Asking if someone does drugs is just as bad as asking do you have sex on the first date !

Just for the hell of it, and to shut stupid people up, I did some quick research on the topic of pot OD. There have been no reported cases of death from overdose on marijuana. The amount that it would take to actually overdose seems to be in question, but here are a few numbers I found:
To overdose, you would have to consume 40,000 times as much marijuana as you needed to get stoned.
One US gov't study said you'd have to smoke 1/3 your body weight to OD.
Another said it would be 1500 pounds.
In conclusion:
Legal? Not currently.
Dangerous? Less so than alcohol.
Recommended for people who already talk out of their asses? Jesus, I wish they'd just STFU now, you'd have to gag them after a couple tokes.

Well I smoked a couple joints one time with some buddies when I was younger and they didn't make me sleepy at all. In fact I never got a buzz either!
Bennies are supposed to keep you awake but they don't really work at all. As their just coffee extracts and anyone who normally drinks coffee won't get anything from bennies.
Yes people have OD on pot before and I even have heard it on the news years ago .
But then most never take notice when they hear someone OD'd on pot .!
But as for you people who love coke or crack or snort it be my guest and enjoy as at least you'll get the H for sure !
And the H does not stand for a high either !LOL

I would also like to know how come many of the people who say that they smoke pot do not indicate that they are smokers in their profiles (which is not just for nicotine)? Is osmosis the new method for getting your fix? | |

Posted: 6/6/2008 7:27:05 AM | I think a lot of people are missing the OP's question. It is not a debate about whether drugs should or should not be used, but if you will admit to it on here. I have seen several people that said "no" to the drug use question and yet admit they smoke pot. Sorry...pot is an illegal recreational drug. If you really think it isn't a big deal, then be honest and mark yes to drug use. Again, it isn't a judgement.
For various reasons, some people do not wish to be around any illegal drug use at all, and it would be nice for them to know upfront that someone that contacts them is a drug user. Again, it doesn't make the user a bad person, but it is a personal preference for both the "user" and the other person. Respect each other and respect the choices of the other person. | |

Posted: 6/6/2008 9:50:48 AM | You cant OD on pot. Its impossible. At worst you will throw up which some may consider ODing, however, in my opinion vomitting is not a form of overdosing. To me overdosing is fatal or near fatal.
Pot is basically poisoning yourself which creates euphoria. However, the amount to poison and then kill yourself is more then anyones body can consume, therefore its IMPOSSIBLE to have a fatal overdose on weed.
For those who think you can OD on pot, you have not researched it and you are beleiving in something you dont know anything about. Anyone who knows anything about Pot knows you cannot OD.
Just because you say it can happen does not make it so.
As for whether or not i would put this on my profile, i think my profile speaks for itself.
I have no problem letting people know my lifestyle. I dont live my life and try to be perfect, i accept my imperfections and i try to enjoy life to the fullest. I work full time in a very difficult and challenging job and im counted on daily from my coworkers to provide them with the technical answers they need to get their jobs done.
Pot is like having a beer after work for me, it relaxes me and takes away stress which otherwise would be pent up.
Do i need to smoke everyday? nope. It is nice though, but i wont be grumpy if i dont have it.
From the people i know in this city ive found that more then half the people i have met smoke or smoked at one time of their lives, and they never regretted it....however i see lots of alcoholics who are in denial, or ex-alcoholics who regret their alcoholism...this doesnt happen with pot which makes it better the alcohol.
Id rather have a stadium full of potheads then a stadium full of drunk people...alteast you can have intelligent conversations with a pothead, all drunks are good for is drool and sleep.
I dont consider Pot a drug, i consider it much less then that. I equate it to catching poison ivy...except it feels way better. Its natural, cant kill you, and makes you feel good.....calling it a drug is a human ploy to make us all feel guilty but in fact its a natural substance like caffeine....some call that a drug too...but i find those kinds of people have their panties in a bunch most times... | |

I just thought I'd share my story, however. I met my current GF of two months on POF and my profile said I did not do drugs. After a few days with her I discovered she wasnt that averted to weed, and started resuming my normal toking.
She might care in other circumstances but she doesnt here (and I ask all the time). I'm just conscious to its effect on our relationship. If I think its going to make me tired I'l have sex with her prior to smoking, or if Im meeting her family or friends I wont puff at all. In the end it probably comes down to the fact that I've smoked so much in my lifetime, that I'm not very visibly different high than sober, which is ironic because a LESSER pothead would probably have a much harder time having it accepted in their relationship. | |

Alcohol can make you so drunk you will black out and still walk and talk as if your concious, but your not. Weed cant do that...its not even close to the same level its far less, its about 5 levels below alcohol, its closer to eating poisonous mushrooms then drinking booze. I dont understand how you can make the two equal...
As for saying you didnt smoke, then realized she was cool with it, you basically went into the relationship lying, then when you found out she didnt care, you resumed your normal life.
I cant understand why someone would lie or leave information out just to get a girlfriend. Your either proud of the choices you make or your not and to not mention it on a dating site to me shows how scared you were at being judged, When you should of been proud of who you are.
Atleast you got lucky and met someone who doesnt care if you smoke or not, if you found out she hated weed my guess is you would of quit, until you got comfortable in the relationship then started up again...i say this because i did the exact same thing. Now i realize its better to be brutally honest, then slightly misleading.
Now i live with my wings wide open and i dont care if im judged harshly for my choices. Im proud of who i am and what i do, if only more could be like that it would make dating so much easier.

Young people who do not smoke marijuana end up with a better quality of life and higher levels of educational achievement than their peers who do smoke marijuana. Those who do smoke pot early in life have lower incomes and greater health problems later in life, according to a study. Dr. Phyllis Ellickson, of the Rand Corporation's Drug Policy Research Center, and her colleagues analyzed survey data from 5,833 California and Oregon middle school students. The participants completed surveys six times over a 10-year period between the ages of 13 and 23. Later, 44 percent of them responded to survey questions at age 29.
Of the 5,833 participants, 3,185 identified themselves as marijuana users, while 2,648 reported they did not use marijuana. The scientists divided the marijuana smokers into four groups, based on the age at which they began using and their subsequent level of use.
Comparing responses from the marijuana users at age 29 with data from age-matched abstainers, researchers found that abstainers had an overall higher level of educational attainment, better health, greater life satisfaction, and a lower rate of other drug use.
In contrast, those who had reported a relatively high level of marijuana use at age 13 fared significantly worse than all other groups on overall health and yearly earnings.

That's just the tip of the iceberg... there are still all of the major health concerns. Quite simply, pot IS a drug, always has been and always will be. I don't care if it's a plant, there are stacks of evidence of the detrimental effects that marijuana can have on your life.
Don't believe your "High Times" magazines or your legalization movements; of course they're biased! Of course they'll tell you that cigarettes are worse for you!

The eyes show if you smoke regularly or even if you just had a joint.

And it is easy to spot a pot head any time as they don't act like those who don't smoke pot! but then thats just from someone who knows what to look for in the signs someone smokes pot or is a druggie .

But then POT smokers are just like any drug user they deny anything about their drugs affects & that its not addictive !

Posted: 6/7/2008 7:07:11 AM | Are Police doctors now? Cases of overdose would be listed in medical records. What police records may describe anything as is irrelelvant. Most citizens have full access to neither, so discussing a search of any such records is foolish.
In fact, it is possible to fatally overdose on many street drugs, but not all. The effects of some drugs may make you very ill, but will not cause a fatality. Nobody has to prove anything to anyone based on hearsay.

In the past 15 years, I've partaken exactly 3 times, none of those recently. In the 5 years before that (that is 16-20 years ago), it was probably once every couple of months or so. I'd hardly call that being a pothead. Besides, I preferred hash back in those days. 
And I am not wasting my time to seach police records to find files on poeple who have OD on pot.
And yet you insist that people waste their time proving you wrong. That just doesn't hold up. You wouldn't make a very good lawyer. The burden of proof is on the accuser. Innocent until proven guilty. Either give us some evidence, or stop making the accusations. If pot was a person, it could sue you for libel.
What precisely makes you an authority on the matter that we should simply take your word for it? | |

Theres more then just THC in a joint that causes the high everyone says pot gives them. Theres another two chemicals in pot that not only kills brain cells but also attacks your white blood cells and impairs their reproduction which can do more harm then you think. Oh and I did find one person very famous who od'd from pot !
Remember the two pot heads Cheech& Chong from those old movies??
Well yep the tall slim guy named Chong actually did die from OD-ng from Pot!
He mixed pot in a large toker and passed out after a wild party he had and never woke up ! It was do to the build up of THC in his body & lack of sleep which put him into a coma which combined with the other chemicals in pot slowly shut his system down and now hes smoken but only daisys!LOL

So obviously, in response to the OP, *I* would put that on my profile. It means there's no surprises, and no one has the right to get all huffy about it when or if we meet cuz if they read my profile they already knew. Not to mention, I bring it up in messages or on MSN before we meet, just to make sure it's kosher.
I also put that I smoke and drink and swear, I think I've been as honest as I can be, and if I didn't toke now and then or smoke or drink, I'd like to think that I'd be an open minded enough person not to judge others that do. The fact that you seem truly shocked about it and pretty rude as well, "put the pipe down..." just shows what kind of person you are.
As for everything else written, this subject will never be resolved, both sides will always have their own views or dillusions about pot. Without any scientific proof to back me up I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I agree with the person who said that you'd prolly fall asleep before you got through enough pot to OD. On the other hand, if you're talking about ppl who say they only smoked pot and ended up in the hospital for an OD, you might wanna find out if their joint was laced with something harder.
Pot should be legal, just think of how much money the government would make on those taxes! I'll bet they are already working on a way to make it legal, and have probably been doing so for years. It wouldn't shock me at all to see it legalized within the next 15-20 years. | |
