| Murdered, her history ends here. But Leila was a hero Posted: 9/14/2008 3:11:52 PM | The only stipulation on giving aid is that it should be used for it's intended purposes, and if not, the grant becomes a loan and the aiding country has the opportunity to beggar a government for their deceit.
The point of sovereignty is that no nation have control over the morals and ethics of another, and that does need to be respected. Obviously, if they infringe on your nation's sovereignty rights, that's a different story, but this isn't the case. Therefore, we don't really have a say.
btw OP, "suffrage" is the right to vote. The only suffering involved there is determining which candidate is the lesser of the evils :P

saddam was a major factor of a delicate balance in a ruthless society. now he was removed and everything started fulling apart. all hells broken loss, i guess we all pay the price for the mess somehow, but the people of iraqis just pay for their lives..

But Leila was a hero Posted: 9/14/2008 4:36:06 PM | one of my sons godparents is over there, his 4th tour of duty . to this day , he will tell you , he is not willing to speak to any of the women ... he is not willing to be responsible , if something would happen any of them ... he said its hard , they are hard workers and at times he has to catch him self , to not say thank you , to one of them ... he will instead address there translater or the husband ... he hates it , but he always tells us , if that is what keeps them safe , then Im willing to do that ... he believes or better hopes , that them women that are helping know he apreciates it , from the bottom of his heart ... he , has 1 family that he is very close to , but any gifts or food or help that he is able to give , he will give to the husband .... even toys for the kids , he will not disrespect the head of the house , and give them to the kids at first , he ask permission to do so .... its sad , but as he sais , if that will keep them safe ........ I dont believe much will change over there ,,,,, but our soldier have done so much good , but all we get over here is the bad stuff ... but to the story it self ... anybody that is connected with hussin , none of them is safe . I hoep they got that young man out of there , he disrespected the house of hussin , he will be next in line to die

But Leila was a hero Posted: 9/15/2008 11:56:41 AM | This problem isn't due to being JUST a 3rd or 4th world country as one poster says....this is a country that is under Islamic law and that is the issue! Never forget that it's a patriarchal society/culture and one steeped in the culture of death, this is just another indication or manifestation of that.
The US government needs to mind its own business at home! We have enough issues inside our borders to fix.

Then let's just keep our aid money and use it in the US and screw everybody else and what they want from us.

But Leila was a hero Posted: 9/16/2008 4:19:42 PM | Our government already withholds aid to international agencies that provide abortions or even counsel women on the options of abortion. Ironic that our government is more concerned about the unborn than it is about the actual human beings that are carrying that life.
Thank you for sharing this story... so many more go by without any acknowledgement at all. we will not be silenced...
