| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 6:43:29 PM | | I wouldn't be afraid at all. I can do all those things, and there is no reason for my (insert relationship word here) not to do them, too. In fact, I think if I were married to someone who lacked those skills, I would either teach him or get him to take a class. I would like control of the kitchen most of the time, though. Cooking is too much fun to hand it over to anyone for more than half the time. | |

As for shopping OP, if you do the grocery shopping, I will change the oil in both our cars. I hate shopping too OMG I LOVE grocery shopping and setting the menu for the week ahead according to the "specials".
Would love a man to carry the shopping inside though...*sigh*...
...maybe even *reaches for the stars here*...pack it away too.

| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 6:54:22 PM | Maybe its because women are afraid of a man who's so independent that he doesn't need to rely on them for anything. Just my guess.
I had often thought the same thing. However, us guys know that is not true. We still need a woman for a wife, mother, kids. We also want a lifetime companion.
Heck I would be happy with a 50/50 relationship. You cook some of the time and I cook some of the time. Share household chores. There are going to be things you are better at and things I am better at. Things that are mine and things that are yours. I'll take care of the cars and the yard, if you take care of whatever you are good at. Is that so hard?

| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 7:10:55 PM | Oh gee....(yes, I said "gee") I'm not afraid of guys who can do this in the least, s'don't go around telling me that I am! Ok? Good? Now, you said you can"iron", I love this, cause I hate it.
Now, what I would be afraid of is..........a guy who loves to decorate, uh huh, that would me my fear, 'cause thems my stompin' grounds and I don't share well in that department and it's a little.......uh, Christopher Lowellish

I LOVE grocery shopping too. It relaxes me. Odd, I know.
I don't mind buying the food and cooking it, but if he would bring the groceries inside and put them away, that'd be great!
As for the rest of that stuff, why would I be scared of a man who can do that? It's like asking if i'm scared of a person who can get dressed in the mornings, and tie their shoes. These are things that single people need to learn to do, to survive, sometimes.
|
| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 7:20:19 PM | | I wouldn't be afraid of it. In fact, I'd embrace it. I pretty much stink at cooking, baking and sewing, so finding a guy who liked doing those things would be a bonus if we got along otherwise. | |
|
| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 7:30:36 PM | Can we get an explanation as to why you think women are affraid of your domestic skills. I don't think there could be anything further from the truth. Maybe that is just my circle of friends though. | |
|
| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 7:32:10 PM | hm...no need to iron, just hang immediately after it's finished in the dryer, I don't dress fancy enough to worry about ironing. I have a couple shirts that are purposefully wrinkly, or at least give the illusion.
Cooking...I can make it by, but nothing extravagent.
Baking...if I have a recipe and the right ingredients I could do fairly well.
Sewing...could...but I don't think it'd be pretty.
Cleaning...I can do it, only because I have to, or enjoy helping out.
All in all...Kyn will you marry me??

Can we get an explanation as to why you think women are affraid of your domestic skills. I don't think there could be anything further from the truth. Maybe that is just my circle of friends though. Well it might not just be those direct things I mentioned. I like cloths and shoes. I don't necessarily like shopping, however, I do like new cloths and that takes shopping. I like to look put together when I go out. Classy and professional. I can be metro at times and dirty overhauling an engine. I guess you get the best of both worlds with me. Throw two cats into the mix and maybe you will get the whole picture. I have a heart and didn't want them to be put to sleep. Guess I'm just not your typical meathead of a guy that drinks beer and watches football with a beer belly.
|
| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 7:50:10 PM | Then I guess I would have to ask, is the metro-you outweighing the guy-you? Or at least balancing it fairly equally? Nothing wrong with that either way, but some women just aren't interested in metro guys (I know I've never been) so, that would make it a case of "to each their own" and at least these ladies let you know upfront about it.
Or, it might be the comments you make assuming that a "typical meathead of a guy drinks beer and watches football with a beer belly" that are doing you in with certain ladies, if you convey that same attitude to them. That comes off as condescending, especially if the lady doesn't find it more impressive that you can sew instead.

gee you are something special--women are afraid of you and men are all beer drinking football watching beer bellied losers...nice one OP....SO ARE THEY RIGHT?? IS IT LONELY AT THE TOP??
Well a very very high percentage of the women who answered this thread said 'they not only don't have a problem with it but they'd love it.....
So you know what that means OP...
YOUR THOUGHTS ARE WAY OFF.

| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 7:58:09 PM | | "I can be metro at times" yes.. The key is at times. Not all the time. I love sports and I play sports. Just not a football and not a beer fan. You are correct. Everyone likes what they like. If girls are pre programmed to like a guy cliché such as watching football on Monday nights and drinking beer then more power to them. If that makes a guy a "man" in their minds.. Then that is sad. I just don't fit that mold nor do I really care to. I'm me and well you take me the way I am. Yes, that means no changing. | |
|
| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 7:59:26 PM | | I wouldn't say women are afraid of any man with talents, like cooking, sewing, baking, etc...They just aren't attracted to it exclusively, like most guys that bake, sew, cook expect them to be. | |

| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 8:05:55 PM | | I'm kind of curious what your experience has been with these girls that gives you the impression they're afraid of you. Gotta be something else. I don't think most women would be afraid of a guy who not only cooks, cleans and does things around the house, but a man who is willing to still do it? Op, you would be a keeper in my book! | |

Pre-programmed?? I think you watched The Stepford Wives too many times....seriously, it's ok...it was JUST a movie.
If that makes a guy a "man" in their minds.. Then that is sad. I just don't fit that mold nor do I really care to. I'm me and well you take me the way I am. Yes, that means no changing.
You shouldn't feel sadness over what someone else prefers--it is a waste of your energy only since they are happy-----YOU should try accepting people for who they are instead of just demanding that you be respected for who you are...
can we all join in and sing...

Exactly....
It is the attitude. | |

| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 8:11:40 PM | | Just responded to a similar thread. My answer to this question is women are not afraid of a man that can cook, bake, sew, clean and perform any other domestic duties. Girls, one the other hand, may be too insecure for such accomplished men. A woman who is secure in her in her own right, will have no problem being with a man who can also be a 'Domestic God', as well as a machanic and handyman (not to mention an animal in the boudoir). | |

Very well put. Makes more sense than "affraid"

I'm looking for such a guy A guy who does his 50 percent around the home while I do the other 50.
Now that is what I call a partnership. That is a good start to a healthy relationship.

| Why are girls afraid of a guy that can.....? Posted: 5/26/2008 8:42:10 PM | Cooking, cleaning and sewing definitely would not scare me one bit. Btw, can you mend my pants, cook me a sheppard's pie and clean the stove top for me? | |
