Do you want to have your say on a referendum on Europe?

A lot of myths come about because people are stupid enough to believe what is written in the tabloids....

Indeed. But that doesn't change the fact that the best lies are always based in fact in some way...

As a last point why did you change the word 'sou' to 'soul'? 'Sou' is a word meaning 'of little or no value'!

Didn't realise I had to be honest, I must have done it on AutoPilot
Sou relates to "little or no value" in the monetary sense though, so doesn't really fit very well in that context...

That would be a deff " NO "...
to put it simple...

Born English
Live English
And Die English

Not as a dam European being dictated to by countries who seem to want to pound us into submision.

Remember.. Waterloo, WWI/WWII, The Spanish Armada, ect ect...We fought these people, and now it seems they want to defeat us by going through the back door under a flag with the words Lisburn Treaty wrote accross it..

We are an island nation surrounded by water and we should stay independent, we should remember our history, out heritage and our ancesters and we should all stand on the white cliffs of Dover with our heads up high and shout the immortal words of Churchill.. " WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER "

Weird thing about being English, we are a B4stard race.
The British Isles have been successfully invaded by the Norwegians, the Germans, The French, the Danish, the Italians etc.
Whether we like it or not, we are europeans.

I don't want a say on the Lisbon Treaty. I would just like to be asked whether I want England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to be members of the EU.

My parents agreed to the common market as a way to stabilise inter EU trade and open access for us to the continental marketplace.. They did not agree to devolution of power to a faceless autocracy that is answerable to no-one.

Just found this article ...................

"EUROPE lay in tatters last night, ravaged by the strongest leprechaun curse in over a decade.
Little people across the Emerald Isle drank whiskey, smoked pipes and danced jig after jig late into the night in celebration of their successful spell.

The savage curse was placed by Finnan O'Flaherty, a grade six leprechaun from County Kerry.

He said: "Oi be tellin' ye now, by the light of a full Spring moon, ye'll not be ratifyin' a treaty that leads to structural reforms of the Council o' Ministers agricultural sub-committee.

"Oi'll be skippin' down Killarney high street with a daisy in me cap before I'd be allowin' such a passage of affairs."

O'Flaherty said he added extra potency to the evil charm by drinking a special brew of cowslip and dandelions, chased down with a half-pint of Bacardi and coke.

But the issue has led to deep divisions within the leprechaun community with many little people claiming the curse could backfire and destroy the country's bottomless pot of shiny European gold.

Ireland's biggest-selling leprechaun newspaper the Killarney Bucket, last night devoted its front page to a strongly-worded attack on the curse, under the headline, 'O'Flaherty, ya great feckin' eejit!'."

I think all English people should be able to have a say on this

And what about Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland people ?

RE: "having a say on a referendum on Europe?" though what exactly does one mean by this. A vote on the Lisbon treaty would be pointless now since Ireland has rejected it and it legally cannot happen unless all 27 countries agree. As for a vote on EU membership the British people have already had one. We could have avote on the single currency though. There are a lot of good arguments both for and against it (along with a lot of silly ones like the one about the Queens head on banknotes).

The quality of debate and level of public knowledge about European issues in the British isles is absolutly woeful. There are a lot of good and bad things to be said about Europe but all our media comes out with is stupid myths about straight bananas.

I watched something yesterday (can't remember what it was) about this subject, and that of the 42 day rule. They were talking about how politicians are in an impossible situation as they have to "guess" what the people want! I was sure that politicians were elected to represent the views and needs of their constituents, and so all they really need to do is ask us!!!! There is no guesswork involved, they just don't bother to do their jobs!

It appears that having your say means absolutely fcuk all nowadays as it looks like they will plough ahead and ratify the treaty regardless of what the majority of people want.
