| The Moon Posted: 5/28/2009 11:06:13 PM | As the snowfalls My soul begins to live again The full moon hiding... My tears of lost memories..
Snowflakes from my heart.. Cold as the icy moon shining....
This is the end..
Alone in the bare silver rays From the hiding moon...

| The Moon Posted: 5/28/2009 11:45:38 PM | | Thank you Seahorsey, Fission and Rebel for the lovely additions to this thread. It did make me feel a little cold thinking about the moon in winter and the harvest moon. I am still back on the new moon of spring *grin* | |

| The Moon Posted: 5/30/2009 6:45:47 AM | I think that I will never be as predictable as e.e.cummings shining bright the moon and me still with a drummers drummings

| The Moon Posted: 6/6/2009 9:13:57 AM | As the moon rises, Many take off their masks, Why all these disguises.. Maybe cause of their tasks..
A full moon once a month.. Takes down the pressure.. Night awakens a many a moths, Might be the calling for sur,
As the moon rises to it's full This feeling of peace overcomes, All the days of bull.. A cresent moon is better then none..

| The Moon Posted: 6/10/2009 12:15:27 AM | Hi autumn... The monn always did have an effect on me,dunno whay but it's there.
Walking down the alley, Shadows dance silently, Through the silver rays Of the cresent moon.. Waves down my spine Tell me it's time.. Time to open my soul.. To the rythme.. Of the dancing shadows.. I hear singing in my mind.. Moonriver is the song.. As I dance with the shadows.. A smile from my lips Inspires me to sing out loud.. Funny thing.. The shadows disapeared..

| The Moon Posted: 6/10/2009 5:11:34 AM | peeking through the arms of a tree i spotted a vision looking down on me the moon was full....her light so bright a total distraction driving at night
so i found a place to stop and park to gaze upon her moonlit face and there i saw it....so very clear she truly was smiling and felt so near
does she always smile this time of year? it filled me a reverence and grace as though a blessing was taking place as she spread her joy through time and space

| The Moon Posted: 6/18/2009 9:59:32 PM | Thank you all for your insightful posts.
So many around me are experiencing unrest The moon darkens to obscurity Awaiting the summer solstice
Tempers flare unnecessarily Rubbing the raw edges of wounds Not healed
Wake up everyone this is not the time for war paint Drawing arms Instead of trying to paint this planet green
We are in our infancy of being a human race And we still don’t get it Wasting precious time
I sat in the dentist office reading about the alternatives People playing God again To put a blanket over global warming
Cause and effect It may be too late to stop The cities from being swallowed By the waters of the Artic
What will happen to mankind? A glitch in the system Are we all blinded? By the dark side of the moon.
|
| The Moon Posted: 6/21/2009 8:03:55 AM | The moon on this first day of summer will not dry the sweat dampened skin the sun is a merciless tyrant, except shade the trees are our only refuge it will be new moon this night and so we will get reprieve from the human wreckage our eyes rest, but our other senses heightened attuned to the bugle or battle cry "this is war boys" the captain shouts as the soil laps up the blood of dead and dying I hope to return to you sweet Elizabeth when it is finally over, and just let me be at peace | |

| The Moon Posted: 6/21/2009 5:57:14 PM | | Not sure who wrote this, but it's one my favorites......" I have loved the moon and stars too deeply to be fearful of the night"................ | |
|
| The Moon Posted: 6/21/2009 7:08:22 PM | Reach me down my Tycho Brahe, -- I would know him when we meet, When I share my later science, sitting humbly at his feet; He may know the law of all things, yet be ignorant of how We are working to completion, working on from then till now.
Pray, remember, that I leave you all my theory complete, Lacking only certain data, for your adding as is meet; And remember, men will scorn it, 'tis original and true, And the obloquy of newness may fall bitterly on you.
But, my pupil, as my pupil you have learnt the worth of scorn; You have laughed with me at pity, we have joyed to be forlorn; What, for us, are all distractions of men's fellowship and smiles? What, for us, the goddess Pleasure, with her meretricious wiles?
You may tell that German college that their honour comes too late. But they must not waste repentance on the grizzly savant's fate;
Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too truly to be fearful of the night.
What, my boy, you are not weeping? You should save your eyes for sight; You will need them, mine observer, yet for many another night. I leave none but you, my pupil, unto whom my plans are known. You "have none but me," you murmur, and I "leave you quite alone"?
Well then, kiss me, -- since my mother left her blessing on my brow, There has been a something wanting in my nature until now; I can dimly comprehend it, -- that I might have been more kind, Might have cherished you more wisely, as the one I leave behind.
I "have never failed in kindness"? No, we lived too high for strife, -- Calmest coldness was the error which has crept into our life; But your spirit is untainted, I can dedicate you still To the service of our science: you will further it? you will!
There are certain calculations I should like to make with you, To be sure that your deductions will be logical and true; And remember, "Patience, Patience," is the watchword of a sage, Not to-day nor yet to-morrow can complete a perfect age.
I have sworn, like Tycho Brahe, that a greater man may reap; But if none should do my reaping, 'twill disturb me in my sleep. So be careful and be faithful, though, like me, you leave no name; See, my boy, that nothing turn you to the mere pursuit of fame.
I must say Good-bye, my pupil, for I cannot longer speak; Draw the curtain back for Venus, ere my vision grows too weak: It is strange the pearly planet should look red as fiery Mars, -- God will mercifully guide me on my way amongst the stars.
Note: Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) has a strong claim to the title "Father of Modern Astronomy" for his insistence on systematic observation.
-- Sarah Williams (Published 1868)
I found this Dusty is this the poem you were remembering? Hi Fission your poems sounds like an old war epic and yes Seahorsey - new moon madness!

| The Moon Posted: 6/27/2009 5:13:20 PM | it’s said my life is pulled by the slippery moon not sure when it’s time to shine
or crawl up into a ball and sleep away dreams and nightmares
security I long to keep knowing when the wheel starts spinning
a carriage ride through the summer solstice wandering unfamiliar pathways - emotions strong
not wrong or very long before I’m twisting and turning with mirrors and blank walls
the paradox of still being a moonchild sometimes you just need to feel the ocean squalls
while summer folds you up into her transparent wings only then will you shed your skin
and sing allowing the water to resurrect the sanctity of the spirit.

| The Moon Posted: 6/28/2009 11:45:26 AM | beyond comparison or any real comprehension can be said about any single thing what does it take to command attention? Joy or pain ?what will tomorrow bring? another quest ,another riddle? I don't know of loons and Lunatics complicated algorhythms physics or quantum mechanics I only know the sun and the moon trade places | |

| The Moon Posted: 7/6/2009 9:04:05 PM | autumn...a little moon glow por tu...
walking my daisy in my jammies my neighbors don't mind me in my undies (or the lack there of) for the evening belongs to daisy i serve her not as a master but as a servant removing the thorn from her paw looking above the orchard i see Her golden luminescence knowing that in the morrow She will ebb again like the waves in the ocean and the rhythm of my body She flows as if it was a thousand year ago today and forever in the morrow
|
| The Moon Posted: 7/6/2009 10:51:50 PM | I loved that picture Rose you sure captured my imagination *grin* fishy you don't have to know all the quantum physics to understand the patterns of our celestrial neighbours. Sometimes just basking in their glow rejuvinates the spirit and brings peaceful feelings.
I often sneak out on the porch at night to gather moonbeams in my pocket
especially when vulnerability strikes those raw chords in your comfort zone
sending tingling doubts to collide with nature you look up and plead with the moon
to set you back on cycle it's a woman thing to shed emotions in the dark
trying to make sense out of misplaced confidence that was there only yesterday
I swear we have a biorhythm upheaval cheered on by hormones
sinking deeper into the abyss of insecurities, unglued.

| The Moon Posted: 7/7/2009 3:46:44 AM | mmmm.....writings here speaking from soul so clear.... so moving and humbling to hear.
suppressed desire releasing the chain where once was calm now a rising hurricane urging you from deep within release control, go on a whim don't think, accept the invitation meet under the full moon at night when mist will cast her eerie light resist and know this chance you'll miss to feel the passion of sensual delight
