Dear inmortal,

The only thing that will cause damage to your ear drums is your woman as she farts (I mean moans...LOL) to your plunging in and out of her...................

I don't get it.

What's the pleasure in having your ear drums bounced out of your head, not to mention anyone elses' within a half-mile radius?
They really like music. Chances are because you are complaining about it they like music you don't.

So loud you can hear it from half a mile away is rude.

Off topic:
If you think loud music in a 1976 rust bucket is bad... you really have to see the Boxes, bubbles and donks down here in Florida. The basic premise is take a ghetto 2 or 4 door car, put a 2-5 inch lift kit on it, throw on some 22 inch or 24 inch chromes spinners with low profile tires (basically the biggest they can afford or RENT that's right they have rent-a-rims here), put in some lcd video panels in the headrests and paint it some odd color. Bonus points if you paint your area code on it. I'm serious about the area code. My favorite of all of them was this one buick regal, 82 or so that had child head sized skittles painted on it.
The end result is a hot wheels like abomination that can't corner worth a darn and rides not so good. But it looks.... Like a hot wheels.

I love all kinds of music from classic rock, blues, rap, old school funk, big band, classical, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, dance, top 40.... my complaint has everything to do with your second statement. When all you hear is the "doof, doof" (thank you cdflash for that!! muah!) of the bass line, no matter what the style of music is, the song is completely obliterated by the bass.

OT: I would love to have seen that '82 Regal.... even as a child I would rather play with hot wheels instead of a doll house!!

this topic is slowly seeming like the baby boomers r making constant excuses about what they started...

loud stereos have been around 4 many years.... even when muscle cars rumbled north America. its funny how its nothing but old, Caucasians blaming black ppl 4 everything.

THATS Y I SAID THE COMMENT ABOUT THE WHITE ROPE...

CAUCASIANS STARTED THE LOUD STEREOS, black ppl just keep making it popular...

thats the catch 22

n about the respect junk...

respects not handed out on a silver platter.... shut up n earn it.
but to u elderly ppl i take it money does grow on tress?

But it is also about the joy of listening to music at a loudness that blurs your vision, and may make you or others vomit!

Is anybody else going to point out how unbelievably dangerous this is while driving? I, for one, don't want to end up in a wheelchair for the rest of my life (or worse, dead) because some idiot blaring his music so loud that his vision blurred crashed into me.

And for the record, I'm 21 and feel this way, so age has nothing to do with it.

Little Wing....

You are the only one making this about race and I am going to ask you nicely to stop.

I had a beautiful muscle car.... a '72 Cutlass 442.... with an awesome stereo in it..... and this wasn't that long ago either.... my ex totalled it about 8 years ago.

Just because I had the ability to vibrate the crap out of the people around me, I chose not to because it is respectful of others.
Sure, baby boomers started this.... I won't deny it... but we also understand that there is a time and a place for everything and it is rude to impose on others in any way, shape or form.

If you would like to continue to debate this civilly, please do so without the attitude and racist remarks.

*scratches her head*

This is a race issue now? WTF? No one send me that memo...

OT: I love having my iPod in my car and not having to search for the music that I like on the radio, but I don't play it too loud... Music from other cars don't bother me much... most of the time it's hot in FL, so my windows are closed. However, every now and then someone will drive down the street that I live on, and their music is so loud that it sorta makes me jump a little... Am not too happy about it, but I don't really find it offensive either.

If any part of me is vibrating, I would prefer it to be from something a little more pleasurable than listening to the bass line of an indiscernible song coming from someone else's vehicle

^^ Ditto to that.

I knew a guy who loved it when the kids drove around, stereo booming, and they had big stickers for every brand-name of each stereo component plastered on their back window.
This guy used to steal car stereos for extra cash....
Nothing like advertising it.
Funny thing was, according to this guy, the systems were worth thousands, but most of the time, no alarm system installed.
Those kooky kids.

Generally toolboxes now-a-days have rims and stereo's worth more than the car itself.

I play music loud because I like to listen to it loud, on that same note, I'm also not some ignorant prick who does it with other people in my truck with me, nor if Im sitting at a stoplight next to some dude with his window down. Common courtesy goes a long way in this world, and people who don't believe that merely show how far they have been left behind.

Did you know that they actually make this kind of music? in Lowrider magazines you can buy these ultra bass cd's that are basically doof doof doof *bad lyrics* doof doof doof..

Off topic:
Some club DJ's are really guilty of mixing the music this way and playing it too loud as well to preserve their "rep". The funny thing is except for right on the dance floor most people in clubs want to be able to talk if they feel like it over a small table and not have to yell to hold a conversation. At non-dance clubs the music doesn't have to be pulsate your kidney's loud, people just want to talk, hang out and have a good time. At dance clubs the two main problems are sound system setup so that the dance floor is pounding but the rest of the place isn't and a lack of DJ volume control. 90% of dj's when given a choice will pump the system as loud as they can get it rather than the level that is good for a particular club. Suggesting politely or not so politely that they turn it down is a stunning blow to fragile DJ ego.

I am a huge music enthusiast, but I don't like those boom boxes either.Mostly because its mostly young people playing rap,and I'm not a rap fan. Now,if the stereo was blasting 80's metal,or something to that effect,it would be Ok.When I was a teen ager,I got a stereo for my car that was 50 watts, and it was great.I loved how it sounded when I played a tape of a live concert at just over half volume, just enough power to bring out the distortion like a real concert
Now,kids are putting 1000 watt systems(or maybe more,I don't keep up on that stuff anymore). No wonder they say "huh" when you talk to them You only have one pair of ear drums, why waste them.

I think we're getting way off topic here.

I think it all comes down to the consideration of how other people feel, not just oneself. Any person that makes noise so loud that others around can hear (whether its a car, headphones, cell phone conversations, etc) ought to give consideration to the "externalities" - third parties who may or may not appreciate the noise being made.

It speaks volumes to me when people become all arrogant about keeping the volume loud with no consideration to others - it generally means they don't care how others feel. I already admitted in an earlier post that i'm a culprit for playing my headphones loudly in the gym, HOWEVER if a person is within range of my "noise" then i will turn my ipod down... its just plain manners.

Same deal - I share a common wall with the flat next to me. To spare my neighbour the awful screeches as i practice my guitar, i'll practice while wearing my headphones. If i know my neighbour is out, i'll play through the amp.

Don't get me wrong, i love loud music. I went and saw Bullet for my Valentine, Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold (all playing the same gig) and it rocked, and left me with tinnitus for a day or so, BUT I wouldn't want to live my entire life in a rock concert!

I don't even care about that. I'm all for people playing music (somewhat) loudly. I really don't care. But when they're riding around in a mobile earthquake generator, that's a problem. If I can hear this roaring thud and rattling, it needs to be toned way down. If it's actually audible music rather than just the roaring thud and rattle, I don't care as long as it's not too loud. I'm not a fan or rap, but no issues for people playing it at a reasonable level.

I actually went to the mall fairly recently and there was someone with one of those things. You could feel it from a few hundred feet away (hearing shouldn't even need to be mentioned). I'm surprised it didn't set off every ****in alarm in the lot. There's no excuse for that.

I'll admit that my music is somewhat loud, but you can also hear over it fine, especially if you're outside the vehicle. Then again, I also seem to be more intelligent than the general population as well....

add the fact they still want cheap insurance so they don't inform them about it so if it is stolen, u just lost all the money.

PrinceVelveeta:
the "doof doof" junk that u speak off is really db test beats.

the whole point of the loud system is how much air is moved. take the sub out of the box n u don't hear n e thing. unless treble.

42 4 U: 80s metal lost its true meaning after they broke metal down in 5 billion sub genre.
watch Metal : a head bangers journey. n u will see how its done.

little wing this subject is about loud ear breaking bass slaming music. i am over 40 and yes i i had a loud system in my cars over the years but never turned it up so loud that i pissed other people off i like my hearing. and i ve been to more concerts over the years then i care to remember and i still have my hearing fully as for the comment about black people and whites your the only one who made it a race issue. rap and hip hop music intentionally makes there music to produce more base sounds on the system. and as for the crack about adults. Hell we done more seen more lived more then you will ever have and we still got our hearing and even if some of us dont its not from blaring music in the cars.

Hi Laughinglibra,
The whole trend towards boomity-boom music started because the average vehicle stereo makes Van Halen sound like Laurence Welk.(with the gay bubbles) Car and truck manufacturers are so cheapskate with the stereos that parts stores started selling real speakers and stereos to compensate. Demand increased for stronger and louder systems over the years, and now we have systems which are larger than the cars which haul them.

On a personal note, guilty as charged,I love my music loud, and I ~~c l o s e~~the windows to capture every hot to trot decibel of my ,IMO, great rock collection. My CD player(which was already replaced once under warranty) is showing signs of fatigue, and I will upgrade with something better, and probably upgrade with better speakers, too-fortunately a task which, given the horrendous quality of the manufacturer's equipment, will not be too difficult or expensive.

If the sound escapes my passenger compartment because of a skimpy soundproofing and insulating paradigm on behalf of the manufacturer of the truck, so be it. Perhaps we should pressure manufacturers to build their vehicles better, then you won't have to listen to my music at your stop at the intersection.

ROCK ON! WOO HOO!

Nothing is to much to ask, expecting it may be.

Like I said, as a courtesy I don't do it in the city or suburban areas.

This simple sentence, written with things like "r" for are, or "ez" for easy. Speaks louder for the apparent heights laziness has actually risen to, than any booming doof doof system ever could.

Little Wing - exactly WHAT part of the phrase 'consideration for others' do you NOT comprehend? You like your music loud? Fine - that doesn't mean everyone else in a 300 yard radius has to like it, too. What complete elitist garbage to spew, telling people if they don't like it they need to freakin' roll up their windows. Who the hell are YOU to call people "lazy" because they don't feel they should HAVE to 'roll up their windows for 2-4 minutes at a light?' It's about RESPECT and CONSIDERATION for the other people who ALSO live on this earth. Yes, believe it or not, it's NOT just about you.

How utterly ignorant - but oh so typical - of the "me me me" generation.
