It was all quite enjoyable reading everyones points of view, then wallop,it all gets messy.Well done,Miz. For the record i'm a Chelsea fan and i can't understand why a centre half was taking the most important kick in my clubs history, captain or not. Bet Avram Grant wishes JT had stayed in the centre circle.I do!

| Was John Terry A Big Baby For Crying After The CL Final?.. Posted: 5/26/2008 8:12:58 AM | Anyway, back to the OP's point!!!
I am not a Chelsea or John Terry fan, but I do have some sympathy for his tears. In my view he was upset because as captain he felt he had let his teammates down.
In reply to the comments that a penalty should never be missed:-
I have played to a fairly good standard, good enough to be paid, & I once turned down Newcastle because to me it's a game not a career, & by coincidence was a centre half, ( well sweeper, but not many can remember that position), & captain of most of the teams I played for. I was also the regular penalty taker. I didn't miss for years, then one day in a fairly unimportant game the keeper saved one. I was shocked to say the least, & for whatever reason I missed the next 3 I took, one in a final which meant we lost the cup. It's not a technique thing, it's a mental thing. For myself I cared not, but for my teammates, who had their dreams shattered because of my inabilty on those occasions, I was absolutely gutted.
So I for one think his tears have been misconstrued.

| Was John Terry A Big Baby For Crying After The CL Final?.. Posted: 5/26/2008 8:34:25 AM | However Was John Terry a big baby for crying and throwing his toys out the pram?.....
Yes. He is a Big baby. Its not like he has lost a weeks wages, hes still getting paid. If he was losing a weeks wages then he is entitled to cry.
May be when he slipped he hurt his botty and his mother was not there to kiss it better.

| Was John Terry A Big Baby For Crying After The CL Final?.. Posted: 5/26/2008 12:04:36 PM | | I was also a centre half and took both penalties and free kicks around the area for my teams. The only penalty I ever missed was in a training ground shoot out when I tried to blast one instead of placing it. There is nothing wrong with a defender taking penalties..... think Andreas Brehme, Stuart Peirce, Steve Bruce, Denis Irwin...... | |

your misreading what i have said and twisting it. My brothers are younger then me and not into football, i am single. i never had a dad, my football was from the play ground, where you were either red or blue, never a manc red. My mother was a red but never went to games once she left Liverpool. (why the hell do i need to justify this??)
The atmosphere is what creates part of the game. The adrenaline in the big games such as the north west derby is one of the biggest, i enjoy the atmosphere, but the second a prick next to me starts being a prick i tell him he is a prick, simple. If you have the likes of your own with arms out stretched like aeroplanes then them lot are bound to start calling the other teams fans for what ever, you can have an atmosphere without that type of goading. there is enough of a dislike between most fans for that not to be necessary in creating an atmosphere.
You can have the dislike to other fans, mine is the arrogance of allot of other fans that pees me off. the die hard fans of any team i have no problem with, glory hunters on the other hand. A good friend is a manc STH, we get on fine, why? because we respect each other and each others opinions.
As for grounds, yes, there has been an increase in bad behaviour again, surely its back at one of your derby's??? Although its not what it was like 30 years ago, 15 years ago it was safer, and i went with younger family members then. Again, i will point out, when i take my kids we are above the away section. Today, is by far a sunday school choir to 30 years ago, but not to 5, 10 or even 15.
We are all entitled to an opinion, and being a woman and knowing our history will never be enough for a testosterone filled, football is a mans game attitude.

the rivalry is there, even if its harmless as it was then, however, its not he case any more, the last derby there was trouble following. you wanted one over to have the bragging rights for the year.

Posted: 5/26/2008 1:24:03 PM | | Football is a sport and if it's enjoyed then I don't care if I'm talking to a man or a woman about it personally. I just hate the people who view another teams fans/players/staff as a target rather than a rival. Bring back the atmosphere at my favourite ever game (Coventry V Tottenham, 1987 FA Cup final). The fans mingled, sang against each other, bantered and had a drink together before and after the game. The Tottenham fans stayed and applauded Coventry as they lifted the cup and the match had a great spirit to it, with both teams knowing they were part of a very special day. Oh, I am a Coventry fan by the way so I am used to having the urine extracted from my person in a variety of humourous ways.

there's nothing wrong with showing emotion whether male or female
Well said...for some people (the ones without massive ego's) its hard to hide thier emotions.
I remember a quote from an old friend who used to post on here...
"I don't trust anyone who doesnt cry"
I agree.
Oh, I don't do football but I do cry...happy or sad.

As a Hitchin Town/Peterborough United/Sheffield United fan I find the Premier League a total farce as it's all about 'mooooooney' (in a Harry Enfield characterization sort of way)
And John Terry has plenty.
Just remember that JT parked his car in a 'disabled parking space' and he wasn't even feigning an injury at the time.

No woman wants a bloke who cries all the time and I wouldnt say they found it attractive at all. However, (in my own experience) women are attracted to men who are in touch with thier emotions and arent afraid to show them.
So...
Yay whatever ... you stick to ya macho bullshite and stay single, i'll carry on as I am & stay loved.
If i missed a penalty in front of that many people under that much pressure i'd sure feel like crying!

Bramhall Lane for instance......! I think your taxis arrived blademate [with the rest of your average attendence in it] All together now.....a 1, a2 , a1 ,2, 3, 4 " You should of come in a taxi, come in a Taaaxi, you should of come in a in a Taaaxi .
Interesting comment johnnycomelately1,
Have a look at the average attendances for this seasons championship, you will find that even though the team has performed poorly consistently, Shefield United are the best supported team there, with an average only a couple of thousand below capacity.
Yes I would call Terry a wus to his face, apart from the fact you will see from my first post on this subject I was on his side & sympathised with him.

Ok fair enough. I'm man enough to stand up and admit when I'm wrong. It looks on reflection that I may have been a little harsh in my comments about the taxi. Ive cancelled the taxi and re-ordered a 12 seater mini - bus. [Johnny rather nervously looks over his shoulder, puts on his tin hat before breaking into a sprint away from the scene]
Yes I would call Terry a wus to his face
No offence [ I'm not the type of person to deliberately offend anybody ] but that would make you stupid rather than brave surely.
