telling it like it is. I also appreciate your bringing to everyone's attention Jimmy Carter's bravery. He has some serious balls to do some of the things he has said and done. It takes great courage to be honest in a dishonest world. And it took guts to go to TMI and find out what was going on. Yes, Wussboy Bush the AWOL coward would have been running away like it has been all these years. Bushboy has been running away from reality while trying to prove its manhood. I'll never forget the Mission Accomplished thing with the flight suit--what an embarrassment and an insult to our military! Best of all, Carter has the balls to talk to the knuckleheads in the Middle East even when he was told not to.
Well, Reagan was a criminal. Nuff said. There hasn't been a noncriminal Republican president since Gerry Ford, who came out against Wussboy Bush not long before he died. | |

I have the highest admiration for Carter however for standing up, in his waning years, for what he knows is right, speaking "inconvenient truths" (to borrow Al Gore's movie title) about Israel's treatment of the Arabs, and opening real dialogue with people instead of just automatically writing them off and shutting them out. Clearly that "cold war" type of approach has not worked, with regards to the Israel / Palestine conflict. Or with Iran either for that matter. And you can bomb poorer nations and unseat regimes (as seen in Iraq) for geo-strategic or even ideological reasons, but you cannot in the end successfully pacify and unify them.
Furthermore, as far as Carter speaking to Hamas officials, does the US gov't not say it wishes for there to be democracy in the Middle East?? Hamas was democratically elected. It seems the US gov't only is willing to support democracy in the Muslim countries so long as they approve of the results, then? For if not they will either work to internationally isolate and effectively starve out the resulting ruling party, if they can, or even possibly seek covert means of overthrowing the results of said democracy.
Most if not all of the regimes the US is "allied" with in the Muslim world are in fact anti-democratic and repressive (Egypt's Mubarak, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan), and this admin here in particular has perhaps wondered why they appear so grossly hypocritical in preaching neo-con "think tank" theory about "spreading freedom and democracy in the Middle East" while at the same time propping up and aiding the repressive and corrupt regimes that the people see in their midst ruling over them.
The fact is true dem0cracy in many of these places would lead to results the US gov't could not allow to stand, for various geo-political and strategic reasons. Which is I suppose understandable, in a way; but then quit being so nauseatingly rhetorical about the "spread of freedom and democracy", etc, when in fact the only country to so far benefit from such idealism has been Iraq and we see how difficult that's been, and furthermore we can't help but question what the true ulterior motives were behind that. Because simply freeing the Iraqis was not the main stated goal of the Iraq invasion , after all. Congress did not approve use of force based on that. It only became more prominent as sort of a desirable "side effect" after it was obvious that there were no "WMD", etc. | |

Would you please look at a calendar.If you did you would know that GHW bush was not in government service when the helicopters went down in Iran.He would not have had access to the information that you say he gave to the Russians ,unless someone from the Carter Administration breached protocol.Iran-contra occurred in1985 and Reagan was president when it happened and over a dozen administration officials went to jail and served time.Please,Please have your chronology right before you give us more conspiracy theories.

1, he sends the military over and let them die, he does not have family over there fighting for our country so why should he care. I think he should have to send some of his family members over there and see how he likes it.
2. he does not have to pay for his gas. So, he does not care, the only thing he had to pay for was his daughters wedding. if he had to pay for gas things would change but they wont. He has ruined America. Its time we get a Woman in the white house to clean his mess up!!!! | |

It would be poetic justice to see Bushboy in handcuffs as it* leaves the White House. While I do not support the death penalty, a certain sense of irony would occur if it is put to death for its murderous actions. It executed over 150 people in Texas when it was governor. And some screwballs actually call that thing "pro-life" when it may well have killed a few people who did not commit the crime And that thing sent thousands of our finest troops to their deaths for a war started on lies, and killed innocent bystander Iraqis who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time
Scott McClellan has written a book that is very damning of Bushboy and its minions. Hooray to Bugliosi and McClellan: these men may well help bring about Bushboy's trial and conviction for murder. I would love to see Bushboy rot in jail for the rest of its earthly life. After all it should have been sent to Leavenworth when it went AWOL from the National Guard.

That thing never attended any of the funerals of the fallen soldiers of the war that it started. Disgusting! Even Sen. Kennedy has the decency to attend funerals for the soldiers to provide comfort to their families. Granted the senator has made mistakes in his life, but please do give him credit for at least having the decency to honor the fallen soldiers and to be there for the grieving families, unlike Bushboy who doesn't want to learn how its war has impacted people's lives. The same people think that fluoride in the drinking water is good for you and the genetically altered food we eat is also good for you. As far as September 11, I think to best some up the matter is to watch a movie called Loose Change. All the information is there about 9/11 and it is a shut case. It is very educational and should be watched by those of you who want to dispute 9/11 without any evidence to back you up. When carter sent helicopters to rescue the hostages the russians shot them down. The barter medium was heroin and this barter continued until 1985 when it was exposed. The betrayal of the rescue force and iran contra are both traceable to ghb. bush even then was manuvering to be president. His best chance was to ride in on reagan and then kill him and get promoted. Notice an oil fanatic shot reagan? Where does the bush clan get their power? OIL Yes this is all circumstantial but is sure is uncanny how all the pieces fit together. Look at the arab prisoner abuse in abugrab (forgive the spelling plz). The only people prosecuted were enlisted! Where the heck were their supervisors. When I was in the service I was taught to resist illegal orders. The officers and non coms even made sure our socks were correctly folded. Does the US military not have oversite anymore.
I love this country and am really troubled by the trading of our status as the best for that of the most dangerous! Look how great we could be and instead we allow our aristocrats to sink to these depths! I didn't serve to become like the russians!
