| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/20/2008 9:19:12 AM | The date is off for 2012. Those who are Mayan even state its off they do not know the exact dates. When the spaniards came through, they killed the elders that could read the calendar and knew it's secrets. Those who write books on it are doing it from what they think or they spent a few days to a few weeks with the Mayan and now consider themselves 'experts'. Furthermore it doesn't mean things are going to 'poof' just means that is the end of the calendar as the mayan did it. | |

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/20/2008 9:37:39 AM | WOW, ENigma. I am just totally IMPRESSED Totally!!!. You pulled this 2012 right out of my brain. Yesterday we had a meeting at Thunder Ranch (Mary Thunder's home) on scheduling our fall Elder's Gathering. It will be the 3rd weekend in October. We are planning a fundraiser to help raise money to fly the elders in. The main theme of the gathering is to be the Prophecies of 2012 of the separate indigenous peoples. They are Wonderful gatherings. We usually have some N.A. Medicine Men and Women, Maori, Druids from England, an African Shaman, hopefully, Chief Leonard Crowdog, and some others. Hopefully, we will have 20 or so elders to speak. And the people come to hera them speak. Their wisdom is profound. I was watching Grandma Sara a couple of years ago, and you could see many faces shift over her face, as she was listening. It was incredible. I am just so amazed that you asked this question! LOL! The meeting was from 1:00 till about 7:00, followed by a traditional Sweat. I had written Platojag last night when I got home and told him all about it. Was hoping to perhaps get some copies of the tapes that will be made of the speakers for a few people. I will see what I can do. Tregana, certainly not contradicting what you said. No one is sure of the dates. But, it is amazing how many different indigenous cultures have their prophecies about this time period.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/20/2008 10:45:55 AM | WOW! I guess I have missed a LOT! Not wanting to respond to him, or anything, but I have just come back here & caught up since posting my last one yesterday.. Missed all those activities from last night, so if anyone copied the page, I would love to read them, if you could message them to me, please? All we can do now, is say a prayer for him & wish him well.
Anastassia --> (You said) "I realize that for some of you I am most liketly a ding bat or just trying to get attention... I respect your opinion... I just "sense" that some of you will perhaps with the saying cited above can at least realize that there is some "remote" possibility."
If that is the case (and it is DEFINITELY NOT!) ... than ALL of us need to build a big longhouse somewhere, and escape....ha! I have heard stories from others & experienced myself, many sightings of spirits.
I have to express my viewpoint about your discussions. I TRULY believe that all of us here have many gifts, that we are sharing as a means of expressing ourselves & our experiences, and as one of my old teachers would say: "This is good!" But..... (what a beautiful word...ha!) ....I want to ask you to re-read my story about my website getting hacked into & how there are MANY people reading this thread & not making themselves visible. They might even go as far as "posing" as a suitable mate in a message to you (without sharing that they read this thread) and try to get more personal information from you. One of my guides persuaded me to tell you this, and they are never wrong in their "suggestions". I don't want to make anyone paranoid, or worrying about this, but I feel there is a need to make you all AWARE & cautious about who you deal with on the internet, okay? I ( and a few others here) have basically put ourselves right "out there" and anyone who is "out to get the shaman" will most likely put me at the top of their list. And I think it is a shame, that "fear breeds contempt". In so many parts of history, when the majority of the public don't understand something, they form their own conclusions and... "go grab a gun for protection", thinking that, "whatever is different, is dangerous". So sad. Even poor Fools Crow, had his home & belongings corrupted, near the end of his days here. I am not supporting or condemning the Church, but when we look at how Jesus was treated, it is yet another example of "mob madness". Enough about my warning. Surround yourselves with white light & you will be fine!
enigma252 and a few others have commented on hospitals & spirits. If you die before you are ready to die, if you die in an accident or murder, or if you die from your own suicide..., there is often major confusion, on the other side. I don't use the term "haunted", because I don't believe that spirits should be referred to with that term. The above mentioned scenarios I have just talked about, often cause that person/spirit to have NO IDEA that he/she is not among the living. It is like they can see everything they saw when in human form, and truly believe that they are still here (but, like anasthasia described) they aren't able to make physical contact. Just think, of what that would be like?! Wouldn't it almost make you "mad" (not angry... you know what I mean). Well, that's what happens. They are completely confused & sometimes very paaranoid about it all. The BEST thing you can do for them, is to tell them this story & immediately tell them to "GO TO THE LIGHT". Nine times out of ten, they will leave shortly after you saying this.
Now..., 2012. I had an Earth Changes section (Climate shift... to the masses) on my old website, in 2005. On there, I posted a list of what I "see" as future events , and had a map of the Future North America posted (and WHO puts themselves out there?!! HA!) I do not "see" this as the end of the world, as some others forecast. ( I am a "seer" too, by the way....now "N" is really fuming...ha!) I DO see a MAJOR change in the structure of the continents, a lot of crisis, a lot of death....and a lot of chaos about all of this. IT IS NOT THE END, THOUGH! Just as the civilization before the last ice age (and the civilization of "Atlantis"...for those who believe in this) there will always be some survivors. (I"m thinking...all of us will be part of them.. ) The future maps that I have drawn out are pretty severe in some areas though, and may not be for the light-hearted. There are other maps similar to my own by Gordon Michael Scallion; Louise Adele Toye (and as I said to whitefether in a message, I believe that Mary Summer Rain has one, too). The most important thing I want to stress, is that ALL of our maps are "changeable". By this, I mean... that if there is enough change in POSITIVE consciousness throughout the world, we can indeed, change the outcome. This is being done ALL THE TIME, DAILY by shamans & other spiritual people, to move storms, etc. (I think I may have said too much on a forum, but it is all being written in one of my books, and others already have some of the same information "out there" so....... so be it.)
One more thing, or I might have used a whole darn page here! I shared something about my own & other friends of mine concept about anyone who has Indigenous blood (at any level) and the combination of alcohol, that I am also being prompted to share with all of you, because... I think it has a very important role in your happiness & health. Here it is:
Many generations ago (not going back to Egyptian times.... that was different again) women were not "social drinkers" (the majority..., not the working girls & barmaids). So..., they never had the same tolerance to alcohol, as men did. To this day (on average) if you take a 100 pound woman & a 100 pound man, give them both the same quantity of alcohol.... you will find that nine times out of ten, the woman is more affected by it, than the man is. (More years of conditioning & building up a tolerance for it.)
Now..., apply this theory to North-American Indigenous People. There was NO alcohol here, until the white man came. Yes.., there was "tiswit" ( a very mild version that was used primarily for medicinal purposes & spiritual rituals) and a few other milder creations but, there was no rye, vodka, gin, whiskey, etc... These were brought over by Europeans & others who came to North America.
Now... with hundreds of years of consuming alcohol before Indigenous people, the ratio of effect on them is (our own feelings) about SEVEN TIMES that of white people. Add to this..., that as well as bringing small pox, measles & many other diseases over here, they also brought many types of alcohol that were made of plants NOT INDIGENOUS to North America. Here's where our theory really kicks in!
We believe..., that not only do Indigenous people have a lower "tolerance" to alcohol, but that there is also a "food allergy" element; that Indigenous people are also having an allergic reaction (physically AND mentally) to this substance.
Therfore, if you have Indigenous blood in you, you could also be slowly poisoning yourself, by consuming alcoholic beverages! One of the main reasons why I do not drink anymore, even though, I rarely ever did. Sure... I used to enjoy a good dry, expensive French Bordeaux at times, ...and I often had ONE shot of cognac AFTER I was finished singing for the night, but I was never a beer drinker (also: beer & milk are bad for singers). I haven't drank a drop of ANY alcohol, since 2000. ...And feel MUCH better & clearer minded, for doing so. Just something I thought I would share with you.
Hope you all have a BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

Either it's a very busy day for everyone, a very slow day on here, or I really said something that bothered everyone from writing more? Hope it was one of the 1st two!! Have a good night everyone.... Still would like to hear what I missed last night form someone, so message me if you can share...thanks!

Au contraire mon ami, look at the amount of people reading this thread...
In the mood for some native humour... Comic relief of sorts...
Here goes!!!
Indian Chief, "Two Eagles," was asked by a white government official, "You have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done."
The Chief nodded in agreement.
The official continued, "Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?"
The Chief stared at the government official for over a minute and then calmly replied. "When white man find land, Indians running it. No taxes, No debt, Plenty buffalo, Plenty beaver, Clean Water; Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; All night having sex."
Then the chief leaned back and smiled. "Only white man dumb enough to think he can improve system like that.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/20/2008 7:03:14 PM | Sherry, tape the meeting of the elders and take it to a recording studio and have it transferred to a DVD or a CD. They will clean up any sound problems. Then sell it. The money could support your groups and you all will be doing the world a big big favor. Film it and post it on YouTube, too.
Around 1984 a NA spirit named Broken Arrow came through my body twice and knocked me into a trance. He stated that if mankind did not change their ways a comet would come and cause the poles to shift. That, we would have a 5 days time period of darkness where the planet will not be rotating. Also, 6 months of a huge ash cloud in the sky. I was told not to live within 40 miles of the coast line anywhere because of title waves. Well, the date that was given for this event was 1994--so here we are. Don't know what to think about that one except he was REALLY UPSET AND MAD! I'm just reporting this . . . . .

And, Tregana - do you have suggestions for protection in the moment if we suddenly realize we are in the presence of one or more who's energy is not 'healthy'....spiritually healthy I mean? Yes, I know - I am not Tregana - but I felt I would address the question, as I see so many suffer from being drained energetically at times when you are surrounded by "unhealthy" energy. I often do a quick visualization where I imagine myself surrounded by a mesh cage - it is almost like those computer image people, and moves with me - and it is programmed to only let positive through to me. The negative gets run to ground. After any experience in a negative, I do a visualization of standing in the rain..... and the rain just washes all the negative energy off of me and into the ground.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/20/2008 7:35:04 PM | Hospitals, malls, large crowds things I avoid and here I find I am not the odd man out. Thanks kids.
I tried to send this earlier this evening but POF was over loaded or my PC was. Its funny in a way because of the post E put up> OK try #3 to post this.
OK I relayed the cloud color story to you and I just remembered another one as I was reading pages 7 & 8.
Quite some time back when I was into Tarot cards (OH I was good) and I was at a party across the street. Every thing was going really well good friends just having a marvelous time. I had done a couple of readings and was about to do another when I felt a cold chill like something had past through me and I just got this unbearable urge to leave. After a few minutes of trying to fight it I left. I made apologies and walked home. Once I was out side everything was fine just a strange feeling and I didn’t think any thing else till the next day when I found out the old lady upstairs died shortly after I left.
I get an uneasy feeling when I try to explain what happened to myself because like I said I don’t believe and therefore maybe I envy those of you who do.
The dirt I walk on, the air I breath, the water that falls from the sky onto my face (its raining right now) those are the things I believe in. They are all connected everything is connected living and not living, that is my belief.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/20/2008 9:20:21 PM | ya know honestly I haven't put a shield up in about 20 years. If someone is being a energy vamp I simply move away from them and send them on their merry way. If they are projecting. you have the choice of drawing it to you or not. It's theirs. I usually let them keep it. The only thing I am consistent about is grounding, and being centered.
Everyone is at a different place in their paths. Personally I don't consider anyone healthy or not spiritually. They are where they are. They have chosen to be where they are. When they decide where they are isn't working for them, they'll make another choice. And stay there til they choose to change again, or stay where they are cause it works for them. Its the same with life in general. We all make choices. There are no right or wrong choices, there are just choices. If we make one and it works and we are happy with it, stay with it, if not then make another choice.

Mystral, so nice to see you here! I was wondering if you would....
I've often wondered about being aware of others' feelings. So much sadness. And I've come to the conclusion that I allow it. But your description that your protection moves with you is the closest I can come up with to my own understanding. It is just there. I no longer even think about it, but trust. I'm not sure if it's been a process or just an understanding that I am responsible for my own personal power, but probably a combination of the two. Whatever, I do know that my definition of "evil" has changed dramatically over the years, and I do not fear. "Evil" has power only to those who allow it.

Hasn't been twenty years for me, probably closer to ten (what can I say, I'm a slow learner), but I'm with you on this one Tregana. I just understand that it is my choice to attract or repel or perceive that which comes my way and know that I am powerful enough (as is everyone) to accept or not accept. Simple as that.
Grounding however, is more important, to me. And cleansing with sweetgrass, wild sage and water. I've come to realise that my personal rituals are for me. They help me to understand that the energy I attract needs to be whisked away at intervals, and to start anew.
The dirt I walk on, the air I breath, the water that falls from the sky onto my face (its raining right now) those are the things I believe in. They are all connected everything is connected living and not living, that is my belief.
And this is absolutely good enough! In spades!

Pretty well where I'm at. Really well put, so thanks! It really is all about choice and the power we give to those choices. I have learned that in the end, we are the guardians of the power that the good Creator gave us. All is Connected.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 6:03:18 AM | Mystral, so nice to see you here! I was wondering if you would....

Thanks, Raven - I am in the process of moving, so not hanging out here so much.... but this thread has me hooked.
I find that while I do not have to actively think of my shield, or put one up, there are times when I have to "do maintenance" on it. For example - when my father passed away a few years ago, and I had to maintain long hours in the hospital - around my large family for such an extended period of time. They are strong Catholics, and do not understand my beliefs, nor do they wish to... so the extensive lack of sleep, the stress of the situation, and the prolonged period of "keeping my light under a bushel" wore me down - I had to maintain my shields.
I find that a combination of ocassional shield maintenance, awareness when someone is trying to tap into your energy, distancing myself from negative and draining people, and grounding extensively is what works best for me.... I don't find I do it consciously, but I am becoming more aware of what I do subconsciously.....and that awareness makes things even stronger.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 8:59:27 AM | Sage, sweet grass, smudging works very well for banishment.
Another easy one is to take a spiritual bath with 3 handfuls of salt that is blessed, a little spirit of campher and lemon juice. Burn a white candle in the bathroom and watch the black smoke rise up after around 15 minutes or so of dunking yourself in the water--totally.
I haven't had to do this for years but use to after working psychic fairs and picking up others energy pattersn.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 9:54:17 AM | Another good thing to do is to pull your own aura in very close to your body, so the other persons aura is not intruding on yours. You can practice doing this and become very good at creating your own eggshell.
Sherry | |
|
| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 10:32:05 AM | | I agree.... With ALL the informative discussion on cleansing the aura... Thanks to all of you, for sharing your knowledge. Smudging is probably one of my favourites, but each must find their own way... as we are all unique.... with our own path to follow. If I came across too strong to anyone, in any of my previous postings, I apologize. I am very passionate about what I believe in, but that doesn't mean that I expect everyone to take my words as their own. I am only sharing.... take what you will & disgard what you don't agree with. We all have our own minds here. Thank you, for allowing me to share some of my own thoughts with all of you. Everyone has a right to state their own opinion... We just need to do so, in a way that doesn't condemn others ...and if I have ever done that here, it was completely unintentional. I apologize. | |
|
| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 10:44:33 AM | Aw, now I feel as if I was a trifle too hasty Jag. Sorry, please accept my apologies. In our private correspondence, I gave my opinion that folks use alcohol/other stuff for their own reasons and that is their choice. I actually agree with you, in principle, that alcohol is probably not altogether beneficial, but what can I say? When the mood hits me, I like to indulge. That said, it has been awhile.....
But I don't think anyone took it as preaching, just good advice.
Cheers everyone, Raven

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 11:10:14 AM | MEEGWETCH, Raven! Apology accepted, but not necessary... You said nothing wrong, in my "opinion". :) You are just expressing your own, and that is what we are all here for, right? (that...and to absorb knowledge like a sponge.... like Whitefether said!)
By the way everyone..... If you don't already know, feel, or see this... Fools Crow is just LOVING this Forum, and has a big grin on his face...

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 3:31:38 PM | Sharing something that is found in one of my dearest bibles, "Earth Medicine, A Shamanic Way to Self Discovery"... it does not credit any other author for this, so perhaps Kenneth Meadows himself wrote it....and yet, deep within, my awareness says Spirit wrote it of course, coming through...what grateful channels and receivers we are.....
"The Spirit of the Redman"
I am not separate from My Creation Any more than your thoughts Are separate from you. I am not the Reality behind the world But the Reality that is in it. For I am in the world with you In all your life Wherever you are Wherever you go Wherever you look. You can see Me in the Moon And in the Stars That bring forth light Out of the darkness. You can feel Me in the breeze That kisses your cheek. You can hear Me in the flowing waters That refresh and renew. The tiny seed that grows to a mighty oak Contains My power And the bud that blossoms forth in flower Enfolds My fragrance.
I am with you now In the ever-changing Present That is true Eternity. Closer than the breath That brings your body life. Closer than the thought That springs within the mind. That ignorant men call finite. Closer than the beat That keeps your heart in tune. For I am to be found Nowhere But where you are. For I am the One that is All And can be seen in all. Anywhere. Everywhere. And I am the All that is One In everyone. So find Me now Touch Me now. Feel Me now. And love Me now. Wherever you are. Then you will Walk the Earth in Beauty.
|
| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 3:39:29 PM | Well..., I was trying to wait for some others to put forth some more posts, before writing more, but it looks pretty quiet here today, so I thought I would start another discussion: Earth Changes (which I believe is one main focus of the Elders meetings). I'm hoping that anastasia is right, and that we ARE having more eyes viewing these pages, because I think we all have some important contribution, for viable solutions.
There has been more & more news discussions about Global warming, but I really don't see a lot of action by the governments of the world. Only talking. Talking is good, but it will not solve the problems by itself. We need immediate & far reaching action, if we are to be of any help to Mother Earth, in this time of crisis. We are not only hurting her... We are "robbing" her....
Oil is not just a cause of pollution and economic problems right now, it is becoming a "missing ingredient", of mother Earth. Everything that is a part of Mother Earth is there for a purpose. If you take all the oil out of a car engine, what happens? The motor ceases, right? If you take all the lubrication out of the human body, what happens? The bones start to grind on one another, the skin begins to dry up & the body becomes very brittle, right? Well.... apply this same theory to Mother Earth. We have been drilling for oil in this world, for a very long time. How much of Mother Earth's lubrication have we "robbed"? I am not a scientist, but I do know about teutonic plates that the earth is built on. (please... anyone correct me if I'm wrong) But.., doesn't some of this oil we are taking lubricate some of the areas between these teutonic plates, allowing them to move back & forth easily? If so, isn't this "removal of lubrication" going to cause more friction between plates... then causing more earthquakes, as a result? The oil must have some main function, for Mother Earth herself?
Trees... I think almost everyone knows the fact that they absorb carbon dioxide, and emit oxygen into our atmosphere. If we are having more pollution problems, a lot more holes in the ozone layer & more problems with land fills getting over used, than why are we cutting down more trees? Especially when the internet has made the need for paper so much less? I think we would use even less paper (and have less paper waste) if there was a study done to see how many people ACTUALLY read and/or use any of the flyers and other junk mail that everyone gets in their mailboxes every day. Any comments about any of this?
I could go on & on & on about other ways we are "robbing" Mother Earth, but I will leave this to discuss, ... and will offer one other tidbit of information about why we could have had alternate fuel & free hydro, many, many years ago. Some will probably already know this fact.
Many years ago, an inventor by the name of Nikola Tesla had invented a device to harness the energy from lightning strikes, that could have been mass produced, so that people could capture energy & store it in batteries. "Some people" didn't like the idea, because they couldn't make money selling hydro, if people had their own sources. He also had invented a motor engine that was fueled with methane (made from various animal excrement), So...., not only would this be cheap, but we would be getting more (you know what) out of the world. Ha! (You can look him up on the internet and get a lot of other information about him, too.) My question is, why can't we use this technology today? Who, why & what is stopping this from evolving? Isn't it time we did all we can, to help Mother Earth? I appreciate all your viewpoints on everything I have said. (Yes, this will be controversial... I know)
(Beautiful post, weare1! ...and then I go and write a storm, while your writing calmness.... sorry!)
|
| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/21/2008 4:35:25 PM | Telsa. Got to wonder how many of his inventions were deep-sixed by the government and oil companies 100 years ago when Britan was carving up the middle east.
WeAre1, very beautiful poem. Thank you. It really sums it all up.
Back to 2012. There's a good thread on this site about it. "So what's the deal with 2012". There are a few very good posts in scientific terms about geological and astrophysical events that are probable. All very scary, really.
Tregana, thanks for your imput on the above-stated matter.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/22/2008 5:31:07 AM | It's funny how Spirit works....
I've been getting a lot of emails (from here) and phone calls (Pow Wow season is here) from my non Native friends about the appropriateness of participating on this thread and attendance at Pow Wows. I have always advised that their participation is most welcome and indeed, encouraged.
Last week, I took the time to stay with my teacher. ( She has the most powerful Indian guide that I have encountered.) Bottom line, I was told there are four rainbows that will keep me on my journey for the next little bit. As usual, these cryptic messages piss me off, but I have long since learned to pay attention. (I always just wish that Spirit would just say what they hafta say, but realise if they did, I would be lazy, I digress)
So in my usual spot in the lake, I found an opal-esque rainbow marble under my feet in the lake while just communing. Okie dokie.
Then, on this thread, numerous references to Fools Crow and some to Black Elk. So I'm looking through this stuff, and oh my, both men refer to a future "Rainbow Tribe".
The Rainbow Tribe
"These Two-Legged will be called the Rainbow Tribe, for they are the product of thousands of years of making among the five original races. These Children of the Earth have been called together to open their hearts and to move beyond the barriers of disconnection. The medicine they carry is the Whirling Rainbow of Peace, which will mark the union of the five races as one." Jamie Sams, Other Council Fires Were Here Before Ours
We have a great purpose for being here. The universe works in mysterious ways! Everyone is a special person that walks a lonely red road. But you are not alone on your journey. The knowledge of the connection to the Great Mystery, we are all connected, lies at the heart of saving the world as we know it. What spark of thought does it take to change the way we think and to make a difference? One person on this earth makes a difference. One person changing a thought, an idea. It has to start from somewhere. It started or rather rebirthed with Black Elk's message.
The Rainbow Tribe is the embodiment of this consciousness. Granted, there are many beliefs that parallel this way. But from the Native American perspective we are all Rainbow people, regardless of race, color or religion. "The rainbow symbolizes fresh spirit of life, and from the rainbow, little flames of knowledge fall. Where they land, flowers grow. Ed McGaa, Eagle Man
Also, while perusing through these sites, I noticed that repeated reference is made to rainbow doors.
I am Cree, Knisteneaux tribe from my maternal Grandmother's side. (lol, Mohawk ,from that reserve where the golf course took precedence, from my paternal Grandmother's side, but we don't talk about that
still, Montreal is my birthplace and I love it dearly)
Much of my learning is from my auntie, an herbal Medicine woman and a storyteller. Last night, I was going through my stuff, remembering her scolding me about the "right" way to handle my smudges, and then the old Cree flood story and resulting rainbow came "flooding" back. She also says that there will be a time when the people of this earth will be as rainbows.
OK, so that is three. And it occurred to me, the Gay symbol is a rainbow. Ed McGaa, in quote up above^^ references five original races, and for the life of me, if anyone knows who the fifth is, please tell me. I was taught that there are only four, the red, black, white and yellow. I may be stretching here, but could the fifth be those who Native people call Two Spirited?
I have been priviliged to travel this country extensively, and live among different tribes. Most have bemused acknowledgement of their gay members, but still, they are accepted full members. It was not always this way. Two Spirits were once greatly valued....
When I lived with the Inuit, who haven't really been so overwhelmed with western philosophies, especially in the High Arctic, their take was much more accepting and reverent. An Elder told me that these people were honoured as they had both male and female spirit and so, were doubly blessed. They were often the community Spiritual "minister" and healer.
In my life, nothing gets me more riled up than exclusion of certain people because of different aspects of their being. Especially dogma that promises hell and damnation. Personally, I am proud to follow the Red Path as it includes everyone. All Is Connected.
Which brings me to another path the has been brought up on this thread. Healing of the Mother.
For those who follow the Red Path, this aspect is inherently understood. I still maintain it starts from each individual's personal respect in the small everyday ways. Reuse (big fan of this, clothes, furniture, etc, if I can't use it, I take the time to find someone who needs it), recycle, pick up garbage when I see it, make conscious choices when purchasing new stuff, food, etc etc. In the larger aspect, I always thank the Mother and pray for Her and the folks on her.
Anyway, have a great day folks, Raven

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/22/2008 6:40:09 AM | Raveninns,
Last night, I had thoughts that were similar... Not in those words but soooo similar...
http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com
This video is a two hour movie... I urge people to go see it... It made me think and think I did... Here are some realizations that came to me last night before I went to sleep. Those realizations are along your train of thought.
Since I have no native knowledge apart from my great grandmother, I do not have the native way of expressing myself, but I hope the ideas can come across. (I have extensive knowledge in monetary matters and now I just understood why I needed to know that... Another issue... )
The whole monetary system (banking) is based and made up by a few powerful men who's only purpose to use the masses for power. The governments as we know are, in my opinion, puppets to make sure their plan is accomplished.
The church, (I am speaking of my own here, the catholic one), used the same method in order to "control" the masses and make sure that they would do what THEY wanted. Remember the cruisades and in my experience, French Canada anyway, during the Duplessie years... Controt, control, control...
Anything that did not fit were ex communicated... or in the business world, went bankrupt.
It is not new, governments and religions made deals to ensure their control.
One method was to completely disconnect the people from their "roots" sort of speak...
Now, think about it... If most of us are too busy paying for the mortgage and the cars and whaterver else you THINK you need... Working two jobs and horrible hours to keep up with your neighbours... Buying overpriced clothing because of a logo on it... etc, etc, etc....
Explain to me how you can have quiet times and let your soul "breathe"... The governments and religions want that situation because in my humble opinion it is SLAVERY desguised as FREEDOM...
Somehow, there are some of us who simply cannot fit in that mold for all kinds of reasons... Some of us have just decided it is just not a "healthy" way to live.
I believe there is an awakening of sorts and the year 2012 and on is in a way a landmark year? or a time frame where people will "walk away" from the mortgages and the financial system as we know it.
The gasoline crisis I believe is a "revelation" to me. Many inventors have invented ways to harvest the wind and the sun for energy. (Wind and sun are spiritual variables to me.)... Imagine harvesting what is "given" to us by our great spirit and the powerful people controlling the economy do not want to develop the products and do not want us to know... Why?... simply put they will no longer be able to control us. Wind and sun is "given" to us... Always has ...
How can any group control people on their spiritual path?... IMPOSSIBLE
We are being awakened and some of us will go through angry times when this is realized and I hope it will not cause any more destruction... They will need guidance from the rainbow people... There is an awakening happening...
Just a thought Raven... Could it not be possible that the 5th member of the rainbow tribe be what I have seen here identified ans the Great Spirit itself?... I am sure I am off... Just a suggestion...

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/22/2008 6:52:42 AM | I agree that we are harming the Earth, soiling out nest, generally destroying the home we are supposed to build for future generations, and Global Warming is very real and an strong indicator of the harm we are doing.
But the oil we extract is rather neutral until we do stuff with it. And it's there because of processes that occurred and not for some necessary function. The tectonic plates aren't lubricated by anything. When they slide (to use the word loosely) they do so on magma at temperatures so high oil would have long before vaporised. For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tectonic_plates
As for plants, they only absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen while photosynthesizing. When there's no (sun)light, they do the opposite -- absorb oxygen and give off carbon dioxide. The benefit of trees is that they trap the CO2 in their wood. As long as the wood remains wood, the CO2 remain trapped.

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/22/2008 7:32:11 AM | Wow - amazing posts. Raven- I can feel much coming through yours - don't want to write too much on that thought.... But random thoughts from both yours and Annastasia's and the others - "slavery disguised as freedom" - brilliant way to put it. I so agree. The four colours - red, black, yellow, white, natural comes to me the fifth could be green - Rastafarian colours too, with white added....just something resonates there as a possibility. When Enigma asked pages ago about numbers - the number 7 - to me the number 5 has always been especially magical and 9 - my spiritual path extends the 7 to 9...... 7 is halfway between 5 and 9.... Anyway, perhaps the fifth being the one that unifies the other four, as Anna suggested....or perhaps the fifth are the 'non-believers', for they too are meant to be and holding a torch of humanity too.....perhaps it is the doubter in us all.....or perhaps the tribes are 5 aspects of humanity - in general, and individually. Or, like a four sided pyramid - the fifth is the base - the part that is the foundation and connection from the lower planes to the higher.....as I said, random thoughts. Others that came through - Anna speaks of fire and wind as gifts that offer natural sources of energy for us - it comes to me all the elements are sources of energy - natural ones - quick examples but I'm sure there are many more - Wind (air)....wind turbines now coming back Sun (fire).....burning of fuel....now realizing this is becoming a potential hazard for us and one we must alter to not damage our environment any further.....imo it is such a powerful source of energy, that in our careless (and originally ignorant) use of it, we have endangered ourselves in terms of the sun and our layer of protection is breaking down in the earth's atmosphere and our own skin's protection also. Water - obvious use for energy, plus steam power once used incredibly successfully.... Earth (wood)...another obvious source of energy, but is being depleted at a grand scale quite dangerously, as we know- plus Earth could also be seen perhaps as P's speaking of methane use for energy... and in Traditional Chinese Medicine - there are 5 elements - they add Metal as the fifth - like iron and all the machinery we have created comes from metal - but also the tiniest specks within us that, if without those, we would not function .....electricity to me is metal energy...anyway, it is with metal mostly that we have built the apparatus used to contain and create power from these elements. Lastly, rainbows - when I lived in England for so many years, one very obvious part of nature I have not found anywhere else were the number of Rainbows! Everywhere, so often, seeing double and even triple rainbows would appear at several points in the day - if the day was typical changing of weather from rain, through clouds to sun through clouds to rain and back and forth with often some sleet or hale thrown in, quite often overlapping - hence the numerous rainbows. And, like when a hawk (or two or three or more) appear in the sky here, I always stop and feel the blessing and honor them - can't help it - am completely mesmerized every time - so it was in England and the rainbows there. I had one more thought upon hearing some might be reading this thread that are not on the site - are we safe here to express all this? I can only pray we are, though I am a little concerned too. It is just vulnerability coming through.

Edit to add quickly - regarding the post above - I had no idea trees were so incredibly 'gifted' - SO multi-talented. Thank you for sharing that! It troubles me, of course, to see even moreso now what fools we are to think we can survive with so few.....when there are so many more of us multiplying all the time.
And, below blue and purple (violet) also....7, yes, both blue and purple for sky (air) and spirit make so much sense and used by many, all validating each other in my mind and heart. In one spiritual 'school' I am part of it is extended to nine colours, and in some to twelve - almost like how many colours are there in the rainbow? Often is 7, the school I grew up with says 9...like how many chakras are there? Often is 7, the school I grew up with is 9....how many cavities in the body? 5 - pelvic, abdominal, thoracic, cranial.....plus the fifth - the dorsal cavity that connects all the other four. Sorry to expand so, just lots of random thoughts coming off the posts of others. I am so grateful for the vast array here!!

| Native American Spirituality Posted: 7/22/2008 7:42:40 AM | I don't know if this is what tyll are talking about, but there are 7 Lakota colors that are honoured. These are the colors in the walutta (sp) and many prayer ties are done in these colors. Yellow - Spirits of the East-illumination and new beginnings; White - Spirits of the South - Relationships and playtime; Black - Spirits of the West; dreamtime; Red - Spirits of the North - Wisdom of the Elders; (these four colors also stand for the 4 races of man; then. Green - Mother Earth; Blue- Father Sky; and Purple, Great Mystery. Not sure if these are the colors that are spoken of, but these are the sacred Lakota Sioux colors.
