how strange........i wrote this,this morning..........lol

last night there was a cartoon moon
the face so real, thought he would swoon
he drifted cross the star lit sky
the glowing orb,i watched it fly

there was a ring, with purple hue
the beauty made me think of you
viewing him i saw a blink
i looked again and saw him wink

Grizzerman what a unique way to observe the moon. I can see it through your eyes as a cartoon moon and thank you for posting.

Great Deal it was a beautiful full moon and very inspiring. You should try and write your own poem about our lady moon.

“it’s by the sea”

she heard a voice
whispering in the darkness
the swelling waters

break
and crash

then laughter
rings from distant shore

in tender light
hope rides

the chariot of
rapturous mirth

inside the shell
sounds of muted ivory

dipped in moonlight
a rebirth of the senses

and still
i watched her perform her ablutions

for me alone
i, just a speck of sand on a myriad journey

gasping silently
as appears she does

upon the celestial stage
the melody of stars at birth

one by one
unfolding

into pearly strands
enchanted

she dances in the moment
her turn to shine.

She hides behind purple black clouds
Seems she fears my lost mind
Lovely skies drift here and there;
seeming like a cloudy air
I watch with heart and soul devine;
my emotions are on fire, I cry
Yet she wishes not to descend!
Upon my silent place in time
I stand and wait ; my patient fate
I feel her pour her soul in mine
Although of her ; I have yet to see!
My Moon...my friend I know tis hard
to come again when life is scarred
I hold my breath and wait tonite
for your gleaming in my sight!
My life is sorrowful too!
I only want a glimpse of you...
Could you tell me of tomorrow?
May you end all of this sorrow?
I would be happy just to see...
that old man of mine...
winkin' at me!
May we make a promise tonight?
I will watch you go down in the morning...
If only you promise me ...
I will have no more pain without ...warning!
And with your fall , I will silently...
Sleep!

coyly
she kisses
the evening
with her luminosity
and gently begins to wane

I didn't write this....Rod McKuen did.....but I love it:

The moonrise
and the sunfall
are visible
to any blind man
with eyes enough
to feel the outline
of another blind man's breath.

Oooh I'm looking up past moon pieces!
found one....must have been pssed off about something when I wrote that.

Daughters of the moon
Ride the inner waves
Dizzying heights of possibilities
Crash against the stonewalled shoreline
Sandbanked against change.
It will take a tsunami to shift this stubborn treachery
Undo the lechery of lost souls entrapped
In the barbaric misery of war.
The gentle moon is not enough.
To move these ones.
Depths shaking and quaking in outrage
Tremble with the cries of broken hearts.
Enough blood spilt to replenish the pumped out oil wells.
New blood for old.
It’s all carbon based either way.
Tidal waters
Gentle rocking in eternity
Sing us into another way to be
Rhythmic forgetting,
hold the pain at bay
rock us still
In her motion.
War continues and the death march quickens the hearts of the Mothers,
And daughters of the moon.
Re-arranging of current events changes history
In the viewing of those who see
From the dark side of the moon.
The shadows give up the ghosts left haunting
The battlefields of despair
False glory and patriotic pride
Gift the sons and daughters
Promising future
Delivering death.
Mothers birth warriors
For the corporate machines
Of true anarchy.
Wash us in your waves.
Hold us in this place of forever
Long enough to catch our breath
As we learn to walk on water
And forgive them their sins
as the daughters of the moon
wax and wane.

um and I remember writing this one driving home in a huge red moon night.

Sanctified
Red moon dominates the eventide landscapes
Surreal against the mid-winter backdrop
There is nowhere else to look
Magnetized focus
As she rises gigantic above the horizon
And I am held
Still…..
Driving country roads of slush and solitude
Making my way
Home.
There’s something out there
In Coyotes secret world,
Stringing farm field to farm field
Forrest and river
Dotted houses set amidst
Lit up for all to see…
Passerby’s
Squatters.
Deer trails make passages known
And others follow
While the silent winged ones listen
As they have forever.
Do they see me?
Encased in metal
Spewing fumes of ancient forests
As I race across the landscape
Faster than any coyote can run?
That our worlds meet at all
Are shown in road kill
And sudden endings.

Now look Ravin you have me rhyming - now stop that!

I haven’t seen the moon tonight
She’s hiding somewhere out of sight
The glorious reminder of a summer wish
The tantalizing feeling of a stolen kiss
My heart is all out of rhyme
Out of sync, out of time
Oh lady in the darkest loom
Weave your magic with your silver plume
Feathers dancing upon my face
Crystal clear your gentle grace
Let me drink from the beauty only you bestow
My soul lies fallow without your comforting glow.

I wondered why I was wired at 5am
It's the moon.. isn't it
nicotine is my only stimulant
a couple beers and a doob should make me a fellow mellow
yanno?
I reckon that's why they call it moonshine.

and I really can't keep track of what stories I've written about
or just told someone on the phone
but, I've got a ton of memories that include the moon
and sometimes when the moon is full, I tend to repeat my stories
different words with the same beginning and ending
I ever tell y'all about Eggmont Key?
I've got a few minutes before the sun paints pinks and purples in the east

There's a bridge that they call the Skyway
a florida interstate
it's about six or seven miles east of eggmont key
when you're nipple deep in the gulf watching the moon rise over it, it's amazing
the cables of the bridge are painted of yellow or gold
when the harvest moon starts to shine upon the horizon, it glows
and the moon looks twice the size of all heaven, for the first hour
and as it get's higher, it gets smaller
nipple deep in near ninety degree salt water, I remind you
crabs crawling over ticklish feet and fish bumping off of you, if you don't move
the harvest moon rising above the atlantic with stifling majesty
stuns a person even from a gulf side key
that and I'm a scorpio
I'm all wound up around the harvest moon
the beach boys sung about kokomo
they left out crabs tickling toes
girls in happy-trances with sunburned noses
top on or top of.. it doesn't matter
watching the harvest moon rise while nipple deep in salt water

You asked for the last supper
I blindly agreed
Never becoming conscious

That my choice was amended by His Grace

Now suffer; my darling without intent
My daughter attends on my behalf
When will you believe in the full moon?

fragment: To The Moon by Percy Bysshe Shelley

Art thou pale for weariness
Of climbing Heaven, and gazing on the earth,
Wandering companionless
Among the stars that have a different birth,--
And ever changing, like a joyless eye
That finds no object worth its constancy?

^^^thanks Sis...but somewhere in my head I remember a man saying the least written in poetic minds cannot write prose regarding a foot/feet (told ya my memory is fading)VVV

The moon has waxed and waned
I’ve tried to abandon what was not tangible
Yet I can’t deny like my God
It just is
Like every full moon
And every glimpse
I wonder about you
Stars twinkle
I smile
Thinking of you

…purrrrrrr I think I believe he has forgiven me…anyone note BRAwnydog’s size?

another wish....

You have shown me
Colours
painted in hues
I only know
I live in the desert
that NO
Man bravely
follows
and I still wear my veils
I’m too old to be your bride
too young in history
I just AM
Me…depends on the silvery moon
I’ll forgive you for being around
Much easier to let love begin
I’ll refrain from not knowing
yesterday to history
Somehow that sends all the cold within me
Begging for your arms to thaw my heart
as I search a full moon

Can we pick the moon out of the sky
give it to our kids to hold in safe keeping

Some people think we need a firm hand with our kids
But they are not baby goats are they?
Herded into a paddock and given clean hay to find sleep

Rules and boundaries are more to control
And not expand the minds of our next generation
Now’s the time to give them wings
The pull of the tide doesn't affect their sense of adventure

Challenge their minds with puzzles
Get them hooked on reading
Anything as long as it interests them

Why are some so hell bent on controlling any way?
Too many opinions not asked for
Tunnel vision - some can’t see the possibilities in motion
Those young minds ticking

Kids will be kids
Young and unprejudiced bystanders
With open minds and a fistful of ideas of how to change the world

Soon enough they will have a mouthful
Of too much reality to chew on
For our mistakes

It is harmless let them look inside
Their crystal bongs and explore independently
It’s ok to let them go

To avoid the mould be different
Create their own music and passion for life

We sit on the front step in our rockers
Trying not to judge those without children

Watching the sun setting in the west and the moon rising
Each layer a new shade of trust

Our sun may be setting but theirs is just rising in the east
It’s always a new angle from every side you look at it

Let them be kids for today – give them a chance.

something inside of me unfurls
when you come
a subtle invasion
innervation...
where Gia moans
and sighs ...
and I feel her
when you come

An Owl
silver eyed
I am
always have been
but didn't understand
'til I knew you

Celestial memories
Stardust echos
turn, vibrate
as you lay over me

enigmas beam from these
your shimmering mysteries -
glimmering over my secrets
that with you only
I've shared

...and I've seen you sneak in to look on me
before you usually rise

tonight you're gone ...
but I'm okay-
soon .....
something inside of me will unfurl
when you come

That was lovely Songmn - stardust echoes, enigmas beaming and a silver owl of the night. Thank you for bringing that into this thread.
