| The Next (5th) Brizzy Bike Ride , SUN 29th June , South/NSW Posted: 6/11/2008 9:36:23 PM | | Yeah , but they could do something about the state of the roads , those pot holes could only be described as TANK TRAPS. Only a matter of time til another rider gets killed on that Kyogle Rd. The 1m x 2m hole on the LHS over the fast straight blind crest was a doosie , glad I didnt hit it , I hear a couple of cars did and maybe did dammage , NO warning signs from the council or main roads , bad state of affairs. Riders be warned. | |

| The Next (5th) Brizzy Bike Ride , SUN 29th June , South/NSW Posted: 6/11/2008 9:46:19 PM | ^^^^^yep Pete absouletly correct.. i used to say years ago we shouldnt have to pay rego.. for our roads.... they are way improved..... stoney chute..(aptly named cause it was completely dirt rd... had to put the thumb on windscreen so try not let it shatter from flying rocks.. and the pot holes were like small manmade lakes) u used to drive down that and ffs if u had false teeth they woulda vibrated apart.. in fact if one of your teeth are loose you woulda lost it on that rd...... i actually had a car break down bals constrictor? ok thats way spelt wrong..(its a little wire on a much needed thingy that once u hit a major pot hole dies >>I know ...i know thats the techicnical term..lol... not)). hence killing the car then you have to push it off said dirt rd... not to mention dead tyres etc..(and yep we need rego checks here.. pink slips.. so anyone opening somewhere selling shockies would clean up) cant use retreads around here.. and you see how far out it is.. re walking home etc.. besides that
isnt the country side just soooooooooo nice.. edit not kyogle rd but main rd.. (in may)we had 3 bike accidents resulting in 2 deaths and 1 .. young phillip flown up to brissy.... and yes we as drivers get nervous re rds etc.. other drivers.. thats why for me... a nice slow ride on a bike after 10 years or more.. would be nice.. not into fanging it.. seen too much damage..

| The Next (5th) Brizzy Bike Ride , SUN 29th June , South/NSW Posted: 6/11/2008 10:21:57 PM | Soulmate...with that sort of technical knowledge and prior experience of walking when things break down you are perfect to be on the back of the Norton....plus the words and fanging don;t really go hand in hand with a 55 year old bike.......slow and steady is the go...cheers...
PS you guys had much rain down there of late ?

| The Next (5th) Brizzy Bike Ride , SUN 29th June , South/NSW Posted: 6/11/2008 10:40:32 PM | actually sam i went into town today and just sat in the sun..... been a few days since we had rain... and i must say alot of pple have pepped up abit.. b/c the rain.. leaky abodes cant hand wash ... etc.. can get pple down... so not for a couple days have we had rain.. fanging it is a techinical term i learnt growing up in sydney lol.. and yes why im particuarly drawn to the norton...
as for walking? ha ha ha.. all my cars from the 1st 1 ive had to push at one time or another..... i loved the hg premier but damn what a buggar to push....
i now have a reliable car..
i dont walk much sam.. i tend to swear.. kick a tyre.. well years ago.. and wait until another car comes by.. lol sam the beautiful thing about dirt rds/country is when your car dies in the middle of a bridge.. nooone can pass you.. so whether they want too or not.. they gotta help push your car off the rd to get past u..
my family back then bought me a cell ph.. but no more cdma so ph dead.. lol lost the last car in a car accident on dirt rd.... so yep i know these rds.. i seen deaths/accidents.. and fast isnt cool. (although some bends are tempting for bikes) and still sore from impact...back/neck etc..
and now i have a reliable car... although recently hit a fooking pot hole in nimbin..... yep raining.. tyre slashed........ lucky i parked in town...... found out the newer cars dont even give u a spare.. but a thing called a space saver...... bloody cheap i say.. so then i had to arrange a lift to get 3okms to lismore to get a tyre... then back.. so bugger it i bought 2 tyres.. then scouted for a spare rim..... and now i have a spare.. tyre .. cause living in the bush... im not going through that again..

| The Next (5th) Brizzy Bike Ride , SUN 29th June , South/NSW Posted: 6/12/2008 4:21:00 AM | | ahh Soulmate, you are such a resourceful person...many would not have gotten the second tyre....very clever indeed.....and i agree how ordinary it is to have the skinny modern spare tyre that can only do a maximum of 80kph....a HG premier, now that does take me back.....mine was a three on the column and the linkages used to get stuck and at the traffic lights, I would have to get out and raise the bonnet and jiggle them then get back in and drive off....great fun ..and a bloody heavy car......yes I agree fast isnt cool...i have had my share of "incidents" in my younger days in cars and bikes and am more than happy these days to enjoy the scenery when out and about rather than watching a blur.....hope ur week has been joyful and full of happy things | |

| The Next (5th) Brizzy Bike Ride , SUN 29th June , South/NSW Posted: 6/12/2008 6:49:45 PM | | I hit that one, was barely able to pull the bike over to the right hand (Shallow end) and keep it upright. Met a bloke at Grevillia who said his mate had hit it and come off on Sat. He'd have grounds to sue I wouldn't wonder! | |

| The Next (5th) Brizzy Bike Ride , SUN 29th June , South/NSW Posted: 6/12/2008 7:58:11 PM | Too right , blind fast crest , massive pot hole 2m x 1m at least , no signs , no warning , its been there for months , well at least the last two times I have been that way and I only just remembered it and wasnt going slow either. Definately grounds to sue , for sure. Id be a witness that it was poorly marked and has been there for at least two months.
Cheers
Pete

Been there many times on my rides & often back through Nimbin & The Channon & Dunnoon & home.... I love the area but just too far from everything I like.......not that I like it in Byron that much either....just getting too crowded with tourists these days & the traffic is horendous sometimes.....enough of my soap box..... Thanks for that quick phone call the day of the ride...that was very respectful....allowed me to concentrate on the road once I knew you weren't going to be there........The ride on the 29th, that is this ride, is down our way......come on the bike with me.....I'll take it easy & we can rest regularly.......just want to get you out in the world......your whiplash can take it if mine can.........go'on....go'on. Catcha..... Phil
