OK, I will do the honorable thing and give you a straight, direct open and honest answer....,

It's to get the hell out of the dating scene!

I don't want it, don't like it, or look forward to it. But I realize it is part of the process to find a match for a committed relationship.

...Light bulb moment.... I think that about sums it up for most of us....geez, why didn't I say that?

Now that is a good question. Glad you asked, wish I had a pat answer. Personally I had no goal when I came on except to find someone to hang out with and maybe let things develop. My situation has not been real good for that and I have had zero luck for the most part. met some nice people on the site, and a nut or two, but on the whole i think the brave new world of dating in the new century is a bit much.

i do think all of us need to be pretty honest about stuff. and possibly less judgemental of others who may be less so. i have enjoyed my time on pof but truth to tell the old parrothead is tired and may have to take a break and come back at the end of the summer after i get my head cleared. guess this is kinda a goodbye. going to write a few friends on here and let things go for a bit. but for those reading this post dont give up. sometimes its a while before you find that person your waiting for but they are worth the wait and so are you. the old parrothead signing off

....Ah ha, you caught me...but in all honesty I prefer to just date for now, someday yes.... As I said many times in other posts, the next committed relationship I enter will probably be my last, I don't want to jump into anything... I want to take my time, I want to be sure.

Hopefully, I will be fortunate enough to meet "the guy" BEFORE I enter the retirement home haha

My goal is to meet a man who will eliminate my need to belong on a dating site (then I can come back just for these rockin' forums!)

My goal is to meet a nice man to date. Never know where it may go from there. I date for fun, companionship and always the possibility that it may lead to more, if only friendship. Meeting from a dating site just broadens my horizons. I don't rely solely on dating sites because there's a whole real world out there, too.

I don't call it "dating" any more after a discussion of whether or not saying it is a date means you are going to have sex. Geeze Louise, I must be gettin' old. So I have already stopped "dating" completely until I figure out what the heck that means.

My first goal is to meet interesting ladies, ones that interest me and I them.
My second goal is to spend more time with the interesting ladies I meet.

Whatever happens or doesn't after that is out of my hands so I don't concern myself with it. The first goal seems easy enough. I meet a lady here from time to time. The second has proven elusive for one reason or another.

Now if Mae was not so far away ...

My 'real' goal is to find someone with whom I can share a membership of two in a mutual admiration society.

Continue "dating" Wayward - it stills mean just dating LOL You just can't help what others read into things and a simple "no" fixes any misconceptions.

...the real goal is to meet a compatible man while I'm still young and sentient enough to care.....

Barring that, the forums are fun!

To make friends. Grab a coffee, a drink or even breakfast together. If that leads somewhere, I am all for it. I have enjoyed the forums in my short time here.

Waywardseeker:

To me, dating is just that. Dating does not mean having sex. It means spending time with someone whom I have found interesting enough to spend time with. We may go out, or just stay at my home listening to music, talking and generally having fun getting to know each other, going for a long walk and enjoying nature together, etc.

I don't know at which point in our society dating became having sex, but I know that some see it that way. Not me!

Well, I haven't really been on any since I moved. I have gone out a few times but it was just to get something to eat. I don't really have any goals for dating right now other than just to have fun. I would like to make new friends in the process as I consider myself a pro at developing long term relationships. But only if she doesn't resist.

How about just a second date that was better than the first??????.......

OT.......Hopefully dating is taking the many and getting it down to the few, and hopefully the one that is truly "real".......

Just my opinion........

i have no goal for dating; i am guilty of the fact that i accept lunch or dinner dates with persons that i know i will never be intimate with, but i`m not guilty of the fact that aside not being attracted in the physical sense to them, i do enjoy their company immensely, as long as they are able to talk about different topics and on subjects that i`m willing to learn from. Is that wrong?

I don't have a goal, but if someone reads my profile and wants to go on a date and I feel the same, why not.

I don't know anything about football... but dating from dating site...it is real game...
My scores are 0:0 forever...because " players" from men side don't play for the same goal...what I want to play...and win...of course...
