| who trains martial arts in here-what did u/do u train in Posted: 8/16/2008 10:49:01 PM | | I have studied Japanese Ju Jitsu now for over 5 years and I love it. It's also a fantastic way of staying in shape more than anything. Matrial arts is great no matter what kind you are studying because you are learning self defense, and you are also getting a great workout. The biggest things I can say it gave me was self confidence and discipline. | |

| who trains martial arts in here-what did u/do u train in Posted: 9/24/2008 11:51:13 AM | | I wrestled in HS and trained some one on one combat submission wrestling for a couple months. I'd really like to get into MMA training or at least find a decent but inexpensive Muay Thai or boxing gym...but money seems to go everywhere else these days. I live in Hamilton Ontario...right close to one of Canada's premiere Karate and MMA dojo's...but nearly $100/month is just too much for me to justify. | |

If it is a reasonable distance, and I don't know if it is or not, I would highly recommend Hanshi Albert Mady's school. Here is a link, check it out. http://www.madyskarate.com D.

I'm thinking of taking up Kali/Escrima/Arnis (doesn't matter to me which name they use, long as I get to do some cool stick fighting. )

Would basically be just like a ninja/assassin. Seems like it would be a lot of fun to try learning both. Parkour seems extremely difficult though and not for someone who is afraid of heights, like me.

Been going at it for a little over 4 years. Much slower than a lot of other styles, but I feel like I'm earning every bit of it.

These days I primarily teach, however every class is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of each technique , and the application of it .

Make no mistake however... they are NOT martial artists. MMA.. is aa great SPORT... I didnt learn Martial Arts as a sport. I didnt learn how to fight to win a score card, or have time to analyze footage of an opponent before fighting him. BJJ wont help you one damn bit in a bar when some guys are cracking heads with pool cues.
Thanks for clearing that up for us. Let us know what GSP did when you said he wasn't a real martial artist. He must have been crushed that he didn't meet YOUR standards.

| who trains martial arts in here-what did u/do u train in Posted: 6/3/2009 4:26:59 PM | jesus guys, really impressive history with the time ye got in m.a. havent been in it long as ye have but hopefully ill get to the stage where ill wont have so much concern of training the whole time to feel confindent about it.
i started first off myself in the genbukan ninpo bugei(ninjitsu) based here in south of ireland. did that continious for 13mths while half way thru i started the chinese arts of street style kung fu, jeet kune do and tai ci for 9mths. in my own opinion i did so much continious training i didnt give myself a breather amongst it all, got burned out at the end of ninpo, so i took a break out for 9mths but even tho i didnt return to the dojo's yet, ive been still doing it at home. so now after considering that both styles of m.a dont mix, ill be back to ninpo with a few wks, which leads to my question to ye guys., im considering of taking up kick boxing as the other half to what im getting back to.., would kick boxing be best suited with ninpo?
its the other half of me that wants the lower body strenght as i felt in sum way that im not getting enuff lower body strength from it, i could be wrong, and i havent really seen anything else suited towards it!!
your comments would be greatly appreciated!!
