| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/11/2008 5:36:23 AM | Hey guys and girls,
I haven't read all the posts but I will add my bit as it was only a couple of months ago that I climbed that thing. My mate asked me if I wanted to go for a bush walk - I mentioned to him later that I'm sure he didn't say mountain climbing.
There are 100's of steps Deb. Be prepared to have a backpack - very light with a light jacket, water and even food. Or a strong man to carry all your things for you.
The two guys I went with - fit and healthy - work out - sporty and all that, they both fell on the way down. Be prepared for it to be wet and slippery - so good climbing shoes and you will get muddy if it is wet. Morning sunrise so good torches on the way up and a be on the lookout for a good walking stick between now and then. It's amazing how much you think it helps.
I couldn't walk right for two days - my calves were in agony - so get walking now. I don't think I am an inactive person as I play soccer with men weekly and walk, but it is hard. When you get to that chain at the end - YOU CAN DO IT. Just take your time.
As long as it's not overcast when you get up there it is worth it. Some big stretches on the way down the chain - try the wrong side of the chain. And going down seemed much faster than going up - that's probably why the sore calves.
ENJOY. | |

Debnco, your little lectures can have a very positive effect even though, you may not realise it
Merchans, its excellent to hear you enjoyed the camp Once summer comes, there will be more camps, esp long weekends. Ulyssian is arranging an overnighter and Discojoe also is in the process of organising one. I will let you know of them, the houseboat thread is still in the backburner for now, again if it goes ahead I will let you know

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/15/2008 5:32:55 AM | hey people well I know I need your support so will mopre than likely post my successes or failures every night.
last night I completed another 25 mins on the treadmill at brisk walking/ jogging speed.
I had planned on doing an hour on the treadmill every night, tonight was the first night I tried doing the hour in one go, I failed. All though I do not see it as failing as I am doing more than what I was before. I did do 35 mins and 3.5 km .
Tomorrow and the rest of the week is going to be the real test as I do not have time after work to get on the treadmill for an hour and do all the other thousand things a working single parent has to do, therefore I am going to be getting up an hour early to go on the treadmill before getting ready for work. This is really going to be a test as I am not at all a morning person.
Wish me luck!!!! | |

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/15/2008 1:51:20 PM | Hi Gypsy Not sure Annie and I will be attending the climb as yet, it will be a last minute thing as we don't get back from Bali until the 12th Sept.Had this person I thought was my best friend having problems do I gave them all the support I could and was there for them when they needed me. So when Annie asked me to go to Bali to chill out it sounded like a good idea, but it turns out that friend stabbed me in the back and has put me through hell. They obviouly weren't the friend they acted to be. So going to Bali is exactly what I need. If we are feeling energetic after our holiday we will be there. | |

For you to do 20 min at a walk/jog speed is fabulous, you are fitter than what you think
Why not try 15 - 20 min of a morn and 15 min at night and gradually increase the amount of time every few days.
You go girl, you can and are doing it, we are proud of you
