@Apologist:

I have to pose the same question to you that" StrangerInThe house" already posted. Do you eat lobster, crab and shrimp?

Leviticus 11:10 "And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:"

I also ask "Do you eat pork?

Leviticus 11:7 " And the pig, for though it divides the hoof, thus making a split hoof, it does not chew cud, it is unclean to you.

I ask these questions of you because I do not see the reasoning of the
"Bible Thumpers" concerning the Scriptures dealing with gays but ignoring the Scriptures dealing with food. Aren't these all sins?
You write of Old Testament Law, my friend. And I am very well aware of what It states.
As a Christian, I am no longer under the Law but under grace. (New Testament)
The New Testament condemns homosexuality as sin whereas It does not the consumption of pork or seafood.
Feel free to search for even one NT passage describing the act of eating either as sin, and if found, I will agree not to eat them.

I think... think... operative word... that somewhere in the bible, it states that the food laws were for the Jews...but, all laws were for all People. Had to do with 'rituals' of which the NT takes the food and sacrificing rituals away via the Grace of Jesus. However, does not negate, and is specifically mentions .. does not negate... the other Laws.

Anyway... onto another subject about Obama re' today's News. Obama has issued that more troops need to be sent to Afghanistan now.. and not wait until Nov. And, not for the troops to come from Iraq...until months....year later. Soooo, is Obama saying for Bush to send more troops to Afghan now..now..now... those who are in the USA.. strapping us more rather than calling on the UN to send troops from other Countries? I think so. See, this keeps Obama in good graces with other Nations and puts the blame on Bush. Duh!

This, alongwith the NY Times telling McCain that they will not print his views on Iraq unless McCain comes in line with Obama's stand... is getting (on other forums) the Republicans fired up... really fired up. They will be making sure they vote in Nov.

Bye Bye Obama...

Im curious what it is your excited about? Your enthusiamsm gives me the impression that your excited about young americans dying FOR NOTHING. So what is the Taliban now our enemy? How did that come to pass? And of course Al Queida or whatever, there going to shoot at us from Afghanistan? Hmmm, how about McBush or Obama really protecting us and closing the borders. Neither will so really, whats our motive over there? Sorry I guess it just makes to much sense that if we want a secure country it starts on our border. Good lord we have plunged into complete insanity.

Ooooooooookay... but here's what it says in the new testament also:

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

SO again I'll ask: is someone who swindled someone, didn't give money to a beggar, stole a pen or pad of paper from work, has an effeminate nature, or gotten drunk, OR IS A HOMOSEXUAL, .... as evil as a murderer or rapist?

What right does anyone have to condemn homosexuals even on a religious basis, when they're almost certainly guilty in at least one instance of the other sins above?

What right does anyone have to condemn any politician for supporting homosexual rights in secular society, outside the church?

FYI:
"The Abominations"
*To Condemn Homosexuality: Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."
*To express the idea that the Egyptians considered themselves as defiled when they ate with strangers (Gen. 43:32).
*The Jews subsequently followed the same practice, holding it unlawful to eat or drink with foreigners (John 18:28; Acts 10:28; 11:3).

This where I have serious issues with organized religion.

Gay people should be accepted for who they are. No one has the right to tell anyone how to live their lives. Just because some stupid book written thousands of years ago claims its wrong? Lol, wow....

I'm glad Obama doesn't have an issue with gays, good for him[/quote

I agree and here is why. Homosexuality is not contagious. You either are or your not. What you find with these hyper judgemental types is this, afraid to look in the mirror. Ok so say its a super sin to be gay. NOT YOUR PROBLEM. It like radical muslims who say if you dont belive in what we belive, off with your head! Keep your own side of the street clean, worry about what YOU ARE DOING. Its no ones buisness what people do behind closed doors. Now, having said that, I am against gay marriage, thats for me. But some people are gay and thats their buisness so long as they dont push it on me.

You know, maybe we need Jacobus or even Fiddler in here to answer this one. I'm not a Bible historian....but weren't those things laws before the Bible was written? They might not even be the laws of God, they might be the laws of man. Maybe if they wrote the Bible today, they would say (1) And thou shall not eat thy neighbor, you shall not window peek at his naked wife and children, (2) you shall not buy SUV's.....

Ahhhhhh Padawan. Let's open a window. These ideas need some fresh air, girl!

Obama is saying to move the troops. Move, not add. He's saying hey the real action is happening in Afghanistan, bad stuff going down, and Bin Ladin is still somewhere hiding in a cave there....let's put the troops where they were meant to be.

In the Christian faith, as Obama claims to follow, you hate the sin but love the sinner. Thus, Christians love transvestites, but hate their high heels.

nice zinger! ~

I think the very subject would be impossible for MC Cain to discuss ~

He had a hard enough time address the dispartiy with insurance companies covering Vigra and not womens ? ~~ "stuff" haha , hehe

Can you imagine what he might say? ~ I can't ~

Is there no place Obama won't go?

It'd be nice to pretend it didn't exist ~ unless one have one in the family ofcoarse

I have to say, I have read through Obama and McCain's entire websites. Including all of their ideas and plans so that I could make my own judgement call. While some of Obama's ideas sound good, they are just too idealogical. They would probably never get off the ground and, if they did, they would cost way too much money to keep going. As for the argument some people make that we need a Democratic President because the Republican one we have now is bad, look at the Democratic congress that we have now. RIDICULOUS!!! They can't seem to get anything accomplished. I think the last I heard their approval rating with voters was 9%......that's really really sad and pathetic.

Funny quote from one of my friends...
"Clinton did pot. Obama did cocaine. The next democratic candidate with either drop acid or be a murderer."
hahaha I got a kick out of that one

No vision! ~ why bother ~ lets be real ~ tomorrow will be just like today.

void of hope! ~ Let's settle for what we know works!

The trinkle down theory! ~ It works ~ gravity operated ~ even a cave man can do it. ~

It's like being a Plumber, your are required to know so little.

Crap runs down hill

Payday is Friday

and

Don't bite your nails

The Same works ~ it gives you the same ~ you can count on it! Vote for Mc Same

Some of us see that "the same" will be impossible to sustain on this present course, if you don't see that ~ you are indeed very fortunate or ~~ short information.

and yes ~ Congress is disappointing ~ no leadership ~ no power base ~ fragmented ~ like everyone's afraid to rock the boat ~ somebody might see them ~ and ask for their money back!

if you wish to blame just the Dem's ~ You are partly right

In November, 2008, we will be singing, "Bye Bye Mr. McCain" It will be the day the dumb campaign ends, and we can finally move forward and say, "Hello President Obama!!"

Simmah is right--Obama wants to move the troops to Afghanistan, where they should have been in the first place, instead of diverted to Iraq.

That's because McCain is whining about Obama being the "rock star." Obama IS a rock star, and is popular for good reason. The Republicans are getting desperate

Obama lacks experience.
Obama is far Left... a Socialist and Middle America does not want this Country to escalate into Communism.
Obama has flip flopped on every issue he ran his Primary on.
Obama started the negativity in ads
Obama keeps evading the Town Meetings with McCain
Obama loves his 'photo ops'

Obama should not become President.

I think the original question was:

why would anyone vote for Obama for president?

Answer?

It would be to just feel good about something, even though your not doing anything. You just want to be part of change, even though "change" hasn't been defined to you yet, you just want it.

It's all part of a Utopian love affair that is not based on reality, in any way shape or form.

Just IMHO...

Not that it's part of this discussion but just got word that his campaign has made reservations at the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki on August 12 in case any were curious about his schedule.

Obama lacks experience in screwing the citizens with political stupidity.
Obama is far Left... a Socialist and Middle America does not want this Country to escalate into Communism if you have a narrow view of progressive thinking.
Obama has flip flopped on every issue he ran his Primary on if you believe republicans that have no sanity left.
Obama started the negativity in ads we've all yet to see.
Obama keeps evading the Town Meetings with McCain because he doesn't want to look like he's stomping McCain into the dirt
Obama loves his 'photo ops' compared to McLame who looks old and angry all the time.

Obama should not become President if you want to continue making your kids pay for republican failures.

Poll Finds 72 Percent of Americans Say McCain Would be Good Commander-in-Chief
ANALYSIS by GARY LANGER
July 14, 2008

Americans must have confidence in their next leader, and the polls show it.
Wow 72%, that leaves Ochangema with a measly 28%; shows who Americans are more confident with running this country.
Seems like McCain is catching up with the "second coming" in all other polls. I guess Obamy's propaganda world tour '08 has not done a thing for him.

I agree wholehearted with Faith. McCain is immature, and I would never trust him to be commander in chief. He acts too childishly and impulsively. He also is whining about Obama instead of talking about the issues. As I get older, the more turned off I get with the Republicans. One of my relatives who is a Republican is a first class jerk who calls people "stupid" if they refuse to read any of her right-wing propaganda. It's the same kind of maturity level that McCain shows on the national stage and I agree with Faith that this is a huge turnoff.

I once respected McCain when he was a maverick 10-15 years ago. But he's lost any shred of respect with his classless antics like that song about bombing Iran, and becoming a Bush clone. Even though I respected McCain back then, I still could not picture him as being president. Even then I thought he was too rash.

During a Friday interview on CNN's "The Situation Room," Republican candidate John McCain , who had opposed setting a timeline, appeared to shift ground. McCain said that 16 months "is a pretty good timetable" but must be based on conditions on the ground.

Looks like McCain, not to mention a Pentagon-funded study by the Navy Postgraduate school, is also indulging in a bit of arrogance.
