I see nothing wrong with that, I have read your comment and many others on here, and being a veteran of these sights I can say that I think we all came aboard, originally,
with the hope of finding that elusive someone that is a little more attractive than we can, ourselves, attract, as most of us probably had this goal, it becomes apparent, to me at least, why we are now having this discussion.

Holy mackerel there Andy! I never meant to suggest that I thought dating required sex. Only that the word has been overburdened with a lot of meanings. I told my mother, 85 years young, that I was dating on-line. She got quiet and then said, "Wouldn't it be more interesting if you met someone in person?"

What I mean is that all this slicing and dicing of reality so we can slap on labels here and there does not interest me. Are we "dating" yet? Is this the "second date" or the "first?" OMG we are in "a relationship???" It must have happened when I was cleaning the toilet!

So I use meet for all of it. We meet in a forum, meet by e-mail, meet with I-M, meet on the phone, meet for coffee, meet at a restaurant for dinner, meet over breakfast at the diner (Where is Dr. Seuss when I need him?) Since I stopped being anxious about what to call whatever it is that we are doing at this very moment, I have been a lot more relaxed. My goal has become clear. I want to meet ... uhm ... ladies. How profound!

“What is your real goal for dating?”

To get laid.

When I go on dates, I’m always hoping that some sort of mutual attraction will be there. It’s not always the case, but it’s always the goal. And from a mutual attraction, I always hope that I’ve met someone that, from that attraction, something more personal will develop. I’m always content to have made a new friend (if that’s what happens), but the ultimate goal is always to meet someone where an intimate relationship will develop and thrive. Again, that’s seldom the case, but it is always the goal. And if an intimate relationship develops between myself and a woman, eventually I’m going to get laid. So, by logical reasoning, my real goal for dating is to meet someone where something will develop that I get laid.

Yes, I know ... ‘tis a sad realization ... but I’ve learned to live with it.

My goal was to find the prince I deserve, instead I found sex starved, overweight men who were all treated badly by someone.
History let it go, live to day and just for once lets get through lunch without talking about sex.

to cdn guy, your observations on the goal of dating Really made me laugh out loud; and the best part of it, it`s because it`s all true. People can say "looking for my soulmate"that`s a hoot, what they mean of course, is to find someone compatible ,manageable, who hopefully will be good in bed.And by the way, have you been laid yet?[kidding]

I wonder...do you have real goal for dating from dating site...and what is it?

My ultimate goal for dating is to find a man to love.
Someone to be passionate about and feel like a sexy woman with. A compatible partner to share happiness with, laugh with, build a relationship with and make plans for tomorrow with. A man who I want to spend the rest of my life with and he, with me. As cliche as it may sound, I'm looking for someone to have a "date" with everyday and for the rest of our lives.

Is it number of dates you have in month...every time...with different people...or nice companion for lunch...dinner...or...anything else?

My goal is to find a mate and be done with all the hassles involved with meeting "several singles" for coffee, a drink or lunch. I'm a selective dater and not into serial dating or numerous dates. I have turned down dates if I don't think we're a match. Why waste his or my time?

In the meantime, que sera..sera. What will be, will be. I'm happily biding my time.

Hi! good question..
My goal is to meet some nice people in this journey of life..
With all the problems in the world and in here in the USA, politics all over the news...it's refreshing just to sit and listen to nature, chat effortlessly with a friend..
yes my prioritys have changed alot from what I thought I wanted but for the better!

I enjoy saying hello to a stranger, talking to a neighbor and visiting family..now if you have a partner who enjoys that to..all the better.
When you see someone you don't know say hello..you might find a real diamond in the myriad of folks too busy to stop and say hello..

My dating goal is to not date - of course! When I got married the last time that was supposed to be forever, "til death do we part". And, then he did. Part, that is! So now I'm stuck looking for my best friend - again! so we can grow old together and enjoy sitting on the front porch in our rockers when we're 80 or 90 years old!

Well, there's nothing wrong with keeping your head in the clouds as long as both feet are on the ground.

LOL! No goals for "dating" -- I *hate* dating. . . . Always did. Goal? To spend time with someone I care about. Which prolly means a few dates, but boy it's good to get past that!

My goal for being on POF has always been to find the other. Think that may have been accomplished, but am hanging on for friends and forums. Nice place this is.

SEX LOL. To find someone who wants me for me. To find someone who I think about all the time I am not with her. Someone who makes me laugh and be happy with.

Dustyknight, so true.
The 'journey of life' becomes shorter as we age and really realize what we want in our lives. And if by some chance we only find friendship, then it is one more person in our life. And besides, each of us has a different intention toward life...and how we treat people. So, stopping to 'smell the roses' as we search....important
