when you've lost a lot of weight...

There is NO WAY in hell that Marilyn Monroe would be a size 6 in todays fashions!!!

have you seen her?? She was big boned, broad shouldered and VERY LOVELY!!! and she weighed 160 to 175 pounds!!!! That, my dear ones, is NOT a size 6 in ANY standards! I am a size anywhere from 2 to 6 , all depending on the MAKE, BRAND, STORE, etc....believe me, it really does matter ! A size 2 at LaBeaufs and Tara's Desire will be a size 6 at Macys or Dillard's or Kohl's.

Marilyn Monroe was about the same size as that newest American Idol , Jordan Sparks, and i think they are both just the right size and adorable! cheers!

http://www.snopes.com/movies/actors/mmdress.asp Here is the most accurate article. There are several articles saying Marilyn wore a size 16 to 18 dress , which would be a size 12 to 14 in todays shrinking standards, 16 by British standards, and that she was the same size as RoseAnne Barr and Rosie O'Donnell.

I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!

thank you all for the positive responses...very much appreciated! while i am healthier, i do tend to chow down on a big mac or something once a month or so (usually around the same time each month!...damn feminine cycles!...LOL)

and thank you sooo much WannaCStars for clearing up the marilyn monroe issue...i knew there was no way she could have been a size 6 by todays standards of all things...she had hips, boobs, buns and thighs dammit! my bff isn't a size 6 and she's nowhere near as curvy as the lovely miss monroe was!

i've actually hit a dating dilemma that coincides with the loss of attraction towards larger men. the in shape men don't want me because i'm not quite 'flawless' in my physique...that or their too damn c@cky! and the 'average' or 'few extra pounds' gentlemen seem to think i'm "out of their league" (2 guys have actually said that to me...i'm dead serious!) and i hit the point a looooong time ago that i don't want to deal with someone who has that kind of low self esteem. i can't seem to find a happy medium anywhere *sigh*. and so i've decided to take a break from dating, again, and stick around for the forums since they're always interesting and entertaining!

It's not necessarily a matter of these guys having low self esteem. You know how you were treated by the fit, in shape men - turned away because you weren't perfect? Well, very often fit, in shape women do the same thing to the average man. The average guy doesn't expect a very attractive woman to give him the time of day, regardless of his self esteem, just because of what he's experienced in the past.

grr...why do people keep referring to sizes from the 50's and 60's as vintage sizes and say today 's sizes are twice what they were back then...a 30" waist is still a 30" waist....i can find old sewing dress patterns from back then labeled a size 10, i'm a size 10 in today's standard and it will still fit me today when made according to the sewing directions...the only things that have changed in that regard are the bust sizes...over the years women have developed(aided) into larger bust sizes..

larger busts sizes in terms of sizing for tops is a non issue since most tops are made so loosely anyway

people need to get over this notion of vintage sizes or that spandex in pants is so signifigant in the amount used that it accomidates 3-6 sizes outside the size the clothing item is made for...go try on some pants with the spandex and see how far off based you are if you think someone wearing a size 10 with spandex is so delusional...cause they arent. all it does is make clothing more pliable and crease less in different areas of the body, such as hips when you raise your leg to take a hill or climb stairs..

oh i can definitely understand where they are coming from indehills, but happiness comes from within and it is low self esteem...i've been there. if they aren't happy with themselves, they won't have successful relationships...with me or anyone. no one should feel that a person is "out of their league" because eventually it will just set off a chain of events that will reflect the self conciousness and ultimately lead to them, if not both, parties being unhappy. i don't want a man to continue a relationship with me simply because he thinks "she's so out of my league, i'm lucky to have her and won't find anyone else better." while the sentiment behind that is flattering, i wouldn't want someone to be unhappy because they felt they were settling or something. i'm not someone's emotional safety net in regards to making them feel great about themselves...they need to do that for themselves and be able to look at ANY woman and not think she's out of their league. i've seen some unattractive men with great looking women (and vice versa) and it's their confidence and self respect that draws a them in.

I think our tastes change as our lives change. Losing weight was a life change for you. When I lived in Europe, I fancied American men in a big way. Then when I lived in America, I really liked Australian men. Now I'm really into British guys. I used to like shorter blonds when I was young and now I like tall guys with dark hair.
