| Janesville area meet and greet. Finns it is Aug 15th Posted: 7/23/2008 9:04:32 AM | Morkie1, if she is the one who is going to do this for you, needs to create a new thread with a title like" August 15 - Finn's, Newville WI - Meet & Greet " and include the information she had in here post on the previous page. Basically cover the 5 W's (who, what, where, when, why), cover charges (she said none), link to location if there, references to nearby hotels and restaurants. Provide phone number TO THE LOCATION in case people get lost, etc.
After your thread is created, send email to "trappedonbayst". As him nicely to please move your party thread into the events area and get it scheduled. Provide the link to your thread that you can copy from the "www" bar in your browser and paste into your message so he doesn't have to go searching for it.
When that is done your event will disappear from the forums and will be located under the WI Party Threads topic up at the top of the WI forums in green. You will now be able to click on the post and you will have permission to edit it. You will need to provide the zip code of the location so the POF system knows whose inboxes to show the listing above in green. You should also give "Dan" (or someone else you trust) permission to access the thread as a co-host, in case your computer blows up or something so that someone else has a way to keep the thread up to date, make any changes to the plans, delete posts not belonging there, etc.
Then just sit back and wait for people to sign up. Once there are more than 20 signed up you will have the ability to send ONE group message (so save it for something important). POF will also send an email reminder a few days before the party.
If you need more info than this (and you should do it anyway) go up to the green party thread list at the top of the WI forums and read the rules and regulations for hosting a party.
Hope this helps, Don | |

| Janesville area meet and greet. Finns it is Aug 15th Posted: 7/23/2008 10:24:02 PM | Hey, good job :o)
I wouldn't mind coming down there but August is a really crappy month for me and I'm going to be (probably) swapping out a phone system on that Saturday. I'll have to think really hard if I want to run one that Friday night and then possibly pull an all-nighter yet on Saturday.... Time will tell!
I wonder if Carla, Brie and Cathy are still floating around on this site from Janesville. They were part of our "original" group that kicked off one of the first get togethers in Hartford back in early 2006.... It would be nice to see them again.....

| Janesville area meet and greet. close to Madison & Rockford Posted: 7/29/2008 8:05:43 PM | Oh yeah - I forgot that. If you host an event it's best to open up all your email restrictions so anyone can contact you - at least for the duration - it makes it a lot easier. Both sexes and all ages (I do 18+), and no restrictions on other stuff. If you have a problem there's always the block button :o)
If you have your sex set to men then no females can contact you to ask questions, if you restrict the age it's the same deal, etc....
You have a really good group signed up for this early on! Good for you guys :o)

| Janesville area meet and greet. close to Madison & Rockford Posted: 9/29/2008 3:05:20 PM | This thread is really dated so no one but you may be reading it!
Basically you find a place/event with something to do in your area and do some rough planning (check with owner of place, find out costs, places to eat nearby, hotels, etc). Decide on a date.
Then create a new thread with the following in the title:
City - Location, Date, What it is
ex: TIMBUKTU WI - BLOOMERS - 11/10/08 - MEET & GREET
In the thread provide the name, address & Phone number of the location Anything special going on or you have planned (Why should they go)
Names/locations of a few places to eat
Names/locations or a few nearby places to stay (that you would use yourself!)
Any other pertinent information, cover charges, activity fees, etc.
READ THIS FIRST: http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts1156438.aspx
Then E-mail trappedonbayst, or bigfish, or myself and ask them to schedule the event so it shows up in the inbox.
Then watch the people sign up, post updates and answer questions as needed, etc...
Hope that helps. | |
