Posted: 5/28/2008 5:35:20 PM | No woman on here will admit to being impressed by nice things, but a lot are and I'm not saying that makes them gold diggers i'm just saying its something subconscious for some women and not so subconscious for others hahaha. I got a lot of female friends and when they talk about guys.....if the guy is driving something nice or has a nice job they always mention it.
But yeah you or any other woman on here wont admit that, thats just the way it is. Anyways that issue is beyond the scope of this thread. | |

A guy can emasculate another guy in front of his girl just by pulling up next to them in a nice car.
Or... the guy THINKS that he's emasculating me, but my kind of girl suggests that it's compensation.
IMHO, any man that allows himself to feel emasculated by a car has bigger issues than his auto purchasing power to worry about. When I see a car like that, I think of the high payments and insurance premiums on top of the gas to feed that beast. Yep, I'm cheap, but my vehicles are paid for.
In this enlightened age, SOME women, like SOME men, feel a need for speed in a hot ride. Shirley 'Cha-Cha' Muldowney and Danica Patrick are ground-breakers, but surely not alone. That's hot.

Don't worry. There are guys who realize this as they get older. We fight the feeling.
Stopping the ping from even happening however, is about as likely as not flinching at sudden gunfire.

Posted: 5/28/2008 6:24:47 PM | My thing isn't cars but motorcycles. I don't buy it as a status though. I ride in full gear and don't talk to much of anyone when I'm out on the bike. I prefer long distance trips on the bike where I'm completely alone.
The fact is that I like riding and I'm not willing to ride behind someone else when I don't have to. It's just not the same. Being a passenger puts one in the position of being dependent on the driver. When I'm on my bike, I'm in control of my destiny for good or ill.
I suspect for some women that really do like exotic cars that the feeling is the same. It's their car, and no one else's.
One should not be a passenger to their own life. | |

Practical????????? Sorry OP, but my 2000 Plymouth Neon is practical, not a Range Rover or Bently.
And I wouldn't want a newer car if I could afford a souped up car....I want a 65 Mustang (one of the few gems Ford actually made), or a 66 Nova SS.
Why? Because I love cars. And I can actually work on the older ones, they aren't full of computer chips. I can change the plugs and distributor, or change the oil without 9 million new fangled tools, and a manual.
But also because I would just be more of a sexy beast in a hot car.
*sigh* I have 3 kids, so I guess that will have to wait until they are grown. | |

It's true female behaviour has different priorities.
The DNA mostly likely to create the next generation in natural selection is of the most fertile female and the most dominant male.
Women today still have that hard-wired behavioural trait of advertising fertility, just as men have the hard-wired trait of advertising stature.
Watch a man poke fun at women for painting their face to appear more fertile, and see the women's instinctive reaction.
There are men who feel good in advertising their stature, because there are women still attracted by it. Just as there are women who feel good in wearing makeup because there are still men attracted by it.
If a woman was asking on the guy forum why men are starting to wear makeup, and there actually was a practical reason for it, we'd have virtually the same inability to understand each other's perspectives. We're just hard-wired differently and we'll never understand each other until we learn why that is. | |

one of my friends totaled her suv last year. after getting stuck in a pt loser rental and angry with car dealers trying to stereotype her into thrifty toyota boxes on wheels, she listened to the kid in her and went for a bright red convertible...

Posted: 5/29/2008 2:53:23 AM | for the same reason women like high end designer, jewelry and perfumes - it is a form of art, it is sensual, the more exotic the better. ideally, i would want a custom car, nothing mainstream would be exotic enough.
a woman's sense of pleasure is very complex. men are more basic, more raw, women need multi-leveled stimulation. that's why we want to care about the guy we are having sex w also - the more complex the experience, the more satisfying.
same goes for cars. if i could, i'd jump into a custom maseratti tomorrow, aghhh, so decadent, so beautiful...

it's not about status, not for me at least, it's about the satisfaction that comes w the best quality of anything. u just know u got a good thing, and will be good 30 years from now also, the new vogues turn into classics, it never loses value. and that friggin rocks! it's like having a diet that REQUIERS that u eat chocolate pudding w whipped cream every day. i call that a deal made in heaven

no point in holding back and being a mad mom in a minivan if we don't have to. Hell my first car was a 3000GT. it was amazing! i looved it!!!! and i looked hot in it! was it safe? NOOO was the back seat only for insurance purposes... yessss!! but i don't have kids...i don't need something that would drive around more than me and the guy i'm dating. or whoever!
plus you may be thinkin wrong as to us not wanting them for the same reasons.

I just realized lately how good it feels, how much freedom I feel driving my car (not a high end, but a GT nonetheless) because it was off the road for a while..I don't really care what others think..I just feel good when I get in it and drive.
