| Fake language - Babe, hun, luv, dear, hot, fit, sexy and so on... Posted: 7/4/2008 1:00:04 PM | oh nooooooooooooooo
i say darl all the time and honey and babes...
i am from the north living in the south ... and find most southerners call me hun or hunnie , and my southern friend hates it when i call him darl...
it just comes out my mouth
i wont be stopping , regardless of this new informaton on how you all hate it..
sorry my darlings.. its meant as a term of endearment , not as an insult or an over familiarity
i think your all mean | |

| Fake language - Babe, hun, luv, dear, hot, fit, sexy and so on... Posted: 7/4/2008 1:40:46 PM | I suppose it’s ok...
(long sigh) Who am I kidding? It's too generic in my opinion. And like you say “afx777”, it lacks imagination. Saying “luv you” or "I love you” ...tends to lose its meaning when said on a constant bases too - so I used to reply “Yep, ok” with the equally cheap "love you too" (voice raised at the end like a question). Does demean love and also shows insecurity to whoever is repeating it all the time. Re. babes, darling, baby and the like, I'm sure "angelsprinkles", you're a lovely lady. Somethings sometimes just don't need to be said. Am I being a b6stard here?

| Fake language - Babe, hun, luv, dear, hot, fit, sexy and so on... Posted: 7/4/2008 2:00:08 PM | | Found that after living in Stockport i have the tendency to say Cheers Luv etc when being served in a shop ( oi keep it clean ) and now i find in Essex the term most commonly bandied around is "Mate" now that does grate the heckles a bit though... In a relationship terms of endearment are going to be common but as mentioned overuse can become complacency and lose their meaning .. | |

| Fake language - Babe, hun, luv, dear, hot, fit, sexy and so on... Posted: 7/4/2008 4:24:34 PM | Whether a pet name as the OP describes, is intended as "friendly" or "flattering" in the first message , the ASSUMPTION that pet names is ok with me, is wrong, they have not bothered to/incapable of comprehending my profile - I do not like pets names given to me by strangers, never have done, to me it smacks of insincere usually sexist BS.
when i tell em I don't like pet names ... "well, I'm only being friendly, lighten up" .... To those who think I need to lighten up - yet another assumption that somehow I am wound up -now your telling me how to feel < and that is patronising< and so's this, - Great! a man to run my head for me- perhaps I could shove me brain down his pants- then we could have a natter.
On forums i think expressions like hun are actually helpful and help to give a sense of how the messenger intended their post to be taken, flirty/friendly/sarcastic -

Posted: 7/6/2008 4:39:59 PM | | Hi, frisps, I read my post and agree it could be construed as nasty. - Am very sorry, I wasn't critising your post but agree that it is way to ambiguous - was playing with cheese words as reaction to "bloody cheesy"- my bad english- sorry, can delete if you would like.
