| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 8/19/2008 4:09:28 AM | The Greenman,
Mate get a life.
The aborigines were not the first people of this fine land and will not tbe the last. As far a sacred sites go, why are they always the most visual/political sites? I know of campgrounds now residing on Bora rings (one of the most sacred of sites) and no one cares, Midden heaps which should be preserved for eternity- no one cares.
Bit like the greenies that protest that selective logging will damage the forrest, but when it comes to removing noxious weeds that are invading the forrests or fighting raging bushfires that will destroy the landscape there is not a greenie in site.
The campsite might be a paddock but someone has to slash it , pick up the rubbish, maintain the area and pay public liability on it, and they ask a few dollars in return...
Climb away guys and share the culture and presence that is Mt Warning. Think of the people that consider this a sacred site and respect the area as that, a sacred site, not an exclusion zone. If it wasn't for a poker run i would be there embracing the wonderful sunrise over an amazing land and would no doubt be be thinking that a higher being had to have a hand in something so beautiful.
I will go hide now

Right! seriously though, i think if we all plan our weekend well, we can each bring along our own personal contribution to a picnic for those that choose. as for the actual destination for said picnic, i know there'll be more than one spot along that beautiful tweed river where we can set up shop and i'm happy to discuss the exact spot when we're all together as there'll be more than one local on this climb so there should be a few good suggestions as to where we could go. Locals? are you reading this? helloooooooo? picnic areas for suuundaaaaaaay?

And it wasn't me who was screaming coming down Mt Glorius the other week....LOL...Although in all fairness, it is a bit of a winding road coming down, and we were going at a reasonable pace. You are a bit of an adreneline junkie aren't you.

Barney and looking at it from there.(couple of years ago, LOL). Count me in. Climbed it couple of weeks ago. Did 1hr. 15mins. Apparently that's good. At the time we spoke of a sunrise climb so was so surprised to see this event come up.

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 8/25/2008 2:48:59 PM | Unfortunately, I havnt been able to get on the internet much at all over the last few days (thanks Optus... grrrrr)
I have also had the flu and had lots of other stuff happening...... hence I havnt been able to arrange a get-together prior to the event.
I suggest perhaps we all meet for either an afternoon tea or dinner on the Sat night.. what does everyone think?
The idea of a picnic basket where we all contribute for after the climb is a great idea -:)

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 8/25/2008 6:53:43 PM | Hello everyone, I think the idea of meeting beforehand is great, but maybe afternoon tea rather than dinner for those who might need their beauty sleep. My friends and I will be arriving at the Holiday Park friday night, so if anyone would like to pop in for a cuppa or a drink over the weekend, you are more than welcome. | |
