Funny, life of leisure, I'm trying to figure out why you feel the need to not only judge the OP's response but the sender's intent?
What would Life be if everyone could assess a person without over-analying what they say in a question or response? If they actually got to know someone before they thought to criticize them for something they may not have intended at all?...

Oh...that would be a pipe-dream, wouldn't it?...

He was just showing how young and dumb he was! I guess these kids don't stop to think we all were 20 once and he's gonna be where we are if he lives long enough! As long as I have the will to look, i'm never gonna be too old!

Hi there abby,
this kid forgets that time marches on for everyone and he will reach his 40's too.
As I always say, I'm not young enough to know everything ..rofl.
He is just releasing a little extra spirt of testosterone, wonder what he will do when he goes bald, and can't get it up!!!
Delete and move on hun!

Yes, I realize he was a kid. He may thought his inquiry was just a genuine request for my reasons for being here. It was insulting to me at first, hind-sight, I would have replied "for the same reasons as you".

Yes this did happen to me...some girl in her 20 hit me up and said I was to old to be fishing....So I ask her if she had a mother...she said yes....I ask her if her mother was single...she said yes...so I ask her to hook her mother up with me for a date...she did...and when I met this 20 year old in person and told her that age was just a number and that one day she would be my age, I told her life did not stop until you die and there was nothing wrong with somebody fishing at my age or as that goes at any age....the young lady wanted to put sex with dating and I told her that was not what I was about...yes sex was important but making frineds and finding true love was a given...I don't know if I chaged the you ladys mind about dating at my age, but her mom and I are all good friends now. So hang in there and don't let stuff like that bring you down, always look forward and remember as we get older we get smarter. So pass that on to some young person that ask you..If your to old to go fish, tell them your like fine wine, you only get better with age. I'm still fishing for that special woman..and I will find her....LOL

LOL...well, let's make sure y'all realize the two so-o-o do NOT go hand-in-hand.

Oh, and baldness is equated with too much dihydroxytestosterone, a derivative of testosterone.

Okay, I'm off to the shower to watch my follicles flow down the drain now...

He was probably trying to hook up with you.
Why else would he send you a message? Why would he care?
He didn't say you were too old. You said that.
He wanted to know what you were looking for.
You're good looking, He wanted to bang you.
That's how guys think.
The problem is that you're not thinking like a guy.

It's a complement.

Now that you know its a complement you can respond any way you want, or not at all.

well abby, not to defend rudeness cause there is no defense, but do you remember being yougn and knowing it all? thinking you have all the answers? and most of all having the whole "hope i die before i get old" mentality? it may have been a dumb innocent response of legitimatly not understanding singleness and the desire for companionship on the part of an insensitive yougn person. again i am not defending the response, just pointing out an alternative possibile answer for it.

Said the Tadpole to the Frog, lol some of the stuff these younger POF'ers can write just bust me up.Today is my 51st B-day and when the day comes I am not looking at women or thinking about women I will know I am dead.I have recieved a few comments from "younger" women that eluded to my being way too old for rollercoasters or riding a bike and so forth.I say lets go riding see who quits first lol. OLD is a state of mind in my opinion.

...chuckling over maeflowers 'guppy' line... made my day!

I'm currently involved with someone, but had to come back to the forums for the wisdom and humor of mostly the Over 45 POF'ers!

I had a 28 year old who would not give up:

He: what are you doing this evening?
Me: playing in the forums
He: do you date younger men?
Me: depends, how much younger?
He: my age?
Me: I have a son older than you.
He: you have to give me a chance.
Me: no I don't. I have shoes older than you.................
no response............................

Oh, I'm learning alot of things on POF... Younger guys break easier..Hmmmmm...Why do they think they can handle a older woman, then when we do become interested they run like Hel*.. Which is fine and good... but, don't tease a fish with just a nibble when you actually ask for a whole mouth full...... Even the lamest excuse is an excuse.... I had a man just recently. tell me... (and he was just 6 years younger than me) after numerous come ons and invitations... that he wasn't into Phat women..... I'm like "Okay" so has it took 2 weeks and numerous phone calls and texts ... (and seeing my photos on POF) to just realize I didn't lie when I said " a few extra pounds."... So it was nice , to say "Thank you." and flip my phone shut on the punk....! So the age thing is a pretty .. flip the coin issue for me

Hi abby156
Don't let an immature person put you at a loss. The fact that he was in his 20's says it all. Life is a learning curve and he has a long way to go to reach understanding of why older people would be on this site.
I lived away for many years and never thought about my age until I arrived back home eight years ago at the age of 42. I found it a big culture shock. I personally find that the attitude to social life in Ireland is very ageist, that is why I use this site because at least you can communicate with older people here. There are not many places where I live that the social scene incorporates all ages. I don't go to clubs because I would feel uncomfortable among all the young clubbers. When I lived in London this would not even be a consideration because there are all ages and types out clubbing. For some reason I feel here that you are not allowed to be out when you reach a certain age which of course is ridiculous. There is a big gap in the market here to create clubs which are accessible to all ages.
I have been contacted by 20 something year old's too, my contacts wanted to communicate with older women, something I am not into, so just remember that it takes all sorts, and do not be put off by a young immature man who has a lot to learn about life. When we get to the age of 45+ we still have the right to have as good a time as anyone else, don't concern yourself with someone who queries this. Life is too short for silly attitudes at our age. You did right to block him.
Good luck

I will be 45 in one month. I haven't gotten any emails like that on here, but on yahoo "ask", I asked "where do singles in their 40's go out to have fun around here?" and I got a rude remark from someone young, about old folk's homes or something. I just laughed. I haven't thrown in the towel just yet!!!

Most often I get a sexual proposition from a young guy. Not my thing - though other women I know are just fine with it.

When we were in our teens and twenties, we thought we discovered sex.
What could our parents know? They were oh so old.

Maybe that's where the 25 yo was coming from?
Maybe he jsut doesn't get it that sex is ageless.
Hell, I'm a 55 yo woman and I can tell you that sex is much better now than it was back then.

Suffice it to say that a LOT of the "kids" in the 20-30's range simply do not have any tact or manners! A better question would be WHY was HE "fishing" on a dating site? The world caters to the younger people so why couldn't he find a date in his circle of friends?? Maybe because he is a jerk?? My belief is that we ALL deserve love & companionship....at ANY age. The fact that we're looking online these days is GREAT for us! Our grandparents didn't have this technology available to them, otherwise....who knows? "Mail order brides" have been around for centuries. The internet is a lot more convenient! Don't let his comments get to ya, honey! He doesn't deserve your time.
