| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 1/15/2006 10:08:33 AM | Wow!! Something interesting, now!!!! My interpretation of astrology is you have an astrological sign but your learned behaviour dictates that you become.
I'm a Sag, ascendant still unknown, it's somewhere between Libra and Capricorn had 7 different interpretations!!! Venus in Sag and moon in Aquarius. I have 5 vacant houses in my house wheel, and they are the ones I live for, go figure!!!! ...What luck!!!
Now with that being said, I have personality traits of a Sag, but not on others. After being hurt and betrayed, I am a lot more cautions about my surroundings. But in the love department, it is said that Sag are most likely to be Bachelor..... Well, not in my case!!!! Even had a compatibility report done, and I'm one of the few that can "handle" a Scorpio’s personality and temper.... go figure, other places it says that we practically shouldn't be in the same room at the same time!!!!
Looks like I'm going against all Sag principles, or am I just trying to change the faith!!!!

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 1/15/2006 2:38:21 PM | Taurus, you crack me up! I seriously doubt you would take my advice seriously. Ummmm.... aquarius....... moon sign/sun sign of the day/ sign of repair dude. I could look at your chart, with transits for the Jan 10-14 period, but somehow I think my efforts would be wasted. The full moon falls on the 13th, so the whole trip should be fairly energetic/upbeat.

Well dude, here's what happened. My repair dude happens to be an Aquarius,he wasn't able to repair the problem, but he did point out what was wrong. My assignment in Cuba was cancelled ,the week was busy, but actually somewhat mellow paced for TV news.A double murder, teen vandalism case,a new city ordinance, and an online ripoff.

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 6/27/2006 1:01:32 AM | Nope. Astrology is based on the movement and alignment of planets...but they are finding new "planets" all the time, even in our own solar system! Sheeeesh | |

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 6/30/2006 9:12:37 PM | Hey, all:
Well, it appears most here have completely ignored the topic to indulge in actual astrological nonsense, which in fact is what astrology is.
To answer the question is to assume astrology is a belief system and not a science of some sort. Of course, if it was a science, the question would not even be asked. For example, would we ask do you believe in biology or chemistry? Yet, although so many think astrology is a science, we still hear this question.
In fact, it is 4000-year-old mythology based on ignorance and superstition. And now the only defense I hear is that, well, the Sun and Moon cause the tides. Okay, but what about the planets and the constellations and stars of the ecliptic? The people who devised this artificial human psychology depended heavily on things they had no understanding of, which should be a first clue: the word "planet" comes from Greek meaning "wanderer"; they thought the stars and planets were just out of reach: building towers were supposed to allow them to touch the stars; they thought there were shapes in the constellations, but which was dependent totally on location, orientation, and culture; they thought the stars were close enough to effect human characteristics, but we now know other stars are closer, for example the stars of Ursa Major, in which we find the asterism the Big Dipper.
We also know there is no measurable Earth-bound gravitational attraction from any of the planets or stars, the constellations are arbitrary shapes that change in time and with position, a blind monkey throwing darts has a better chance of picking human characteristics, and scientific progress and the passage of 4000 years has completely changed things. As one simple example. who can name the 13th so-called astrological sign? I'll help: get a decent, up-to-date star map that has the constellation boundaries, and look on it where the ecliptic is (that is basically the plane of the solar system and the line on which the planets and Sun move--called "ecliptic" because that is where eclipses occur and the Sun hides the stars. Trace it around and LO and BEHOLD! you will find something the ancient Greeks musta missed! Well, they had an excuse--the boundaries change, because humans made them, the ecliptic changes because of precession, and it is made up nonsense. (That last one isn't an excuse--not for them or us.)
So, no, I don't "believe" in astrology. We would be better off reading the lint in our navels--it makes as much sense, and at least there is some gravity involved in such pursuit. I guess I don't understand how some people can go out in public and not get tricked into getting into a van.
Sorry.
David

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 7/1/2006 4:20:48 PM | I guess you obviously missed the point. However you did put "believe" in quotes and thaT WAS THE POINT. So perhaps this thread should be about,
"What do you believe in, that is logic tells you is silly?"
C'mon atheistists and independent thinkers... unite! Let's march!
I have to set up my Bingo Trolls in a truncated version of Stonehenge and refill my dauber. And oh yeah, all you water signs out there.....Thursday at 8pm is the new Friday at 11pm.

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 7/1/2006 7:16:19 PM | | Virgo dog here, yes I understand astrology, (don't like the word believe), wish I had a lifetime to devote to the study, maybe next one I'll plan to do that. So I hire someone who has spent a lifetime studying it to help me understand what's up with some stuff. Best $ I've ever spent. You just have to find a good one, who can explain it. Think about this. If the position of our sun, and the energy of our sun is responsible for all life on this planet, why wouldn't the position of the stars and planets also have an impact on us? People for centuries have known this. I think it scares people because they are afraid to be found out for their true motives and behaviours. It's a great asset to have an understanding of what you came in with, and what influences are likkley to effect you. Great to those of you who don't want to use it! Your choice, but stop dissing stuff you know nothing about. | |

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 7/1/2006 7:18:07 PM | | BTW, WTF is up with the stars this last month? Everyone I know is sick, hospitalized, in accidents,and/or dead or dying! unbelievable! Whatever is going down, I hope it's over soon! | |

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 9/30/2006 12:38:51 PM | Dude, quit this shit...
My old man was into all that astrology shit and spent a good part of his life researching and doing pointless shit.
Life's too precious to play by the book.
hop out there, live and learn. Everyone's different. Astrology is like a big assumptions, whereas assumptions are 50% true and sometimes totally bogus.
Stop it. | |

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 11/11/2006 1:32:19 PM | Astrology is complete garbage, something for people who have never created a personality of their own, to copy one.
Most is written in such a way that of course it is true! Met one lady who followed it, said I must like being by water because of my sign. LOL, and who doesn`t enjoy being by water!
I will go beyond saying its garbage, it can be dangerous. People picking mates, jobs, altering decisions based on it! Also amazing to me is that people can believe the stars have power over us, but think my belief that a God exists is too far fetched.
You could read every signs forecast, and if you believe will think it was written for you. Deceptive, unproven and I get ticked when people change themselves to fit what they think they should be, such a waste. Thank you

| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 11/13/2006 8:37:57 AM | dunrich, you`re talking like an ignorant child, it`s obvious you have never taken time out to study astrology. i dont wish to say anymore to you, it`s all been said in one foul swoop. my message now is to anyone out there who wishes to enhance their life with more wisdom. if you want to view the past, then dig into the ground, if you wish to see the present, then just look around you, to see the future, look up to the skies. (as above, so below)
you CAN predict the future accurately from a horoscope, just learn the art, however long it may take you.
|
| Do you believe in Astrology? Posted: 11/13/2006 8:48:43 AM | dunrich, i know i said that i had said enough to you, but that was before i noticed on your profile that you are a christian, are you trying to say that you can accept all that totally useless unfounded claptrap you read in the book you christians call your bible, and, without any shred of proof accept what you read, and in turn debunk astrology, a science you have never tried to understand, because your contradictory book says that predicting the future is witchcraft, "never suffer a witch to live", etc., yet the 3 wise men were astrologers, they followed the star. how about this for a truth, the christian book you call the bible carries absulutely no truth, and those who read it and adhere to what they read will end their days no wiser than the day they were born! | |

There is proof that I believe the Bible, true, obviously there is proof for you that astrology is true, but I have never seen any yet.
Not one time did I bring up the Bible. Obviously, if someone does not believe the Bible, I will not waste my time, or respectfully, theirs, by quoting it.
However to base decisions in life by the position of the planets, is so wrong. Not Bibically, but wrong as in silly. Furthermore, it will not work if you know the future.
Lets say astrology has merit, or psychics for that matter. Your destiny will be changed, if you know what your future is. Lets say the position of the stars, says you will meet someone at a social event, Then you will actively seek out social events, and might miss out at an impromptude, spontaneous event because you were out searching at a social event.
What astrological system are you following? 13 signs as in some eastern ones or 12 like what is predominate in western astrology?
I know people who have separated, divorced, gotten involved with affairs, and even made their decision to marry based on astrology. A lot of these poor souls, are messed up seeking answers, and become easy victims for the many frauds out there claiming they have the astrological and or psychic ability to advise them. Even astrologers and some psychics know there are many frauds!
Just, like I admit quite freely, there are many frauds claiming gifts from Jesus who claim they know the answers to poor misguided people.
Too many people are dormant in their search in this life, waiting for things to come true, win the lottery or something. They think they can wait, not actively control their life by striving for what they want, sadly, too many wait for stars to magicly ( some think God) supply them with the wherewithal to get what they want.
This thread is a personal opinion about astrology, I have a close freind who follows it quite avidly, they too think I am a fool to believe the Bible, and I have yet to see any proof that astrology has assisted her.
Although, many times, I have had her call and say, "Richard, this is him, my soulmate! " . lol. Perhaps 5 times? Not sure, so forgive me if I am sceptical over the power stars exerted on me, 52 years ago. The future is an unkown quantity, I have yet to see someone be able to predict it based on stars.
Beware of anyone, claiming any power, to know the future!
