| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/23/2008 5:57:54 AM | | Hello everyone, been reading all the comments, sounds like you're all having fun preparing for it. My friend and I have been trying to get fit climbing the mountains here at The Glasshouse Mountains. Thinking about coming along, but it sounds a bit daunting from what you've been saying. | |

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/24/2008 12:56:14 PM | Looks like I may have to join this walk....................
I too have just given up the dreaded smokes, 21/6/08 (my birthday), after 26 years. I walk for an hour every morning, and sometimes in the evening. I also drink water likes its air. Both of these things I never did when I smoked. I have also become very aware of everything I eat and so far I am at 78kg, down from 100kg :D
So more power to you quitters, the benefits far out weigh your/our minds excuse to smoke!
Peace and gratitude Dave | |

| Mt Warning sunrise climb combined with get fit before the climb 13th Sept Posted: 7/27/2008 1:12:13 AM | hi guys...
just thought you might like to know a couple of things about your destination.
one: the local Koories call their mountain "Wollumbin". They - the Bundjalung Nation - encourage people to use this name.
two: the Bundjalung people consider it very disrespectful to the spirit of Wollumbin to climb the mountain. Under Bundjalung law, only specifically chosen people are allowed to climb Wollumbin. Out of respect for their law and culture, the Bundjalung ask that you consider choosing not to climb.
May I respectfully suggest that you consider choosing to visit the equally spectacular and just as gorgeous Lamington National Park - it's considerably closer to Brisbane, the park has an awesome array of accommodation and walking options and is waaay less strenuous!
If you do decide to climb the mountain, be aware that you will need to set off at around THREE AM to catch a 6am sunrise!!!!!!! The return journey takes between 4 to 6 hours....divide that by two and take that away from 6am (sunrise is about then at the moment) and you've got the time you need to LEAVE your camp. How long will it take you to get up, get dressed and set out? Whatever that number is, subtract that from your 4am start!
Not trying to cruel your weekend away - just wanting to share some local knowledge which comes from a very experienced bushwalking guide....
Love and Light,
The Greenman
