| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 8/15/2008 6:12:48 AM | My personal trainer organised a climb last weekend. I wasn't able to go, they all just met up in the gym car park and drove down at 1am or so, got there, climbed the mountain, sat up there for a while and drove home by about 1130 am. I was considering driving down instead of camping and just driving back up after, if it weren't for stupid 'after 11pm no driving' restrictions for me... ... I'll be camping there rjay, and booking myself in. And we're meeting below the mountain for a 2am start is that correct? What's happening after the climb/walk in the park (for some ie brisguy lol) guys? Are we staying the whole day or just going straight home? | |

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 8/17/2008 2:05:47 AM | We went for a ride down there today(we took the long way via Beaudesert and Kyogle and back up to Uki...lol...). We found that Uki pub doesn't do lunch until 12.00 so we had to head into Murwillumbah for lunch instead. This would probably be the easiest as it's on the way home for people to hit the highway. Everyone could finish the climb, pack up their gear wherever they are and head into Murwillumbah, have lunch, then head home...what are your thoughts? | |

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 8/17/2008 2:54:43 PM | 34 people who have no idea...
how very disappointing.
the Bundjalung Elders - the custodians of Wollumbin - have repeatedly requested that people RESPECT their culture and ask that you DO NOT climb this mountain unless you are (a) a man and (b) have been or are about to be initiated.
I climbed it many years ago BEFORE i knew about the Bundjalung.
How about you THINK
How about you SHOW SOME RESPECT
there are plenty of other less sacred mountains around. there are plenty of more respectful ways to get fit.
ps. the campsite which you're gunna be paying for is a paddock. Nasty. AND they've got the audacity to charge for the priveledge of using it.....if you must do it, have a look at the National Parks close by - they hit you $5 a night and they're utterly beautiful!!!
Love and Light,

Having said that, feel free to meet us at the base of the mountain at 2am and express your concern in person. At least you'll show a true commitment to your beliefs as opposed to bumping a few keys on your keyboard and while you definately won't stop me from climbing the mountain, you may earn some respect for your commitment, regardless of how wrong I believe it is.
So, what ideas do people have for afterwards. Surely we'll be down the mountain by about 8.30/9ish..... | |
