| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/14/2008 6:41:16 PM | Let's switch it around:
'Do guys wear skimpy clothes in the summer time to keep cool or to show off what they got? A combination of both maybe?
So what is the verdict?'
(I ain't wearin' no parka in August that's for sure.)

or to show off what they got?
A combination of both I think. Or at least, that's what I do...
reading beef's posts today....will somebody please have sex with him.
I'll even donate a box.
What do you mean....? A box...?
(I live in Florida and it's been really hot down here)
Oh I wish I did, even though the south coast UK is good, is no where near as hot as Florida.... I wish...
I am not a woman but I dress to keep cool and what looks good on me.
Even though the pic posted 14 June 08 looks like a lady's shift dress..... ? OK....
After all that, I dress how I feel comfortable in hot weather - if somebody else appreciates that, then yippeeeeee, if they dont, no matter, I'm comfortable. And I'm old enough and ugly enough to not be bothered....!!!

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/14/2008 6:49:58 PM | Ya know, it's funny for me. I used to look at women wearing skimpy clothes and really think they were a bit trampy... now keep in mind that I have been a bit overweight and unhappy with my body for many years... so truly I am and always have been seriously jealous of women who can get away with clothes like that. (Another words I admit my reason for thinking that way was jealousy so please don't hurt me!! LOL)
I swore for years "I don't care if I did look like that, I would never wear that!"
Now, I have lost quite a bit of weight, am in the gym at least 4 days a week, body is getting much more toned and I am starting to feel very sexy ... so guess what? I am wearing more revealing clothes LOLOL...
I finally understand why women do it who can. To me it makes me feel sexier, gives me more confidence and hey I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am so yeah I also do it for attention.
I say if you got it flaunt it, if it drives the men crazy all the better LOL. Just don't cop an attitude when you get the attention.

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/14/2008 7:31:19 PM | Its all a big conspiracy, yes! And in their spare time, in between clandestine meetings in smoke filled rooms, the women build flying saucers, and plan abductions of men, to perform anal probes on them and return them with vague memories of what happened...
Geez.... one more conspiracy theory to add to the pile.

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/15/2008 1:04:51 AM | I think that most women dress far to immodestly, especially in the summer. But for a lot of them, it's an intentional act to "drive men crazy" simply something our appearance-driven society has said is not only "OK" but is required. There are ways to dress for the weather and still be modest. Just my two cents. | |

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/15/2008 2:46:48 AM | | I've never really been one to wear truly skimpy clothing. If it's hot, you'll rarely find me in jeans, usually a short skirt or shorts. Most of the time (for me anyway), it's about being comfortable. I've never truly been comfortable with some of the attention that I've gotten so I actually try to cover up as much as I can and still be comfortable. So no, not trying to drive you crazy. | |
|
| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/15/2008 6:59:34 AM | | Personally, I wear them (honestly, I didn't know that a breezy short skirt and a tank was "skimpy") because it's fracking hot here and I'll pass out and die if I wear jeans and sweaters. I'd say that's the verdict for a good 98.9999% of us. | |

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/15/2008 9:13:43 AM | | Long, flowing loose cotton clothes are *much* cooler than skimpy clothing. A loose long sleeved shirt, loose cotton trousers or a long skirt and a hat protect your skin from the heat of the sun whilst allowing for plenty of air flow. I don't like skimpy clothing. Very occasionally I will go as far as wearing a shirt with short sleeves or no sleeves, because sometimes I like to feel the sun on my arms, but if I'm going to be anywhere more public than a back garden I'm most likely to cover up again. I wish other people would cover up more in public too. It's pretty unpleasant to have to negotiate past sweaty beer bellies and the like when you're doing your grocery shopping. | |

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/15/2008 9:29:19 AM | Yes. A Combo of both.
Some of us do not do well in the heat (moreso the humidity, which I really can't handle), so if I can stay cooler by wearing less, I do so. Having said that, I still have a job to consider when making wardrobe choices. How men will react isn't really a consideration when it's so hot that I can barely breathe, but if they like the result of me feeling way too warm to cover completely up.... let 'em.
No skin off my nose.
A loose long sleeved shirt, loose cotton trousers or a long skirt and a hat protect your skin from the heat of the sun whilst allowing for plenty of air flow.
Yeah right... protects from the sun, agreed... You described practically my entire wardrobe there (until recently), but I can tell you that these items are NOT helpful in the humidity. In fact, they're stifling.. even tho cotton supposedly breathes.

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/15/2008 11:36:31 AM | I can't speak for other men, but when I say "skimpy", I'm not talking about shorts and a t-shirt. I think that while some women here are being honest in saying they're wearing clothes because they like the way the clothes look, and because the clothes serve a cooling function in hot/humid weather, there are some who might not even be aware of what they're actually doing.
We all have the right to do most whatever we want; but we're ignorant and foolish if we think we can do those things in a vacuum. Just as a man who's a bodybuilder must be keenly aware that wearing a tight shirt is going to show off his upper body development, and thus garner attention from many women, women need to be aware that the same applies for them. Breasts are a sexual area of the body, whether some women like to admit it or not. Yes, they're for giving milk to infants. They're also erogenous zones that a lot of men are attracted to, and if a woman is wearing clothing that calls particular attention to her chest, she either wants the attention, is uninformed enough to think that it won't make a difference, or is socially ignorant enough to not care. The last type is usually the same one who will get upset when men fixate on her chest while talking to her/standing next to her at the light to cross the street/ogling her in the elevator/what-have-you.
Women can't hide their shape, nor should they have to. They bulge up top, their behind is very pleasant to look at (depending on an individual man's taste; there's a man out there for every feminine body type), etc. However, there are miles of difference between wearing clothing that looks nice and serves functions appropriate to the weather and wearing clothes specifically designed to call attention to a woman's body.
When it's hot, a woman can wear shorts and either a simple, light-colored t-shirt or a tank-top that doesn't present plunging cleavage or show ample swelling of her breasts above the neckline, and she's both physically attractive and at least showing a modicum of modesty. She's wearing clothes that look nice, keep her cool in the hot weather, but don't do anything to draw any more attention to her body than what she'd get by mere dint of being shaped the way she is.
On the other end, there's the women who are going to wear shorts that barely cover the swell of their ass, wear tops that shove their breasts up out of the neckline like twin suns over the horizon, or tops that are just so ridiculously tight that you can pick out the smallest features of their areolae. Seeing a woman who wears clothing whose very specific design is to draw attention to their body leaves little doubt as to the woman's purpose for wearing those specific clothes.
The defense of "I wear it because it's hot outside" only goes so far when compared against the actual piece of clothing. To attempt to mitigate it by saying "I wear it because I think it's cute" or some similar statement is fine, but don't be ignorant about it: your thinking it's cute has nothing to do with the fact that the piece of clothing might be drawing more attention to a particular part of your body than you might want. When women wear clothes that specifically draw attention to their bodies, they lose all right to be bothered if men (or women) are paying attention. No one's saying dress in a bhurka (though they're good for hot weather), but we are saying that there are attractive, flattering clothes you can wear for most any kind of weather that don't immediately sexualize your body more than you intend.
And if you are intending to draw attention to your body, at least be honest about it.

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/15/2008 1:16:52 PM | I would say it is both.
I will wear a tank top and shorts out if it is hot out no matter what it gets skimpy.
If I want attention I will wear a super tight tank top with an exaggerated scoop neckline and push up bra, and tight jean shorts or micrshorts to emphasize my non-existent butt. Open toe stillettoes, jewellery, make-up...the works. Then I would put on nice clean lace panties just incase the shorts come off...you get the picture.
If it were strictly for comfort I would not wear the push up bra and tight clothes, I would wear my baggy stuff.
|
| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/15/2008 1:38:55 PM | I wear what i do because I'm comfortable in it AND because it looks good. I don't wear super skimpy clothes. I like to look sexy and classy at the same time. I wear mostly dresses and skirts because they are cool in this Florida heat.
Now, if you wanna ask me why I wear heels I will fully admit it's because they make my legs look very sexy and they accentuate the swing of my hips when I walk. I wear the heels cuz I like looking sexy and the attention that comes along with it.
|
| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/17/2008 8:25:53 PM | Most times I dress for comfort in the heat ....but oftentimes I'll also wear the low cut shirts for the attention - though having the breeze against the 'girls' is really nice when its hot outside....I mainly dress (no matter what season) in what makes me feel good or sexy. If the men like it....all the better.

say little bit of column A and a little bit of column B.
Either case, who cares. I love sun dresses, especially when their taut and you can see that panties outline or the thong string. *passes out*
I wish we were still animals in nature and all you had to do was fight off other men in order to hump the first woman near by. That would be so much easier than going home honry and alone.
Come on girls, that was freaking hilarous. Of course women dress in skimpy clothes to get attention. Why do you think I love summer? Some girls are even funny with it, like the ones who has a little more fat in the belly and they wear those shirts meant for athletic fit or skinny women, and it looks like they have a set of saddle bags above their waist. Don't get me wrong I like the thick girls just as much as the fit ones. What makes it funny is they have an attitude, and it leaves me thinking ok, how much for a bj? To me though they don't have to be in skimpy clothes, I still check them out. It dosen't cost a dime to look, just when you start talking to them.

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/18/2008 9:32:12 AM | Well, number one, I don't have the body to wear extremely skimpy clothing. And it is my opinion that women that do wear skimpy clothing are seeking attention for the most part. There's a difference between looking slutty and looking sophisticated. Just the other day I was riding around town with my mom and we saw a group of girls...like 4 or 5 of them....walking around down town. Well, these lovely ladies probably outweighed me by about 30-40 lbs. They were wearing spandex tube tops and coochie cutter shorts. I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts that hit my legs mid thigh....and I was plenty cool!
I knew a girl once that had maps to Germany in stretch marks across her stomach. For some reason she thought it was cool to wear belly shirts. I asked her one time why she did and she said it was so that men would appreciate her body. My response to her? Men would probably appreciate it more if the map to Berlin was properly covered.
My advice: If they don't make it in your TRUE size, don't buy it. Even if they DO make it in your true size, think twice about it.

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/18/2008 11:17:36 AM | Wgirl...you are very funny! Love the map to Berlin!
Yes if you are dressing to attract guys...make sure you are attractive. LOL
If you feel sexy wearing skimpy clothes, then I guess it doesn't matter if you are actually attractive or not.
Me, hmmm... All of the above? Is that a choice? I have tank and short sets for "exercise" that are designed to breathe and be cool. They are fairly close fitting, nto much material, and I wear them all over in the summer (i.e. stores, house, park) because it's so frickin hot. Of course, they aren't sexy, even if close fitting.
Then there is the very cute halter terry dress I wear when I see my guy sometimes. now *that* I wear to be cool and to look "sexy" (as much as I can accomplish that particular feat, lol). And yes, he looks, and yes, he likes. :)
And then there are the tees and loose ugly shorts I wear sometimes when I don't want to wear a bra nor want my nips to show...
all of the above, yep. K | |

i think you may have answered your own questions it's a combination of everything. But its so obvious that you can tell who is trying to show off and who is trying to look nice and I'm talking about both men and women. Women that wear daisy duke shorts with bikini tops and guys who were the mesh tops and there not at the beach are obviously showing off.

| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/18/2008 1:50:11 PM | | I live in Florida. We wear lighter weight and fewer clothes most of the year. It's about necessity, not to make men crazy. The women who want to drive men crazy will walk around looking like a hooker even if it is freezing outside. | |

Come on girls, that was freaking hilarous. Of course women dress in skimpy clothes to get attention. Why do you think I love summer? You COULD be right to a certain extent......but for most, first and foremost it's for us and what we feel comfortable in.
WHat we all really want to know is....Did someone take care of Beef yet? ^^^Must have...............I haven't seen him around trying to hump legs lately or take a peek up anyones skirt.
|
| Skimpy Summer Cloths: Practical or Attention Seeking? Posted: 6/18/2008 2:24:34 PM | My tops tend to get a little on the skimpy side (for me, anyway) during the summer, but you'd best believe it has nothing to do with teasing men. It's because the humidity in my city at times can make 85 degrees seem stifling. And most people don't think of Chicago as being hot! We do get our share, though. I'd rather be dressed in less than sweating it out all over the place. Plus, like some of the other ladies said - I don't exactly have a body that's made for skimpy clothing.
And... Welder's Girl, I haven't heard this
coochie cutter shorts since high school, if not earlier! Thank you for the laugh.
