I love a man's smile. I can trip and fall flat on my face if he has a dazzling grin. A real weakness! Beautiful teeth come with that package.

It really does depend on what you mean by "flawed". If crooked, that doesn't bother me. (Have those myself, and I find some crooked flaws quite endearing.) But flaws from poor hygiene or something along those lines? Something else entirely, and should be checked by a dentist. :)

I love how people just comment, and dont even bother to read previous page. So at least they writing on the same page..
But ya flawed teeth ok by me. White teeth, and regularly brushed and took care of, is what matters.

I mean it's just like doing the dishes.
You make food, eat. Then clean it up..

Why wouldn't you clean your mouth after too..?

Or wash your hands after there dirty.. Pretty straight forward.

But I've seen some pretty bad teeth out there..

wow Felanine I am suprised someone could be this shallow. You really want someone who has perfectly straight white teeth. Good luck with looking for that one. I doubt you will ever find or stay with anyone for very long.

I'm a teeth person; I guess I was very fortunate that my parents shelled out the money when I was young for braces and my dentist has the every 6 month date with my mouth.

I know not everyone was that fortunate to have had braces as a kid or had parents take them to the dentist. So somewhat imperfect teeth are fine. Even if they are slightly discolored is ok as mine are due to my tea drinking - I won't give up my tea!

What I can't overlook is rotten teeth or missing teeth due to poor dental hygiene and/or smoking, gray teeth due to tetracycline and gaps between the front teeth (like Lauren Hutton).

No!.... It exudes bad health! Can't you possibly make it your own priority to get them taken care of? No, no, no, no, no. Call me superficial. I draw the line here (among other places . )

NO NO a thousand times NO....I am a dental hygienist. How about you? Would you want to kiss someone with rotten, snaggled teeth?? I think not! Teeth are an indicator of how a person takes care of their body and general health. It is not superficial to reject horrible mouth odor from decayed teeth/periodontal disease.

Modern dentistry is a wonderful thing. Get your teeth fixed instead of spending it on cars, sound systems, etc. It will help you in business and your social life too--people with nice teeth smile more often and the whole world treats them better. If you are in sales or front office, you cannot have missing, decayed, nasty teeth. Your career will never advance. Not to mention youlr dating possibilities.

This is like asking if women will overlook BO and bad hygiene. Sheesh.

It depends - most of the time I'm turned off by stained teeth, however this friend of mind does and he's so cute otherwise that I'm willing to overlook this flaw

Depends what you mean by "flawed"...if he has rotting teeth & stinky breath, no way...remember, there are ways to work out financing, if that should be the issue...also, there are dentists that specialize in working with patients that go through tremendous anxiety in the chair...there really aren't any excuses nowadays...

If he is willing to make sure his teeth are frequently and thoroughly brushed & flossed, breath always super-fresh, and harbour no fossilized bits of goo in there, I might get past the appearance.
That said, I have a visual preference for certain facial features (as many people do), so I wouldn't go for a guy whose looks utterly were not what I find attractive, even if he kept his teeth as clean as possible.

It is hygiene that will make the difference, but there also are ways to fix a poor dental arrangement .. please consider it if you suffer from ick-mouth.

I could never look past a man's flawed teeth. Teeth are an important part of a persons health. It's one of the first things that people should take care of. Good dental hygeine is vital. No one wants to kiss anyone with bad teeth or bad breath. Sorry

OP, you are asking a lot when you ask some one to overlook a jacked up grill. What is wrong with the teeth? If I see yellow teeth with dark rings near the gums or between the individual teeth I run for the hills. This is indicative of some one who hasnt visited the dentist or had their teeth cleaned in a year or more. A clean mouth is important. Also, I wonder about the rest of their body and how well-kempt it is. If the teeth arnt clean what else is not clean???????

You know I defintley agree. It's importent to take care of your teeth.

As it's the first thing someone notices.

Just curious. I'm getting braces for a year, in march. To fix my over bite, and the couple crooked teeth on the bottom..
I'm 25. would this be a turn off ?
For a girl to see a 25 year old with braces..
Any comments on kissing someone with braces..?

I don't know anything about how young people these days feel about people your age with braces, but I don't think anyone would be turned off. If she is, she's not the girl for you.

Here's a little story that might help you feel a bit less self-conscious when you get your braces. When I was in college, there was a lovely older woman also earning a business degree. She was doing all the things she felt she needed to do to improve her life after her husband passed away. She got a new hairstyle, new wardrobe, new car, and braces on her teeth. She was 64 years old and gorgeous, even with her mouth full of metal.

Oh, and I also know of at least one super attractive, confident woman on this site who has braces on her teeth and from the sounds of it, she doesn't have any trouble dating or men kissing her. Other than that, I have no clue about kissing anyone with braces because I never have, but I don't think I'd have a problem kissing a man my age with them (and I'm much much older than you).

Why can't a grown man, who earns a living, is fairy successful, care for his teeth? I'm baffled by this. I do not understand why someone wouldn't exercise proper oral hygiene. No, I do not overlook the fact that someone neglects their teeth. It shows me a lack of self-worth.

I hate to say it but I kindof agree that the teeth need to be fixed. I mean, once in a while a MINOR flaw can be seen as adding character...but really messed up shit you cant get passed...and its more than just aesthetic reasons, if teeth are all crooked and jagged and stuff, it makes them harder to brush/keep clean which leads to yellowy plaque, bacteria and worse, bad breathe!
Now who wants to kiss that?

It' s ingrained in us...one of the things we look for in a potential "mate" is healthy teeth. I don't have to have someone with a movie star smile; I just want someone who takes care of themself. If someone has yellow/brown teeth with questionable hygiene, it can tell you a lot about that person. And I certainly wouldn't want them kissing me...yech.

Yep, mondern dentistry is a wonderful thing. Its also a great money making tool.

I guess I'm a cynic but in the past 15 years I've had two operations and alot of work done to my teeth and each time the dentist said that it would fix my issues. I still have terrible teeth.

I have two issues with my teeth. Discoloration and crooked/gaps. Now, I've never done any drugs or smoked in my life. The color issue stems from the minerals in the well water I drank growing up. The rest resulted from actually listening to some horrible advice that the dentist gave when I was younger. And by the time my teeth were messed up we had become too poor to afford any treatment.

Now I'm looking at trying to get them fixed but its going to take at least two years, braces, whitening treatments, major jaw surgury and upwards of 20k. And even after that they can't say for sure that I will look good.

I could get dentures but it seems that women hate those too and think they are disgusting.

What I'm wondering after reading this thread is it even worthwhile trying to find someone right now or in the next few years. Or at all if this treatment doesn't work. In the past I've tried being up front about my issues before meeting someone off here. In every case the person who was very interested before I told them suddenly takes off.

I've tried not telling people and meeting up with them. Even in cases where we did hit it off, had a great first date and I thought things might progress I never hear from them again.

It seems that no matter what I do I can't make a connection that lasts beyond a date or two. You think nice guys finish last, try being a nice guy with bad teeth.

Would any of you date someone that was getting treatment but had horrible teeth? Even if you knew that it would take years to fix it?

P.S.

I do work in sales and even if I say do myself I'm very good at my work. In spite of not looking good while doing it.

Regarding braces on someone "older"....sure, why not?? And, they are not just metal any more! LOL They now actually come in "invisible" and more....

Unfortunately, teeth are just part of a first impression with someone. I know some people personally, who have major teeth issues, and I just cannot get past them, no matter how well I get to know them, or how hard I try. I see them going out and spending money on having drinks and fun and other non-neccessities, and lose all respect for them not doing SOMETHING about their teeth. YES....even dentures....but DO take care of those!! Like braces, there are Dentures that you cannot even tell are such...but YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF THEM!
