| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/8/2008 5:28:14 PM | I thought only chicks with low self esteem look down. I always look everbody in the eye.
I also live in the country so anything with tread is hard to get sh1t out of. I just keep a toothbrush by the hose. I thought shoes were something you had to where to get into places because the sign says so...

You want nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, to do with this woman. If she's only going to come talk to you after you get a new pair of shoes, when she previously wouldn't even acknowledge your presence, she's immediately shown how shallow and materialistic (not to mention air-headed; I mean, c'mon, clothes? This isn't that piece of garbage "Sex and the City" movie...) she likely is. Move on. There are other women who are more worth your time.
Please explain how in a public situation where a person looks at you from across the room she can have anything other to go on other then something superficial? In public if you want to strike up a conversation and you go with something that is harmless like shoes - what is the issue with that? how does this mark her as materialistic and shallow? So based off of a glance across the room should she come up and compliment your emotional attachment and sense of self worth? should she deem your intelligence and compliment that?
What you just said is that if we approach men youll complain on what we choose to say an an opening line AND if we dont we are standoffish and rude
It was nothing more then a good way to strike up conversation get over the women hating

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/8/2008 6:09:02 PM | Personally I think the shoes were an icebreaker....
but I look at shoes sometimes if they are totally worn out and the guy doesn't see fit to replace them.. I don't care so much about brands, I don't recognise half of them to begin with, but it's more of if he knows how to dress.. for instance no tennis shoes with dress pants sort of thing... and if the guy seems to wear snake skin cowboy boots I'm not sure how much I'd like that either... I am not much of a cowgirl... not to mention the ten gallon hat...

This is interesting because I have 3 pairs of shoes for walking around in. 2 pairs are work shoes, both beaten up, pot marked, slightly burned, and generally look past due. The other pair is a cheap set of runners covered in mud from unpaved biking. My shoes are all utility and I could ask a homeless person for advise on a set of good, cheap, durable walkers.
I'm getting the impression that the moral of the topic is that some women like trendy, clean shoes on their eye candy and the rest of the women out there don't care about shoes one way or another

I know a guy that has nice shoes and a nice watch....easy to buy those things as he lives in his mother's basement...
No signal is 100% effective, that's why they call it a "signal".
Really, any guy who's sporting a rolex is going to catch a girl's attention. You can lie about it all you want but it's true.

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/9/2008 5:29:35 AM | I confess.. I have done the shoe chat... I look at shoes on men, they should reflect what they are wearing. If you work in construction a great pair of well worn work boots ( I was a surveyor, I have steel toed work boots)... a suit you must have a clean polished dress shoe on. If they are really nice ... I would talk to you or use it as an ice breaker... A shameless girl ploy to talk to a man... I am hanging my head in shame... Oh look Nice Shoes!

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/9/2008 7:58:09 AM | Hey bud... A lot of people you can judge their Character and personality from their shoes… Most people buy or own shoes that represent themselves and what their like in life.
If you really do the math step back and look at all your friends and family 9/10 times you will see this to be true. It is a fun fact of the day…
Also their was a criminal study done. A lot of pick-pockets pick there victims based on shoes. Not because they want the shoes but they guess what is in the people’s pockets or purse.
(PS. not saying this is right or I agree with this type of judging but just the way the world works sometimes)

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/9/2008 9:10:10 AM | | Well I am safe today from pick pockets in my $1.00 flip flops. Guys dont where them if you have yellow toe nails! Other then that I dont give a sh1t. | |

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/9/2008 1:28:01 PM | | Sigh... if they are work shoes and worn like it fine... geesh... when I work in my garden I am not wearing dress shoes either... and they end up with mud and end up in the mud room... but I'm not gonna wear my garden shoes to a date.... get a grip... hopefully those guys can differentiate dress shoes from work shoes.. and by all means wear your nice watch while you're at it... lol... and a nice shirt and pant or walking short depending on the weather... and a nice cologne .... glasses too... nice smile .... deep manly voice... the shoes are just the start... If your Clint Eastwood maybe the spurs... | |

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/9/2008 3:57:23 PM | Shoes say a lot about someone's personality. It's about style. Old or new shoes doesn't matter. I look for someone who has a similiar style to mine (not in shoes but in general). I feel more comfortable around people who are similar to me and without knowing someone, on first sight, all you have to go on is their style.
For example, if I run into a guy wearing patent leather shoes with a big heel and a silver buckle, there is no way I would make an effort to talk to him. I couldn't be with someone who has wack style like that.
Maybe that makes me shallow....

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/11/2008 10:39:38 AM | shoes are sexy! i was never really into them, but now, oh man, if i have the money, i'd be an imelda marcos and buy a gazillion shoes!
as for guys, i do notice when guys have nice shoes. it's like bonus points for them. as per approaching them, i'm the opposite. a guy with a pair of extra nice shoes comes off as stuck-up to me...so i'm too scared to even strike a casual conversation. even if i wasn't even interested, i'm so hesitant starting up a conversation with a well-dressed guy. again, it just gives me the vibes...and more often than not, it's really just my own insecurities

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/11/2008 11:06:39 AM | | I love MY shoes. I don't care what shoes a guy is wearing, as long as he ISN'T wearing black shoes with white socks. *Cringe* | |

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/11/2008 11:12:51 AM | Shoes were important to my DAD, he swore they were a dead give-away to the character of a person and how important details were to them, male or female. Not talking about how necessarily new or fashionable they are, but whether someone took care of them or not. He believed someone who was shoddy or sloppy with their footwear was going to be shoddy and sloppy with other areas in their life.
So, I confess, I sneak a peak to see if their shoes are clean and tidy; I think dad may have been onto something with this one.

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/11/2008 4:03:44 PM | I think it is amusing that some of the men who answered this question, jumped to the conclusion that she was materialistic. Maybe she has just been waiting for something to comment on, to get a chance to say hello to you. Or maybe the bright red on your shoes made you stand out a little more that particular day.
Maybe it was the SIZE of your shoe--you know what they say about men with big shoes......
They have big feet Yes, and big feet? Clown.
I am happy to lend my fashionable shoe expertise to Plastic Sturgeon. It's totally dependent on the size and shape of your foot, which ones you should choose.
Although if you are male or female... Just say not to Crocs.

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/11/2008 6:57:23 PM | I just got back from town. IT is really sad how many people are wearing those croks. I know they are practical, but talk about making so many people that already dress in a sloppy manner, look even sloppier! To each his own, but I guess I am entitled to my opinion too! | |

YEAH!...ok ok...I gotta get in on this. Those shoes...those shoes are a piece of crap. Wear em at the beach while you're walking on rocks...but nowhere else.
As bad as thongs...well Americans call em flip flops I think. But they're Australian...and they're the nastiest piece of rubbish and look like crap too.
Cost like $5 in the throw-a-way bin in shoe stores and all the outter suburbian people with no cash and no taste wear them as if they're a fricken fashion statement.
Whoever is perpetuating these myths...stop it!

| Women and Guys Shoes Posted: 6/11/2008 7:13:29 PM | It is not so much the quality of the shoes as in how much they cost but the condition they are kept in. Did you know a lot of employers look at the shoes of prospective employees to see their condition? The condition of ones shoes says a lot about them and what kind of person they are.
I myself, look at shoes first. I like clean shoes. Not how much a date spends on shoes but that he actually takes care of his shoes. Then I know he takes care of other things as well.

Well he better be close enough so I can see the word Rolex with my bi-focals, because I couldn't tell a Rolex from a $6 watch from Wallyworld.
Shoes.....could care less. 99.9% of the men I know wear either sneakers or sh*tkickers (workboots)...with a few rebels like my father, who always wore cowboy boots..had some specially made for work...steeltoed.
I myself only wear shoes because I am required to by health laws.
