I miss the city a lot of the times, but some times I don't, and I love living in the 'sticks', lol. However, I'd like to live in the city again and be able to come 'home' anytime I want, like I used to. I guess I'm just a city type of gal who likes to escape once in awhile.

I like living in the city, but some days I long for a small town somewhere with low crime, clean air, neighbors who wave and cops who don't look pissed off all the time.

But I also have to say I find the mindset of many of the people I meet in small towns to be very closed minded to things outside of their norm and I find that very sad. With my current job I travel quite a bit through rural TN and in some places it is almost like going back in time.

I've never lived in the city, the small town I've lived in the past few years is the biggest town I've ever lived and I think the pop. is 440. I'll agree with the closemindedness and going back in time comment though. The majority of even the people my age don't own computers. I deleted my myspace, what's the point! lol. As far as more activities and people to talk to, not true at all, I know the majority of the town since I've been in the area most of my life. I stop to chat with at least a couple people just going to get some gas. And trust me, we find plenty to do, it's just different type of stuff is all.

Country for sure! Why? the peace, quiet, scenery, wildlife, PRIVACY, you can turn your stereo loud when in the mood, and you can have all the animals you like. What I hate most about the city is that there are people everywhere ... you can't even go into your backyard without seeing someone or being seen ... ewww. Acreages just out of the city are, I guess, the next best thing to country...

I like having space and less noise and cars around, so I like the country and is where I live. But, I lived most of my life in Los Angeles, so I really love driving down the 101 freeway fast at night in the summer. There is just a special energy and a smell in the air that you cannot get over. The country has nothing on that feeling. Sometimes the country is too yin for me. I need that energy rush the city gives.

I'm not happy with either. I want both.

My dream is to have a nice cabin in the North GA mountains ~ such beautiful country, surrounded by big, old oaks, pines, maples, etc where the you can hear the soothing wind blowing through the trees. And there are no street lights to drown out the stars. And where you can hear birds chirping and animals moving around fresh in the mornings.

On the other hand, after too much solitude, I get restless. And so, a condo in the heart of the city would be great. I like the stimulation and the sounds of the city and the sophistication of the city. I love especially people-watching.

What I don't want, but to each his own and it's certainly fine, but to live in the suburbs. No privacy and I feel everything in too uniform and thus, boring. But that's not something awful. Just not my cup of tea, if I had my druthers.

I grew up in a small town, but always yearned for the country. Once I moved to the country, I was happy. Lived on 100 acres in the middle of nowhere. No visible neighbors. Had 15 horses and a bunch of dogs. On a very busy day we'd see half a dozen cars go by the house, and 2 cars in a row was a traffic jam. Give me the country any time!

My ideal location would be a cabin in the mountains overlooking a huge meadow. Stream running nearby. Sitting on the porch in the sun at dawn watching the horses graze. Just me, my dogs, my horses, and a good library. If I find a good man to share that with me, that would be great.

I would say I prefer living in the country. It's beautiful and brings me to as close to nature as I can get. I really don't mind if there are more inconveniences when living in the country for I love having a challenging but simple lifestyle when I'm at home. But I love working and visiting the city as well. The city is an open door to learn and to encounter different people and places. And much history lies in the city. And partying too. Ya can't bar hop much in the country lol! I appreciate the cities for if there weren't any, there would be no country. I do get aggravated with some city people that want to live in the country, but, want all of the luxuries of the city around them. The forests and farmlands are wiped out and placed with shopping centers, offices, gas stations, and houses(town houses? could never figure that one out if one wanted to live in the country and have some space)etc. That would make no more country. Just a few trees here and there. Why not stay in the city where one needs that kind of life style?

In between, that is the suburbs. Must be because I grew up on Long Island, NY and like that kind of living. The city is too congested and too expensive. The country is too sparse, the suburbs are just right for me. Of course where I am now, Columbus, GA isn't a big city.

Give me the country. Please!!

Lots of land around me, keeping neighbors at arm's length. Quiet. Solitude when wanted (most of the time!). Within reasonable driving distance to whatever I want to get to!

Let's go!!

Absolutely, positively without a doubt I prefer the country. As Eddie Albert so eloquently stated, "Green Acres is the place to be...farm living is the life for me"

City...
Getting tired of living so far away from the things I enjoy. Everything is right there for the taking in the city. Plenty going on all around you. Sure, I enjoy the outdoors, but it comes at an equally heavy price.

Small town life for me. We have a couple of pretty good mom n pop restaraunts here, a couple fast food places (and a Timmys), some good places to shop, a beautiful park with a boardwalk right in downtown along the river, neighbors are friendly but not in an annoying way, and crime is virtually non-existent. The nearest mall is only 2 communities over (about a 30 min drive), and access to the freeway (I-94) about 20 mins.

I've mostly lived in the country, except for about 2 years in a city because of a job. I was glad to get back to the country when the job ended. I had one long term city-bred girlfriend who said she wanted to live in the country, and it took her about 3 months to discover she hated country life. Oddly enough I've seen her on a couple dating sites saying she would like to live on a farm. The girlfriend I have now was also born and raised in the city, but she loves country living and has always said she'd never consider moving back to the city.
