| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 8:39:41 AM | | I'll bow to an historian on this one but my understanding is that the Big Three automakers and their associated industries lobbied heavily and succesfully to restrict mass transit in the United States in favour of super highway systems that supported the automobile. This didn't occur in Europe, for many reasons, some of which have been edified here. | |

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 2:14:33 PM | This is interesting reading:
Have you noticed a change in Barack Obama’s campaign? Instead of avoiding controversies over values, religion and race, he seems to welcome them and he wades into the debates with an increasing enthusiasm.
Characterizing how the Republicans will attack him, he predicted that they would criticize his “funny name” and add “and by the way, did you notice that he’s black?”
Obama used to go out of his way to avoid this kind of reference, but now he brings it on. Deliberately.
Why?
Obama and the conservative right are mutually trying to keep the debate about his candidacy on the existential level — is he the hope for America’s future or a Manchurian Candidate, a kind of sleeper agent sent to destroy our democracy?
That debate, which pits Obama’s rhetoric against the Rev. Wright’s rantings, is a contest that could go on all day, and Obama would win it. It is simply a bridge too far to believe that Obama is that evil and that invidious. But the more the debate covers such fundamental questions, the more it ignores the details — details which could bring Obama down.
Quite simply, Obama would rather address his religious views and his optimism about America and his embrace of diversity than talk about his plans to raise taxes, let gasoline prices soar, and socialize healthcare.
Consider his proposals:
In effect, he would legislate a 60 percent tax bracket for upper-income Americans, killing all initiative and innovation. He’d raise the top bracket to 40 percent. He’d apply FICA taxes to all income, not just that under $100,000 as at present.
So add 40 percent plus FICA’s 12.5 percent plus Medicare’s 2 percent plus state and local taxes averaging, after deduction, at 5 percent-6 percent, and you have a 60 percent bracket.
He would double the capital gains tax, saddling the 50 percent of Americans who own stock with dramatically higher taxes.
He’d double the dividend tax, hitting elderly coupon-clippers now retired and depending on fixed incomes.
He wants to cover 12 million illegal immigrants with federally subsidized health insurance, dramatically driving up costs and forcing federal rationing of healthcare. As in the U.K. and Canada, you will not be permitted certain medical procedures if the bureaucrats decide you are not worth it.
He proposes requiring Homeland Security operatives to notify terror suspects that they are under investigation within seven days of starting the investigation.
He says that unless they can establish that there is “probable cause to believe that a certain individual is linked to a specific terrorist group,” Homeland Security cannot seize his documents and search his business. The current standard is only that the search be “relevant” to a terror investigation.
He does not oppose $5-per-gallon gasoline but only says that he wishes there had been a more “gradual adjustment” to the higher prices.
Obama can talk about the Rev. Wright and flag lapel pins and his wife’s love of America all day long. But what he resists is a specific discussion of his own plans for our country. That’s the discussion he fears and he avoids. And it’s the discussion John McCain must force upon him if he is to have any realistic chance of winning the election.

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 3:05:15 PM | I guess good ole Mr Morris (a hilarious reference, by the way) and Eileen didn't quite get the memo from this afternoon's meeting with the press then. Here's one of the talking points; Obama intends to step into the role of the Commander in Chief and actually take that responsibility back from the current military *ahem* folks who have been pulling the puppet strings on The Decider. It's a hilarious notion really....a Commander in Chief who actually acts in the best interests of the US. Everyone can go ahead and froth at the spin trough all they want. He's saying clearly and emphatically today....he WILL act as Commander in Chief and as such he WILL 'decide the mission.' Sixteen months and we're all out.......if Mr. Morris and Eileen use their lil toes even they can count that high. Hang on everyone.....our troops are coming home. Obama '08 | |

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 3:08:04 PM | Flyonthewall,
Once again you are right.
I said work with the public in posting 175 in another forum. I am sorry I meant public servant.
Many public servants do not work in those fields for the money (i.e...many doctors, teachers, administrators (public school i.e.. principals, superintendents), policemen, nurses, librarians, attorneys (public defenders) local judges and some honest politicians etc.)
Yes, some of those positions may reach salaries that go far beyond 100,000.00 per year and my goal is to get there when I finish my PH.D. (2 or 3 times those salaries), for many (majority) due to higher levels of education (Masters degree's, PH.D's, JD's etc.) their loan debt often reaches 30-100,000.00.
I was also confusing the Continent of Europe with the Country of the United States of America (post 614). Also, take into consideration the age of the countries and cities in the continent of Europe, which would effect the development or lack of development of many roads and therefore it being more feasible to drive a smaller (compact car).
Continent Size of Europe:
3,837,081 sq. miles
Percent of Earth's Land: 6.7%
To the Country of the United States of America:
United States total area: 3,537,441 square miles.
I should have been comparing it to our continent North America:
Continent Size:
9,449,460 sq. miles
Percent of Earth's Land: 16.5%
Now let us compare the Country of France to the State of Texas and or Alaska.
Geography Area: 551,670 sq. km. (220,668 sq. mi.); largest west European country, about four-fifths the size of Texas.
Alaska 1 656,425 square miles Texas 2 268,601 square miles
So, once again while I am calm please do not compare the continent of Europe (made of several countries) to the country the United States of America. But, we can agree that the country (which has separate leaders etc.) is smaller than Alaska or Texas.
Here in Houston (ranked #5) we have a horrible mass transit system. It does not compare to that of the one in DC. If I were living in DC even Detroit I would not have to use my car as much. While in DC I also noticed the streets were very small and I guess with the age of the city (no comparison with the age of Paris) there was no need for large or big streets and many people drive compact cars, use subways and walk to the store.
But, once again I live in Texas (large land mass, lots of open space, cars bigger for better travel). I am looking out my window and due to the fact the closest grocery store is a few miles away. I do not see anyone walking down my street with groceries. While in the inner city I do see people catching the bus to get groceries. But, in my suburb we do not have a mass transit system; just park and ride, to go into the city for work and then back home at the end of the work day.
It is nice that you have three homes, then you should relate to Obama (considered and elitist) the price of gas does not effect you at the rate it is effecting us working/middle/upper middle class people.
Yes, my car has a V8 engine, but I also have one son attending (Fisk/Howard University and has studied alone the coast of West Africa, Brazil, and now in Ghana), one son in Iraq (help take care of his son) and one son about to enter (Morehouse).
Please forgive me if the 4.00 gas is causing me to cringe. And my to cover the two sons that are still on my medical benefits runs me 400.00 per month. I still pay a co pay of 30.00 per visit 250.00 for emergency room visits and prescriptions with Aetnea can run almost 100.00 per prescription, so I am happy when I find a generic brand.
Since I am one of those public servants that owes in student loans to afford my higher education, yet salary only increases by at the most 4% a year.
With all of that said.
The gas prices need to go down. America needs help.
Please forgive me forum if I have made anymore mistakes, while typing in a haste.
Have a Blessed Day! | |

Hang on everyone.....our troops are coming home.
Ahhh.. Not quite. See the Update of Obama's positioning now...as of today... re' on another thread just posted.
All news stations are carrying it. It's being termed 'a major change' in Obama's stand. Obama will wait until he visits Iraq to make any determination as to the return of troops. Obama said he may have to revisit his plan to withdraw troops. Even Obama strong supporters are having trouble with this new announcement from Obama today.
It's on MSNBC right now.
|
| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 3:15:50 PM | | Obama said he would be open to discussing the troop level remaining in Iraq, but that the majority will withdraw according to a 16-month schedule. Its the media whipping up some BS about a major change in policy. And certain bloggers.............. | |

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 3:42:40 PM | Sorry .... but, they are playing the speech right now on MSNBC.. which most here have said leans to the Left as FOX leans to the Right.
Only one Commentator... Maddow.. is saying what 'Obama meant'. Then, they replayed the tape again and Obama clearly says He will listen to the Commanders on missions..but,... He (Obama) will make sure that all the troops are out within 16 months.
Today Obama said he will have to rethink that position.
It has a lot of people upset it appears....as the News is reporting they are being swamped with bloggers chastising Obama who once praised Obama. They feel Obama has gone too far now and is showing he is a true Politician...not someone who wants 'Change'...but, rather will pander (their words) to Middle America to get the Votes.
Thank God Obama, the Politician, no different from the majority, is coming to view now instead of after the election.
Remember... McCain already went through the chastising of his own Party for being a Maverick..and even right up to last year when he planned and pushed for his surge plan for Iraq. McCain angered a lot of Right and of course most of the Left. The American People got him the GOP nomination. Most of America knows McCain's previous record and that his plan (the surge) has saved many many many lives.

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 3:51:21 PM | Thanks Padwan,
Just watched both video's for myself on MSNBC and his stance has not changed. We will not be able to just remove the troops from Iraq. That is not feasible. It use to anger me when I would here that about instant removal. I know that was a political ploy for votes. It will have to be done strategically, but I would prefer someone with the gift of gab as opposed to the gift of stab.
Have a Blessed day! | |

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 3:52:53 PM | You know that's just so odd.......I saw the same speech several times on CNN and MSNBC. Clearly heard Obama say the same thing over and over......isn't that strange? It was kinda funny because Obama even chuckled when they kept asking the same thing over and over and the reporters just couldn't seem to get it. At one point he paused after being asked the same question again and looked at the reporter for a bit and then said....'as I said just a bit ago....' Gosh I sure hope someone else heard it!!! Obama was so clear that they couldn't even spin the story after the speech. It will be interesting to see how 'spin proof' we end up being but.....honestly, I don't think it's going to matter as long as Democrats say the same thing they just said over and over... | Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 4:02:37 PM | I'd have more respect for McCain's position in Iraq if he admitted that it was a mistake to go there. Also if he would take off the rose-colored glasses whenever he makes reports on how great things are in Iraq. Of course, if things are so good, why does he insist on staying there for quite some time? Nobody talks about the blatant corruption in the Iraqi government. The rest of the equation lies in the hands of the Iraqis themselves.
It's a matter of keen perception: I think Obama has it, and McCain makes me wonder.

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 9:02:29 PM | So apparently the Republicans are really nervous....there has been yet another shakeup in camp McCain....
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. John McCain's campaign announced a shakeup at the top Wednesday, in the wake of growing Republican concern about its ability to compete against Sen. Barack Obama.

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 9:52:27 PM | Yes, Brandi they are getting scared. Today on CNN, the show Anderson 360 had a guest host and she stated that McCain has added a new member to his campaign staff. They made a joke that they guess the man was trying to have a good first day on the job. | |
|
| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 9:52:30 PM | First, here is a link to the Real Story on Obama's flip flop on Iraq...with a reference to his own web site as to what he stated in the Primary. It is clear and precise that Obama said one thing during the Primary to get the DNC nod and now is doing the opposite just in case he is elected, he will have the ground work to keep our Troops in Iraq indefinitely.
The link below is causing massive waves across the bloggers in cyberland who are now very concerned about Obama and are very close to switching their support of him.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080704/ap_on_el_pr/obama_iraq
Now, as to the 'shake up' in the McCain camp. Yes, there was. A needed one. McCain's Day to Day Campaign is now led by someone else while his long term Campaign is led by the guy who was the D to D one. Reason..(and, even the News Pundits agree with this)... McCain's camp was not being as hard hitting as Obama's. Obama was trounching McCain using negativity and McCain was being too 'nice'...too 'clean'. That's the Pundits words/views.
|
| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 10:01:48 PM | Nice link...isn't it fun to actually be able to read the words verbatim: "I am going to do a thorough assessment when I'm there," he said. "I'm sure I'll have more information and continue to refine my policy."
He left the impression that his talks with military commanders there could refine his promise to remove U.S. combat troops within 16 months of taking office.
Less than four hours later, after the town hall meeting, Obama appeared before reporters for another statement and round of questions to "try this again."
"Apparently I was not clear enough this morning," he said. He blamed any confusion on the McCain campaign, which he said had "primed the pump with the press" to suggest "we were changing our policy when we haven't."
"I have said throughout this campaign that this war was ill-conceived, that it was a strategic blunder and that it needs to come to an end," he said. "I have also said I would be deliberate and careful about how we get out. That position has not changed. I am not searching for maneuvering room with respect to that position."
He promised to summon the Joint Chiefs of Staff on his first day in office "and I will give them a new mission and that is to end this war, responsibly and deliberately, but decisively."
He said that when he talked earlier about refining his policy after talking with commanders in Iraq, he was referring not to his 16-month timeline, but to how many troops may need to remain in Iraq to train the local army and police and what troop presence might be needed "`to be sure al-Qaida doesn't re-establish a foothold there."
"I will bring our troops out at a pace of one two brigades a month" which would mean the United States would be totally out of Iraq in 16 months. "That is what I intend to do as president of the United States."
But later in the session, he said it is possible the 16-month timeline could slip if the pace of withdrawal needs to be slowed some months to ensure troop safety. "I have always said ... I would always reserve the right to do what's best," Obama said.
Isn't it much more fun to have the words right in front of everyone to read.....16 months.....2 brigades a month........"He was referring NOT TO his 16-month timeline, but to how many troops....etc....etc. You know....I swear I said this earlier today cuz that's what I heard Obama say when he gave the press conference. Thanks for the link.....which clearly indicates that Obama is staying consistent with what he's always said and that the McCain camp sought to spin this.......etc. etc. Does this make four times this has been said today or five.......I've lost count.
|
| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 10:13:28 PM | Clear cut. Obama said, as in the post stated and in the link, that he would have the Troops out in 16 months. Now, here's the key...he also said...
"I have always said ... I would always reserve the right to do what's best," Obama said.
And, the above is what some are trying to say gets him out of the flip flop. Now, where, 'Citation' please did Obama say those exact words prior to today? In conjunction with and relevant to his absolute stand on removing the troops...remember... starting on Day 1 and ALL of them out within 16 months.
See...thing is Obama was very very clear on that.
Only now does he claim to have said he reserves the right...to ... whatever. That can be applicable to...'whatever'. But, he has been clear/concise and dogmatic on the 16 months. Why not just stick to it?
Obama said the McCain camp would use the 'race card' ,,,, the 'funny name'...the 'inexperience'... when his (Obama) camp did it for real. Now, he says the McCain camp spun this. When does it stop with Obama? When?
Heck, even the Liberal leaning Press/Media are saying McCain better start playing the same game Obama is and go on the attack. McCain has tried to avoid it. Will he have any alternative if Obama and Camp keep up their tirade. I think McCain will have to get more offensive.

Some of you need to stop. These forums are based on our opinions. If a person does not agree with you, that does not mean you need to overkill the issue. Most people know who they are going to vote for and these are opinion based forums.
The political analyst can not even agree.
I have always stated, I do not care who you vote for just vote and we have the right to disagree.

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/3/2008 11:57:02 PM | Padawan™: Thanks for the yahoo link. It clearly states he'd have all combat troops out within 16 months, but there would still be troops there to protect the embassy and diplomats, and if al-Qaida attempts to build a base there.
Obama's Web site contains this direct promise about Iraq: "Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq. He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al-Qaida attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al-Qaida." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080704/ap_on_el_pr/obama_iraq
I did notice on several other websites they used the words "re-establish bases" in reference to al-Qaida.....
Great to see that whole "al-Qaida...Iraq....9/11" link is still being lied about.

I had this really great response typed out to you and nightwing with references, etc...my computer locked up and I lost it,,,therefore, I"m not retyping all that crap,,however, I will try and touch on what you and I as well as nightwing were touching on.
Referencing offshore drilling. My apologies, but I was viewing offshore drilling same as foreign drilling, I now understand my logic of that particular word was wrong. I now understand you were referencing "domestic drilling" meaning offshore drilling.
I will correct what I said with my newfound understanding. McCain does support offshore drilling domestically. I do as well. McCain also supports conservation of particular area's within our states. It seems to me that McCain is willing to compromise while still drilling domestically. Here is what I took off his myspace page referencing this topic.

Remarks By John McCain On Energy Security
June 17, 2008
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=161336303
Within this reference, John McCain does NOT support our nation being slaves to other countries for energy security. I agree with his stance 100%. What is Obama's solution to energy security? Let's just ignore the problem. I gotta side with McCain on this issue.
Nightwing:
Thank you for the reference, however, wasn't there a HUGE resource found within the Gulf of Mexico back in 2006? Our nation has billions of barrells of oil in reserve. I would not call this minimum. Your source is a great source, however, there are many other sources that debunk it, if you are interested in these sources, I can post them for you. I did have a great source referencing the 2006 discovery, but I lost it and I do not feel like researching to find it again, however, I will if you request it.
I actually have to disagree with you referencing the Iraqi Healthcare system. As of 2003 Iraq had 240 hospitals operating with 1200 primary health clinics. Doctor's salaries have increased 180 dollars a month from 20 dollars a month before the war began.
The ministry has 1000,000 health care professionals with 80% of them women.
In 2004 the budget for healthcare was 950 million as compared to 16 million in under Saddam Hussein in 2002.
In under the Baathist regime, healthcare for some ethnic groups were non existent. Now, they are working to ensure healthcare for all ethnic backgrounds as well as religious affiliations.
More than 30 million doses of vaccines have been administered to children. The ministry has received grants to immunize the 4.2 million children in under the age of five.
Routine vaccination's are now available for newborns, children and mothers. They have designated the 22nd of each month as immunization day.
Since may 24 04 the ministry of health has delivered more than 25,000 tons of pharmaceuticals and health supplies to Iraqi hospitals nationwide.
The ministry is responsible for 29,000 beds.
Since the liberation of Iraq, this country has not faced a major public health crisis.
Three Facility Protective Services classes have trained over 1,300 personnel to protect health facilities.
The ministry of health has completed a 1.7 million headquarters refurbishment project.
In addition to the United States, Japan, Egypt, Korea, Turkey, Spain, Saudi Arabia and India are providing assistance to the ministry of health. This includes training for doctors and nurses construction of hospitals and donation of ambulances.
http://merln.ndu.edu/MERLN/PFIraq/archive/wh/20031215.pdf
I have to disagree with your statement. THis shows that the Iraqi healthcare was NOT one of the highest ranked in the world for how could this be so with dr's only getting paid equivalent to 20 dollars a month as well as particular ethnic backgrounds being denied healthcare? This shows that the Iraqi healthcare system has improved with assistance from the US and allies.
This is off the topic I replied to, however, I must state this about McCain for I'm fair and I do enjoy political humor, even if it's aimed at the very person I will be voting for. McCain once stated that Iraq was more safe than ever and to prove his point, he did indeed travel to Iraq. This is where the funny part comes in, even we with the government were laughing our asses off. McCain was photographed wearing a flak vest (bullet proof vest) and was being escorted by numerous agents, I'm sorry,,but this was funny. He definitely had egg on his face, if Iraq was so safe at that particular point and time, he would not have been wearing a flak vest, which kinda debunked what he said. Those particular words and actions by McCain created a week worth of jokes for us during lunch time. :)

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/4/2008 5:32:39 AM | We can argue about what Obama meant all day...it doesn't matter.
He's going to change his mind or make it so confusing (as you have just witnessed) that we have no idea what he means. And when he 'flips', he meant something else and McCain is the reason for all the confusion. Actually, in my humble opinion, he is his own worst enemy.
So, why fight amongst ourselves about what he meant? Next week will be the 'flop'.
So he's taking 'some' men out. Big deal. Where will he put them? How many is he talking about? Will they actually come home?
He changes his mind to match what he thinks will get him elected. If that doesn't work, he will denounce someone, and put on that flag pin. He will flip things around and as he's blaming McCain, he will remind us of how Mr. McCain's past record of leadership is no reason a leader (AND a hero) should be leading the country..........get the picture?

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/4/2008 6:42:30 AM | | What Obama meant is what he said. He stayed consistent. The SPIN was that he didn't. It's as clear as the words on the screen.......two brigades.....16 months. He didn't change his mind.....someone lied about that or is incapable of reading. Ergo the second press conference yesterday where he said the same thing.......the same thing over and over. I don't get what's confusing about that. | |

| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/4/2008 6:50:00 AM | stefano:
I have just found your statement to me in reference to McCain's advocation for welfare recipients as well as our poverty stricken communities.
By the way:
# Support housing assistance for welfare recipients # Provide homeless families with apartment vouchers they can use to supplement the cost of an apartment # Continue to give states and local governments responsibility for welfare programs through block grants # Maintain current welfare-to-work requirements in order for states to qualify for block grants # Require that unwed teenage mothers live with a parent or guardian (if possible) and attend school to receive benefits # Restore food stamp programs to legal immigrants # Transfer homeless housing programs to states through block grants # Provide continued Medicaid benefits for those welfare recipients who have moved from welfare to work # Provide federal assistance to low-income job applicants for transportation to jobs at some distance.
I am not sure about the legal immigrant thing, but I do believe that all of these are currently in force under TANF or being done with state funds with, I believe, the one exception being harassing teenaged mothers .........so, essentially, McCain's "program" is to leave the current status unchanged, which means:
He HAS NO PROGRAM.
Incidentally, converting IV-A to TANF in the Clinton administration happened on his watch, but it was really Jack Kemp and Bob Dole who forced the issues at the time and kept Clinton to his promise to "change welfare as we know it". A nice example of democracy in action.
And Nona, really, where on earth do you see "socialism" in any of Obama's programs? Do you brake for unicorns, too?
So what you are stating is that the only way to make something work is to just eliminate it with new ideas? If something is not broke, then why spend millions if not billions to eliminate it while instituting something else? That does not make sense to me. You are showing all what the current welfare standards are as of current without showing the side of what McCain is advocating with the additions. It's obvious McCain has ideas one has to want to read them first as compared to ignoring them for their own propaganda campaigns. By the way..the Clinton Welfare to Work program obviously didn't work, it was eliminated in 2004, obviously it wasn't that good or else our nation would still be utilizing. The only great example it showed is how democrats like to institute programs without proper planning.
McCain is being realistic where Obama does have SOME good idea's, but for the most part, he has no plan at all, it's all "hype" with no true way to institute any of it. I side with McCain on this issue.
Speaking of braking for unicorns, I feel this is better as compared to a presidential candidate such as Obama who is so middle of the road that he more than likely straddles the median while driving down a highway and don't forget that he is so liberal he would not take his own side during an argument.
Obama screams socialism. This is one major reason he will not see the whitehouse. But at least one person will be proud of him... his wife. We can't even say his grandmother would be proud of him for he already threw her in under the bus. lol
Obama flip flops so much on each and every topic, I'm sure he and his wife have constant arguments...."I love you"! "No, I don't"! "I love you"! "No I don't"!
|
| Let the real show begin (Obama VS McCain) What are your thoughts Posted: 7/4/2008 7:17:01 AM | Nona37, I'm sorry but I dont see any "socialism" in Obama's platform.
The only references I have seen that are concrete that impact redistribution of wealth are his ending the Bush tax breaks on the very wealthy, which I have heard many comments from economists say is necessary.
Wealth for a very few has grown enormously under Bush and even before, while the middle class has seriously lost ground. That's a simple fact, the numbers are there, and it is due in part to tax breaks.
Reversing that trend seems to me just plain common sense.
And as far as McCain's support of the current TANF, you presented your post as if they were new ideas and there werent any, you described most of what is already in place ........and by the way, the new welfare was a major bipartisan acheivement, which shows what this country can do when people across the aisles get off their ass and actually do some legislating.... so I felt obliged to point that out.
