Red, I think you are suffering from a little known yet growing mental disease called Baracknaphobia.
Well some of us can sah-melll what Barack is cooking, and you know what? It stinks. It's overdone.

All your ills will be cured in a trial by fire kind of therapy when Barack becomes your new president.
I think you mean trial by "fire and brimstone".

I believe we should drill and at the same time continue to explore new forms of energy while protecting as much of nature as possible.
I sort of agree, but pulling more oil out of American soil isn't going to help adjust the American price for oil. What ought to be done is what you suggest, explore new energy sources, protect nature, and drill ONLY after there is some sort of regulation of the American oil industry where the oil companies are forced to increase their refining capacities. Then send the American crude to the American refineries and keep that refined petroleum INSIDE the United States, do not export any crude or refined oil anywhere. Extra crude will help the oil companies increase their obscene profits without necessarily alleviating the prices here.

Homer was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers (hens) called "pullets," and 10 roosters to fertilize the eggs. He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced.

This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance which rooster was performing. Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.

Homer's favorite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but one morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, could run for cover.

To Homer's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. Homer was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the County Fair and he became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the No-Bell Piece Prize, but they also awarded him the Pulletsurprise as well.

Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most highly coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention.

Vote carefully this year...the bells are not always audible.

I was watching CNN today and really do like what the republicans have to say about drilling in America. I also like how they have been drilling in LA and keeping the environment safe, but when Gov. Perry of Texas began to talk he started sounding too much like a republican and covering up for large corporations. That is what is really hurting their side. Also, McCain was so happy having Arnold on his side, but Arnold got on the platform and did not see eye to eye with McCain's vision.

Barack and Hillary seem to be making amends. He is also in the lead on all national polls.

The republicans do have good idea's they just appear to money conscience and hold on to a few old idea's and we really do need to move pass that thinking.

Let us see what will happen. I truly feel that we can find away to drill in an environmentally safe manner while finding new ways to develop energy. The electric drills in LA were pretty nice.

What is Dobson talking about if he does not see a good candidate just do not vote. Is he advocating that people that do not see a good candidate just not vote. He just wanted to be on the media. (He is the minister that does not care for Obama or McCain. He told the media he would not vote for any of the candidates including Hillary. This will the first election in his life in which he just did not vote.)
Who cares?

He is also in the lead on all national polls.

The two are nearly tied in national voter preferences, 46% for Obama and 44% for McCain.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/108208/Gallup-Daily-Obama-46-McCain-44.aspx

I should think those voting preferences will change when the Obama book comes out in a couple months that tells the mainstream public the things the rest of us are aware of on the blogs. Thanks to all those people who have so freely shared the Obama "secrets" it will now become a one stop published piece of work.

He can cry victim as much as he wants. It's not going to change the documented facts. haha

JUST IN FROM CANADA

Dear US Citizens,
We in Canada cannot figure out why you are even bothering to hold an
election in the USA .

On one side, you have a b itch who is a lawyer, married to a lawyer...
running against a lawyer who is married to a b itch who is a lawyer.

On the other side, you have a war hero married to a good looking
woman with big breasts who owns a beer distributorship.

Is there a contest here?'

Sincerely,

Your Friends from Canada

I am really kinda hoping Obama will pick up Clinton as his VP that would be 36 million votes between the two of them. What do you think?

That's really not funny. As a pregnant woman, I shudder to think that I am bringing a child into a world where she will be judged on breast size and the way she looks, rather than what is in her brain and heart. Accuse me of not having a sense of humor, but I do not think it's funny that McCain thinks I'm too STUPID to make my own choices with my body (Roe v. Wade), that he thinks I'm not WORTH IT to have access to breast cancer screening (as he showed by voting against funding for that little endeavor) and that I'm not CAPABLE enough or enough of an ASSET to anybody to make the same pay as a man (by his voting AGAINST an act that would have required companies to pay men and women equitably).

I am no angry feminist. But I am a gosh darn human being, and I expect to be treated like one.

Save your booby jokes for other individuals with a similar sense of decency, but I will not have myself or other women demeaned in front of me without saying anything about it. We are intelligent and strong, and we have worked as hard as the days are long to get a fraction of what men take forgranted every day. Show us a little respect.

You're right. You don't have a sense of humour.

It was a harmless joke. It wasn't directed towards you and I bet if Cindy McCain heard it she would snicker because she's not only beautiful, but she has a heart AND a brain.

As for abortion -- it was not designed to be used as a form of birth control.

...he thinks I'm not WORTH IT to have access to breast cancer screening (as he showed by voting against funding for that little endeavor)

He's not stopping you from having your breast cancer screening. You just want a FREE breast cancer screening, right?

If you can afford to be pregnant with a child then you must obviously be able to afford a breast cancer screening. --that child is gonna cost ALOT more than a breast cancer screening.

and that I'm not CAPABLE enough or enough of an ASSET to anybody to make the same pay as a man (by his voting AGAINST an act that would have required companies to pay men and women equitably).

There ARE laws in place for equal pay for equal work.

Out of courtesy, I'm not even going to go down that road about you being pregnant and putting in an equatable days work.

I am no angry feminist. But I am a gosh darn human being, and I expect to be treated like one.

I beg to differ. I think you ARE an angry feminist.

As for the joke? Although I RARELY forward jokes, I thought it was so funny I did e-mailed it to my friends.

I think he's probably afraid of somehow meeting an early demise if he picks her for VP. I'm sure he's googled the Clinton body count at least once.

I think Eric missed the joke.

Why do liberals fail to see the humor in life?

Another question ... Why did Barack Obama play the race card this week?

“It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy,” Obama told a fundraiser in Jacksonville, Florida. “We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid.
“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”

kaos86, he is not playing the race card....he is stating the facts!
Just look around at some of the comments on some of these threads......you'll see people referring to him as the a '47 year old black boy', others declaring that he is BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA and yet others saying he is inexperienced.
He is prepared for the Republican machine and he can handle it!

Brandie no one from the McCain's team nor John McCain has done this.
In fact it was the Dems more specifically the Clintons that played the race card.\

I seriously doubt that Obama is reading the forums here on POF.
Obama played it first in the general election.
Is he a race baitor?

kaos86, I was addressing your comment that Obama was playing the race card. I've been following him for over a year and have read the same article that you read, and I still do not see how you arrived at the conclusion that he is a race baitor.
I agree that the ones who first brought race into this campaign were the Clintons, and that was when they lost my support.
I can assure you that playing the race card or race baiting will not win Obama this election and that is not a campaign strategy.
Peace!
Obama 2008

Edit: Intrepid.....I trust Obama's excellent leadership abilities and sound judgment over McCain's perceived experience from being a POW over 40 years ago. And that in no way means I do not respect his military experience and what he went through as a POW.......I just don't think that kind of experience is a requirement for keeping us safe.

Recent news articles point out that many more trust McCain to handle the situation in Iraq. With his military background and Obama's total lack of one - that is easy to understand. With things starting to heat up a little more over there its even more important to go with experience.

I did not say he was a race baitor I asked the question based on his recent speech in which he said the Republicans will try and scare people by saying "he is black"!

He said it not me or John McCain.

Intrepidinv i don't believe National Security will play enough of a roll in this election to get McCain elected.
I believe the economy will win this for Obama.

Scientists prove Politicians Stupid

Recent studies of the human brain have discovered many distinct features. Scientists have realized that inside our brain is a reptilian brain. Reptiles having among the least amount of intelligence in the animal kingdom. This area of the brain is responsible for the dominance hierarchy behavior in animals. Meaning it’s function is basic survival and climbing the status ladder so to speak. So invariably people always trying to rise to the top of the social/economic ladder are using the least intelligent area of their brain. Thus politicians being among the highest positions in our society are the epitome of this.

Hmm . . . . let me think about that one. Are we saying that the entire US has been hallucinating and Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush and Laura Bush are actually good looking blondes with big breasts?

Further, what makes anyone say that Cindy McCain has big breasts or even better has FAKE breasts? The woman looks pretty average to me, along with those white streaks flowing through her hair.

Hardly looks like someone trying to recapture her youth.

Cindy McCain doesn't own a beer company, her family owns a distributing company for Anheiser-Busch.. the Busch family owns Anheiser-Busch! Plus Stepford wives scare the **** outta me. There is no WAY that I could vote for some Michael Jackson, space-alien, Barbie dolls gone bad lookin candidates. The plastic Surgery has run its course folks. There are several $billion reasons and thousands of lives for not voting for the Mccain family.

Out of courtesy, I'm not even going to go down that road about you being pregnant and putting in an equatable days work

Actually, I work at a major newspaper in a metropolitan area. Not only do I put in an "equitable" day's work, I've generated the most revenue in my department in the past year. So thanks for assuming that my condition prevents me from working as hard as others. I actually work harder because I need to keep my job MORE because I'm expecting. My benefits and insurance are too good for me to jeopardize. I may have to take a few extra bathroom trips, but that's about it. And snidely saying something that you won't say out of "courtesy" is the same as saying it, which is fairly rude, not to mention an incorrect and uninformed assumption.

I'm college educated. I make a great salary and my fiance is starting work as a high school teacher in September. Not hurting for money. Great insurance. My concern is for women not as financially fortunate as myself to be able to protect themselves against breast cancer. While I don't need free screenings, there are a large number of women who would. I can't justify supporting a presidential candidate who would deny anyone that right.

And what many people fail to understand about abortion is that overturning Roe v. Wade would only prevent low-income women from getting abortions. Wealthier women would be able to get their abortions in other countries or through the pill, which would likely triple in value if Roe v. Wade were to be overturned. Pretty obvious. Outlawing abortion wouldn't stop it; it would just stop disadvantaged women from getting one.

Why assume that I care about platforms because I feel they will benefit me directly? No, I do not need universal health care. I do not need free breast cancer screenings, and I won't have any need for an abortion in my life. But I feel others would have use for those things, and I wouldn't support a candidate who makes it a part of his platform to deny people those rights. I don't look at a platform and think, "What's in it for me?" I look at a platform and think, "What's in it for America?"
