| Bombers... Posted: 11/2/2008 6:36:46 PM | Kharma, talking about Calgary, ya know that the GM/Head Coach for the Stamps, John Hufnagel, or Huffer, used to be the backup QB to Tom Clements, for Bombers of the GLORY YEARS, in 1984, when Bombers USED to be the POWER HOUSE team, and Bombers went the distance that year, to BLOWOUT former Bombers QB, Dieter CHOCKER Brock of the Ti-Cats 47-17 in the Grey Cup that year in Edmonchuck.
What a year it was, and that is when they had good ole Cal Murphy. Also, GM, and former Bomber Paul Robson. That was the first time in 22 years, that Bombers had WON, the Grey Cup, since their last Grey Cup appearance before that in 1962, which Bombers lost to the same Ti-Cats team. Let's hope that it is not another 22 years, before Bombers WIN at the Holly Grail again, because, it has been 17, going on 18 years, since Bombers WON, their last Grey Cup, here in Vancouver, when they BLEWOUT, Tracy Ham and the Edmonchuck Eskimos, 55-10.
So, time IS DUE, right NOW, it IS, Bombers turn to WIN IT ALL, including the Grey Cup, THIS YEAR.

| Bombers... Posted: 11/3/2008 9:33:17 AM | NEWS FLASH!! NEWS FLASH!!
So you think the CFL is boring? Lacking character??
Well here is one for you.
Michael Bishop, the quarterback of the Saskatchewan Rough Riders is a fox!!
Well maybe not quite really...but he is related to one! Namely, Jamie Foxx! Jamie Foxx's real name is Eric Marlon Bishop and is the first cousin to none other than my favorite team's lead quarterback ( I still don't trust his inconsistent arm). And guess what else? One of the MOST FAVORITE PAST TIMES of southern Americans including Texans (which where Michael and Jamie come from) is ....... .......get this.....
BANJO PICKIN!!!
Ok ! thanks for the indulgence. Now back to Bomberdom!
I just learned awhile back ( so forgive me if this is old news to you) that Troy Westwood has once again been allowed back into the dressing room as a Sun Media Reporter.
What the hell finally has got into the Bomber Office? Have they lost their friggin minds?? I could have sworen they had become a bunch of idiots in there and were incapable of change! Then they suddenly get smart. Get their heads out of their A Holes...and quit with this stupid ego thing......and guess what? The team starts winning!!!
Maybe in thier spare time they have been reading posts on here and finally GOT IT!! What you think old DTC ? You think we got through to them?? LOL!!
My comment on the Serna decision is that I DO NOT fault Berry for giving the kid a chance. Great kickers are hard to come by. First they are all a little weird! Sorta like goalies in Hockey! Secondly if they are too good, they get snapped up the NFL. Usually its best if they are Canadian! And lastly almost all professional athletes need some sort of mentoring before going professional.
So Berry brings in young American kid with no connections here. Instead of making things easier by having him work along side Westwood...he actually makes things harder on the kid by not only getting rid of Westwood but doing it in a way that creates anomosity from fans and I believe players as well. So now the kid is stranger in a strange country, playing a game that is different than what he played, in a situation where there must have been some pressure from resentment.
This smacks of poor ability to understand human nature....this poor ability cost the Toronto Argonauts Coach his job and thrust that club into a downward spiral. The Bombers were on that same spiral! I believe someone in the organization stepped up and slapped some culprits enough to get some changes.....I would have liked to be a fly on the wall when this went down. And its a credit to good leadership in the locker room and in management. And to those, including Berry, who were humble enough to accept that they needed to change.
So my fellow Prairie Dusters....the last time the Bombers won a Grey Cup, was the year after the Riders won their last Grey Cup before last year. If history can repeat itself, if the Riders were to lose a Grey Cup there is no other team i would rather they lose it to.

| Bombers... Posted: 11/7/2008 5:21:49 PM | HEY!!!
The season isn't over yet!! It might be tomorrow but not yet!!!
They are out in droves shovelling the stands at the Stadium......
I wish th0se softy "larks" (allouetas) were playin in this stuff....they probably would head home and forfeit the game!!
Come on DTC ... | |

| Bombers... Posted: 11/7/2008 5:45:22 PM | You gotta wonder when one of our running backs, Fred Reid hasn't played in snow and ice before.
"I've never played in weather like this, never played in snow," began Reid, born in Tampa and schooled at Mississippi State. "But it was kinda fun out there today, other than my toes going numb. Believe me, I WILL have two pairs of socks on, because my toes are numb still and I can't run like that."
Smith, for the record, may have been born in Monroe, La., but his Louisiana Tech Bulldogs did play in the 2001 Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho, in conditions so snowy they had to sweep the field free of the white stuff regularly.

| Bombers... Posted: 11/8/2008 9:53:23 AM | THis is it friends!
The is the highlight of the 2008 CFL Season!
No margin of error. A win and we keep hopin for Championship....a loss and we are watchin with cordial interest at best.
I don't know about you but I don't want to be watchin my favorite off all sports with a "I really don't care who wins" attitude. I am not quite ready to go into sport after shock ...unwillingly having to accept "there is always next year".
Oh some of you may say to me, "well at least you are doubling your chances by being a split Bomber/Rider fan" That is true! But I also am taking the chance of a double PAIN should they both lose.
No! No ! NO!!!!!! I can't bear the thought. It is unthinkable! Unacceptable!
Go! Bombers! Go!.....Go! Riders! Go!
Today and tomorrow we must all basgue in the glory of wins!!
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/8/2008 4:36:18 PM | Well, that's the end of Bombers for this season, Edmonchuck, played the better game, and that is probably, the last time, that you will see Stegal, playing for Bombers.
Too bad, that his promotion didn't work out.
Hopefully NOW, the Riders can take it the rest of the way.

I think you jinxed both teams there.
I like the coach we should keep him. Keep Serna & Glenn too.
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/8/2008 8:01:13 PM | Well, BOTH Bombers annnnnnnd, Riders are gone.
Guess I am going to have to go with COW TOWN, now, just as long as they don't leave any COW PIES behind.
OK, Huffy, fire up them Stamps, and bring them on.
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/10/2008 9:17:14 AM | Congratulations to the little dough boy Ma Chocha La Cacaroacha and the Eskimoches!
At least the Bombers made a game of it. And The Bombers should be congratulated for bringing together their team from catastrophe to some respect.
No comment ..on this thread.. about the Riders.
I hope I didn't jinx the teams but I think it was more about this knawing in my stomach that the Bombers and the Riders had both dodged enough bullets all season that now their luck was to run out.
Unfortunately the knawing turned out to be providential.
The Stamps will go on to squash Lion crap all over McMann Stadium. Hopefully Montreal is not too stale to go the Grey Cup. I think it would make for a verry good Grey Cup ...Calgary/Montreal.
I think the Bombers have patiently developed a good punter/kicker....it was a gamble that probably didn't cost them placing better than second in the East ....and in the end....Troy Westwood WOULD NOT HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE !
Some will call for Glenn's head.....I liked Glenn....pretty much always have , even from his Rider days....I still like him.....I will admit there was something wrong with him this year.....I wouldn't doubt personal problems or maybe a nagging physical injury....I think he will be better next year....maybe not MVP...but better.
I could be wrong but I have distinct feeling The Bombers could trade him for Michael Bishop!!! lol!!! But seriously its time for youth and Dimwitty!!
My feeling's that the Bombers need to make hard decisions *....rebuild...rebuild....rebuild..... Berry has made enough of mistakes this year.....some guys learn from mistakes...others don't....my gut tells me he ( as much as I dislike admitting) that he is one who learns...Taman needs to give him one more year ....but if I was Taman I would be having Richie Hall from Saskatchewan over for dinner.
Uncle Milt.....destined for TSN broadcasting (hopefully R. Black and Forde leave) , I hope one day gets the urge to coach with the Bombers and get his Grey Cup ring.(it worked for EricTillman)
Is it just me or do any of you also still find Rod Black an idiot!! You know this guy from Winnipeg almost never ever refers to his home town. Whats with that?
Ok The BEEFING is done.....I bow my hat to the Alouettes.....and wish them great success over a nemesis, the Eskimos.
With that I think we can say the issue of Troy Westwood has been settled....congrats to Little Hawk on his award for his music....Life moves on.
With having no CFL , NFL or NHL teams to strongly support, I can relax till next summer and watch for the sake of the sports.
To each and everyone of you who have blown half your paycheques on game tickets and Jumbo Beers I leave you with one cliche:
THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR !

Well Berry is apparently gone so there is an opening there....
With Berry gone there might also be the chance for Westwood to get his job back. During and interview on CJOB last night, Lyle Bauer insinuated that Berry made some changes that weren't necessarily good for the team or what it stood for in the community. If the management don’t bring Westwood back themselves, I heard that Westwood would ask for the job back himself. Guess we’ll have to wait and see...
So...we'll have a new head coach in a couple weeks. Should we start a new thread? lol
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/13/2008 6:51:31 AM | ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Oh my god..........I can't believe you opened the Troy Westwood pandora's box! You are evillllllllllllllllllllll.
One thing I will say about the Berry firing........Sue was gracious enough to admit that she was off base about some of the things she said about the team earlier in this thread. So given some of the statements coming from Lyle Bauer about his perception of the lack of team chemistry.....I will likewise admit that I was giving Berry and the coaching staff too much credit.
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/13/2008 7:00:39 AM | Oh my god..........I can't believe you opened the Troy Westwood pandora's box! You are evillllllllllllllllllllll
^^^ And THAT my friend is why people LOVE me!
Personally I wouldn't want to see the guy back, but if I were a betting woman, I'd say he'll be back next season. The team and new coach will take him back to try and save face... then he'd stay for one season and then quit.

| Bombers... Posted: 11/13/2008 9:58:55 AM | Well since some are not letting this one thread die...and there is now hope for Troy....I must say I need to be given credit for giving Berry "the kiss of death"....as soon as started to think that maybe he has learned some lessons and might be coming around as a good coach....guess what? ...they fire him!!
I think the only thing saved Taman's rear...is slip slidey maneuver that brought Moreno ( one OF only 2 Bombers elected as an All Star) FOR NOTHING!!!!
Maybe we should start a Tom Canada thread???
Westwood is now a mega recording star....haven't you heard?? That coupled with his Sun Reporter gig (with access to the Bomber Locker Room)make him much too popular to be a lowly kicker.
Where is that DTC Guy anyway? I am blown away that he hasn't had something to say about Berry's firing......Is it possible he is off somewhere smokin a Dobie? Or maybe blowing one!!! LOL!! (sorry bud , I couldn't resist)
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/13/2008 10:11:32 AM | Oh !! Ya! Its only rumor but the reason Berry got fired was because he wanted to trade Rob Brown and Glenn for Michael Bishop in Saskatchewan .....Saskatchewan refused and said , "NO ! You gotta take Bishop for nothing or no deal."
Berry wouldn't accept the counter offer . He said the Bombers can have only one good player on their team (they already have Moreno) and they can only afford ONE , over- paid, inconsistent starting quarterback.
Taman wanted to accept the "free" offer of Bishop but couldn't quite go ahead since somehow Saskatchewan couldn't be made to feel they had been "taken". This was a deal breaker for him.
Bauer saw that the whole thing was ridiculous...that both Berry and Taman are idiots ....but he was only able to find ONE PINK SLIP in his drawer...so he chose and Berry was fired!!
|

I'd hit it! Erm...I mean post in it
Where is that DTC Guy anyway? I am blown away that he hasn't had something to say about Berry's firing And Chuck dares to say I'm evil....

| Bombers... Posted: 11/13/2008 11:06:58 AM |
Well since some are not letting this one thread die
Some?......ahem........dude.........were it not for you and the often incomprehensible ramblings of DTC, this thread would have died a swift death months ago.
and there is now hope for Troy
Seriously......the only hope for Troy is that the East Side Eagles are looking for a waterboy next year. He's done. Period. Exclamation point.
God, I hope I'm right about that.
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/16/2008 11:27:44 AM | *Bauer saw that the whole thing was ridiculous...that both Berry and Taman are idiots ....but he was only able to find ONE PINK SLIP in his drawer...so he chose and Berry was fired!!*
Kharma, Bauer made the right choice, of getting rid of Berry. Infact, Berry should of had his A S S shot the H E L L out of there a loooooooooooooooooong time ago.
Did Berry show ANY, leadership????????
NOPE, NONE at all, just a big whinny, cry baby, when things didn't go his way, and the WHOLE team suffered for it, ALL because of Berry's stupidity.
So, YOU BETCHA, that I am happier then H E L L, that they got rid of him, NOOOOOOWWWWW, before HE, could do ANY MORE DAMAGE, just like Mike Keenan did with the Canucks, and other NHL teams that he coached.
If they had left the firing of Berry any longer, there would of been major, MAJOR damage control coming out of Bombers head office.
And with Berry having personal differences with Troy Westwood, was just the start of things to come, on the downslide. I could clearly see right at that point, at the beginning of the season, when IDIOT, Berry decided to have Troy fired that Bombers were heading for trouble.
Ya just DON'T, boot, a loooooooong time veteran out of there, all because a coach as Berry has got personal differences, with his kicker, and punter.
And ya don't think that letting go a long time verteran such as Troy, is not going to effect the other players, especially, the newer players confidence, and spirit????????? ALL, because, of an IDIOT coach such as Berry has got of having personal differences with his players???????
Well, guess again, you could see it, and feel it, and it showed in their ability to play football. Because, now, you are starting a feeling around the players of, okaaaaayyy, who is going to get canned next. And you don't think that effects the whole team.
Guess again!!!!!!!!
And if that was not bad enough, then why do you think that Roberts was happier then H E L L to get out of there. It was because of Berry's STUPIDITY. And Berry had already, set that tone, by having Troy fired.
Troy's demise, was not just because he was having some, YES, I said SOOOOOOOOOOOME difficulties in kicking and punting. It was more to do with F-HEAD Berry's personal differences with Troy. Therefore, I give Troy full credit for showing a lot of loyalty of wanting to stay with Bombers, and work his kicking and punting problems out.
But not Berry, the bottom line is, Berry wanted Troy out of there, no matter what, and Berry was going to stop at nothing, to get Troy out of there.
And NOW, Troy has got the last laugh, and I am laughing with him, because, Troy now, has a job with the Sun press Media.
As the old saying goes, what comes around, goes around, so by Barry firing Troy, eventually got Berry fired in the end, because, of Barry's own stupidities.
Thank GAWD, they got rid of the F'N IDIOT, Berry.
However, getting rid of Taman as well?????
All because, that ya got rid of a stupid, IDIOT, psycho coach???????
Uh, uh, NO WAY, that would of been a MAJOR mistake by Bauer, and I think that Bauer knows that.
At least Bauer and Taman have got some brains upstairs, where Berry doesn't.
And Berry IS, your classic example, of the psycho IDIOT, that you do NOT, need on a job site either. And that is why, Berry IS GONE.
A long time coming, but, BUT, at least Berry IS GONE, and NOW Bombers can concentrat and plan on rebuilding, a much more better and stonger team then ever BEFORE.
And ya don't think that is going to happen, with Bauer, and co at the head of it?????????
Then read the heading and article in todays Sun.
The Heading goes like this: "No room for mediocrity".
Part of that areticle in the Sun goes like this:
While we suggested the move should have been made at mid-season because this organization can't accept a team that's in or near the basement, Bauer took it a step further with his message at season's end.
Followed by Bauers statement: "This organization won't tolerate mediocrity. It has done so for far too long".
So, firing psycho Berry, was one step forward to eliminating "Mediocrity."
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/16/2008 1:23:11 PM | Well nice to see you haven't left the country DTC....
I am surprised you made no mention of the further saga that has now included a demotion of Taman to basically scouting from GM position.
Mike Kelyy from Edmonton is being toted out as the Berry's replacement but with some GM duties.
I wwent to the Blue Bomber Web site and played the interview Taman had over his removal of duties.
I feel somewhat justified feeling that the problems within the players ran a bit deeper than the coach.
I watched Taman who at least cleaned up and washed before being interviewed. From his answers about Troy, it is fully apparent he was in full agreement with Berry when it came to Westwood....with no remorse.....his comment re: Westwood even now: " I would hope we could do better".
That is one big A hole !! I wish I would have been there and said , " You! Mr Taman! Were fully responsible for getting a proven kicker into town if you felt "you could do better than Westwood" ! You, Mr. Taman did not do that and, at least as far as the 2008 Season, you ONLY GOT IN a kicker who performed worse! No matter how the cake is sliced , You Mr. Taman , ( more than anyone) are responsible for the poor kicking game the Bombers had this season! At least Berry took Serna (which is all you gave him) and helped him improve. You deservedly are not GM material and should be happy to still have job.
I also think this schmozzle with Canada being traded for Moreno and themnMoreno coming in for NOTHING has caused some very bad behind the scene issues. That was totally Taman!! I would think other teams would have trust issues of dealing trades with him in future.
By the way!! Based on as unbiased opinion as possible...I think the two most deserving teams got into the Grey Cup this year ....and this should be one of the best equally matched opponents in many a year...It should be Great One! Everyone Enjoy!!
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/16/2008 9:45:50 PM | Hey, isn't it about time for Wally Buono to change scenery again?
| |
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/16/2008 10:24:35 PM | Leave the country, naaaaaa.
Good pointers, Kharma, however, the whole schmozzle is over, and yes, Taman did make some mistakes, but ya know, I still like the guy, and Bauer must like the guy to, to keep him, even tho Taman was demoted to a Scout.
Taman, first came to Bombers, as Player Personnel. Despite, some of the oddities, Taman, did bring Bombers some good players, and he reached a deal with Samuels, to let their differences go, from the past.
When Taman was promoted to GM, he had to take on a lot more responsibility, as not only just Player Of Personnel, but, GM. I still give Taman, credit for having the B A L L and guts yo take on, what he had do. Yes, there is no doubt, that he made some blunders, but, he also made some remarkable trade deals, and also progress, in bringing in good players, that could help Bombers out, and I think that Bauer realizes that, and that is why Bauer kept him, because, of Taman's ability to bring in good players, when Taman first was Director Of Player Personnel.
And why the demotion, is probably, that doing two jobs at once, was probably too much for Taman to handle, at one time, especially, since he was dealing with Bauer, and also a friggin, sucky, whinny, crybaby coach as Berry. Because, Berry WAS, a sucky, whinny crybaby coach. Therefore, I beleive that it was Berry, that talked Taman into and beleiving the same thing, that Westwood should go. Because, I also, beleived that Taman, tryied to pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase Berry. Probably, to get Berry to shut HIS BIG FAT TRAP, so he would quit whinning and complaining.
So, why the demotion, to scout, I beleive is probably, to allow Taman, to utilize his strengths that he has, when he was Director Of Player Personel. To go out, and actually scout for new recruits, and bring back some quality players, that Bombers need, and can use. As stupid and rediculous it may seem, making Taman, a scout is, amy guess, blessing in disguise. It is a hunch, that this will workout for the better.
As a scout, I will Taman the odds, that he will be out scouting for new players, and once again work his wizadry once again, as he did as Director Of Player Personnel, that he will come back with SOME - D A M N good players, for next year, for Bombers, all because, he now can focus strictly on recruiting, good new players. I will give Taman the odds, that HE, will do it, and that is as said, why Bauer demoted him, because, of Taman's ability to work his wizardry, once again. And at least it is worth a shot, and I think that is what Bauer is loking for. Anyhow, Bombers got rid of the psycho IDIOT Berry, NOW, Bombers, can start to rebuild, and as for coach, if they can ONLY find one with the calibre, such as Huffy, from Calgary.
Don't forget, Bauer also know Huffy, very well, because, Bauer was also a teammate of Huffy's, when Huffy was Bombers backup QB, to Tom Clements, during te 1984 season, when Bombers went all the way, that year, and brought home the first Grey Cup in 22 years.
I remember that very, VERY well, because, Huffy was also Calgary;s QB at one time as well, and that is probably the reason, Huffy went back to Calgary, just like Bauer came back to Bombers. And NOW, Huffy has the Stamps in the Grey Cup Final, against the Al's and guess who I will be pulling for???????
Huffy and the Stamps, to WIN, the Grey Cup.
Also, here is a quiz question, about Bombers, who did Cal Murphy asign, as interm head coach for Bombers, when Cal had to go into the hospital for a heart transplant.
This is going back to about 1990 or 92. Anyone remember??????????
Ok, I will tell ya, how does Urban Bowman sound. Ya, it was Urban Bowman.
Anyhow, Bombers need to now, concentrate on rebuilding with what they have got, and ASAP, and the sooner the better, NOW, with IDIOT, Psycho Berry GONE.
So, I say, ok, Taman, work your wizardry, GO GET the good players needed for Bombers, and bring them back, to turn Bombers back into the POWERHOUSE team, that they once were.
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/16/2008 10:28:50 PM | Buano, with Bombes, well, maybe, JUST maybe, because, he had a lot of success in Calgary, and some in BC. That's if he is avalilable, and Lions will let Bombers talk to him.
Just as long as he does not bring ANY, IDIOTS like Doug Berry and Dave Ritchie with him.
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/17/2008 10:21:07 AM | Oh, by the way, Kharma, did I ever mention, that I have a direct line, e-mail connection with Brendan???????
No I am NOT, kidding, and it was kind of cool, to e-mail him, and get a response back.
I had watched one of the video interviews, with Brendan on Bombers website, and Brendan, had taken it really well.
And I still think that Bauer, made the right choice, of keeping Brendan, despite what happened, with the IDIOT psycho, Doug Berry. Thank GAWD, that Berry IS GONESVILLE. Now time, for Bombers to rebuild.
|
| Bombers... Posted: 11/17/2008 5:49:44 PM | Oh WOW!!
You are in the know!! Taman's email....I am impressed!
Now maybe you can ask him for me why several times this season when I saw him being interviewed and giving press releases , he looked like a piece of........a word for excreted releases from bowels!!
Yes he has done a dandy job scoutin....not sure he was ever that qualified to be a GM. Baurer mistake!
here's how I see it: - the players aren't a bunch of nobodies in total....there is some fine core leaders on the team......Milty will be very much missed for his inspiration. BUT....
The "O" line needs some work.....the linebackers have been ravaged by injuries....a little shoring up in defensive backs....but I think those guys will be better next year. There is some depth at quarterback. If Glenn is not real happy then we will see a trade. Otherwise not bad atheletes ...good potential.....I think a coach (and his chosen assistant ones) is vital to getting the Team to come out and give 110%.....VITAL TO FIND THE RIGHT STUFF!
Berry and MaCacaroacha both came out of a Montreal system that had some success once (but keep in mind it was controlled by the iron fist of a tough , disciplined and the most successful coach in CFL history) ....then stifled when everyone said they should be on top...(sound famliar) .....and now has flourished with the moving up ( and consequently out of coaching) Jim Popp ..... Both Berry and Macaca! coached as "alright" but with some mediocracy and with historical "also ran" mentality. Frankly I hope Edmonton keeps Macaca!! for another season.....they will always be competitive but never winners with him.
So this brings me back to my above paragraph...VITAL TO FIND THR RIGHT STUFF! Taman ...A Baurery's Boy! has shown good scouting ability.....Mr Baurery is now in charge of hiring the RIGHT STUFF with great Coaching ability and some management experience......If Mike Riley is the Man .....he better be the VERY BEST MAN ....and not just one of the Baurery Boys.
IF the next xoach does get these guys outa the gate and playin full throttle 14 of 18 games next year.....The Bombers need to get outa the Baurery!
Then bring us a Dobie!!! We will all certainly need it!
