I hope that all of you are able to find a ride :)
I have personally rode on Cw (chad's) bike and he's very correct - his back seat is very small.
We rode the route last night and we have it perfected (YAY) - it should be a great route. Our stops will be Berne Station, Dillion Dam, and Papa Boos. I'll post the route tonight so everyone has a copy.
Mike - glad to hear that you're still coming.

| 06-21-2008 --- Motorcycle Run (From Bonfire Around The Buckeye Lake Area) Posted: 6/20/2008 9:45:41 AM | It is JUST A RIDE........that's it....nothing more. We're not trying to match-make people. If a ride was offered and you didn't respond.....then you're outta luck. Guess you really didn't want to ride all that bad. To the men that have been kind enough to offer.....I thank you for making the jesture. We are all friends in this group and we just go riding to have a good time. We actually enjoy each others company, and we have a blast. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and having a great ride. Looks like it's going to be a beauty of a day!!! | |

Don't take it personally..... When I went on the Hocking Hills run I ran into the same thing. These ladies are smart cookies. Just come to the run and enjoy yourself. I'm sure you'll have a passanger on the next run. Once they get to know you a little, you'll have no problems getting someone to ride with ya...

The same with men. It's difficult knowing whether a rider is familiar with riding or is the correct size for his bike and his ability to carry her. The mistake people make is not posting in these bike forums so people can get to know you before riding with you. You'll notice that the regular posters are getting rides. Then once you go on one ride, you'll know people even better and may even change riding from biker to biker.
My advice is to get involved with the thread first, and you may be surprised at how many offers you get to ride. Guys, the same! Let your personality be known here in this forum!

I understand what you are saying....been there....You've done your part so don't worry about it. Ya never know....Diesel may take you up on your offer when ya get their... It's just time to have some fun and get to know everybody their. This is a fun group to be with, but I personally think you are correct to an extent.......some people are looking at this as a "date" and not just a group of people out having fun. We can't change that. Most of the group know that this is just a bunch of fun loving people out to enjoy the ride.
Oh .....by the way.....if you have a pair of handcuffs.... you might want to bring them...

I've been getting invites to a lot of these gatherings but have never attended nor have I posted in any forums. I've decided what the heck, I'll show up for this one, worst thing that can happen is I have a terrible time ( which I kinda doubt that after looking over this forum). I plan to at least show up for the ride and probably won't stay over night ... hard to carry much camping gear on the bike.
I have noticed that many women are looking for rides and some men are looking for passengers. I've been riding for many years, and I have never asked anyone to just jump on and lets go without knowing what experience they have. There can be problems when an inexperienced passenger doesn't know the etiquette of riding. If I ride alone or ride with someone I plan to meet new people and have fun. I'm going to try to get there around noon, I do have an empty rear seat so don't be afraid to come talk to me. You will find me at the rear of the pack.

There are several of us that have oversized tents. I'll have my 4-person with me, so grab your sleeping bag and some clean underware and join right in with the group.
And if you have a pair of handcuff.....bring them too....Diesel can get a little wild at times.....

Maybe not a good Idea for me to ride with anyone after reading some of these post since I am inexperienced. I have never ridden on a motorcycle but, it looks like a hell of a time. I am a quick study and I follow directions well:) Im a tall gal so, a small bike probabaly not a good idea. Wasn't eveybody a bike virgin once??????

I've been riding for many years, and I have never asked anyone to just jump on and lets go without knowing what experience they have. There can be problems when an inexperienced passenger doesn't know the etiquette of riding. That goes both ways! I won't ride with someone that I know nothing about their riding habits or experience.
If I haven't seen for myself (because of being on the same ride as them), or they haven't been recommended by someone that does know them, and I trust their opinion... I'm not willing to ride with them.
It's about safety... for both the biker and the passenger!

Believe it or not, you've taken the first step in becoming a good passanger....HONESTY. If I didn't already have a passanger, I would take you. Being a "good passanger" is not a big deal, but the biker HAS to know your level of experience or lack there of. As long as we know what we have to work with, we can deal with what happends. The important thing is WE HAVE TO KNOW. I know on this run, I'll have an experienced passenger, but she has to know what I expect or her, and I have to know what SHE expects from me. (Cat... I'm not talking about sex here.. ) Please do NOT give up in your desire to get into this area of socializing. Bike runs are a BLAST and these people are truely the best. The "regulars" on these runs have ridden with eachother on several runs, so they already know what each biker expects and vis-versa. As long as you're honest about your level of experience, most bikers are more then willing to teach you the ropes...
