| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/4/2008 8:15:23 PM | | It will be an awsome achievement, especially when you see the view!! bring something warm, wish the weather to be kind.... it can get cold up the top after the sweatty climb... eeeewwww... years ago we used to sleep up there!! but not allowed now, used to see the lights of brisbane, now the gold coast is so huge, that is all you can see at night.. Im looking forward to meeting some great people. Cheers - is it still a sunrise climb? | |

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/5/2008 3:54:13 AM | | hey, my 16 yr old daughter may come with us if she is with me for the w/end ? so i get the changing ideas thing - as they do at that age!! IF ANYONE wants to stay ova the night so you dont have to travel so far b4 the climb, my home is open, as i only live 15 mins from the mountain... ALSO prob not too many snakes around that time either, or it will be too dark to see them.. ? a good torch is a must - a head torch is prob a good idea, cos it frees up your hands, for climbing, etc. plenty of chockies and a hot cuppa for the top sounds good. | |

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/5/2008 4:05:19 PM | L.H.Lady, thanks for the offer of accomodation the night before
A bottle of champas to celebrate once we reach the summit would be cool (even though I dont like champagne -:) ) and of course a hot cup of nescafe expresso (pretend that is a coffee mug... lol )
We shouldnt have to worry abt snakes too much as it will still be too cool for them and we will have to look at car pooling once it gets closer to time.
Congrats debnco... its been over a week hey mate, your doing great

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/5/2008 6:26:14 PM | Have enjoyed reading all y0ur posts. Count me in too. Are we camping at the Mt Warning camping park Saturday night? Don't worry about snakes, they'll all be tucked away when we go up, and still too cold and sluggish to be seen when we come back down. Debnco, congrats on giving up smoking. Its amazing how good you feel afterwards isn't it? Gyps, don't stress about the climb. Keep on getting fit, you'll find the climb a cakewalk. Maybe a LLOOONNGG cakewalk. But we'll all be doing it together. | |

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/5/2008 6:27:32 PM | LH, I thought it was just mine that was like that....lol, but it must be an age thing.
The offer for an open house is great. I might just take you up on that. If a few stayed over we could probably have a BBQ and a bit of socialising which would be great.
Head torches is another great idea. I'll get to the camping shop and check them out. Who else might need one?
So I'm guessing a back-pack as well for the food and drink(and Vandy's choc bars...lol)

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/5/2008 6:33:18 PM | Ricici, we used to climb Mt Larcom when I lived in Gladstone, and it was a great feeling when you are sitting on the top. Obviously that doesn't make me a mountaineer, but it was still great fun.
LH, I tried to send you a message regarding staying at your house, but the 75 mile restriction stopped me. It still thinks I'm in Georgia US, and I guess you're beyond 75 miles anyway. Can you shoot me a PM please and I can then liase with the others from up this way.
Thanks | |
