Erm, what? If a women is in exactly the same ratio of a calorie deficit as the man, doing the same ratio of excercise and metabolic rate acounted for, then this is simply not true.
Women's bodies are genetically predisposed to retain higher bodyfat levels, in case we have to support a fetus, and/or see a baby through the period of breastfeeding. Also women are more prone to having thyroid issues. Thus losing weight might be harder, but not impossible.

Secondly, women do not need to get down to the same bodyfat levels as a man to look in shape. So it's all relative, thyroid and other issues aside. I guess maybe I've gone off topic, but yeah I guess you guys do have it harder, but its not impossible to reach the same level with adaptions in other areas.

OK, that seems to be the case, but higher doesn't excuse/medicalize, for genetic reasons, that 2/3 of US women have clinical excess weight. Higher female lean bodyfat percentage is defined as only a few percent more than men.
I guess you've heard that women who put on excess weight in pregnancy (totally unnecessary and counter-productive) and eat excessive fats and carbs pre-disponse the child to obesity, diabetes, and early puberty?

| 6 months = 45 lbs Posted: 6/27/2008 4:53:28 PM | Average female body fat is 25-31 percent, average male body fat is 18-25 percent, so that's a difference of 6 to 7 percent, and that difference makes a HUGE difference in metabolic rate.
I personally started strength training in my 30s. I can now eat a lot more than I could 20 years ago and I'm slimmer. I also wear smaller sizes than I did at the same weight in my younger years.
Don't kid yourself, that difference in lean mass is a big deal.

| 6 months = 45 lbs Posted: 6/27/2008 8:58:11 PM | I lost 30 lbs in six weeks, so you go ahead and kick that fats as!
YAHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
try lifting dumbells, the more muscle you have the more you burn calories and fat
all I really did was the following: cut 500 calories from my diet, ate more healthy foods, cut out all fired foods, junk foods and milk products, but I upped the water, did running, jogging, lifting, and catching and throwing footballs, I also took vitamins like B-complex for energy, cut out caffeine, and watched FIT tv and did the sharon mann, and gilad workout shows, about one to two hours per day in the afternoons.
it's possable, just be safe and be fit! :)

| 6 months = 45 lbs Posted: 6/28/2008 12:10:41 PM | ^ ^ ^ ^ Are you serious? Reading is fundamental. Scroll up or click on my "history" link.
I could bury you in 10,000 medical references, but it seems pointless to make references to what is common knowledge -- to everyone except you that is.
