As a health professional you shouldnt be asking who its widely accepted by should you!! As I said ,I work with these people, I know how they got to where they are now, most of them taking anti-psychotics for the rest of their lives, nobody will ever convert me to seeing weed as a good thing.

I think you are confusing weed with other drugs such as cocaine/lsd/crack/crystal meth and the list goes on. Might I also point out all the above are created by man.

Funny thing is, that using a plant made by GOD is now a crime while using poison made in a lab is acceptable..
My great aunt that served in the Army, Air force, and the Coast Guard as well as having been a spy for the CIA, told me all about the evil powers that was taking over our government ..
She warned me about the inevitable loss of freedom in America..
She also told me about how Big Business had gotten a solid hold on government and would dictate what freedoms we would be allowed to keep, if any..
Look at how some of these people think here in the forums..
You can easily see that most will support anything the government tells them to support..
It doesn't matter how un-just or senseless it is..
If the government says it's so, they will follow it to the tee. | |

Side note.......google effects of marajuana and go to FamilyDR. org.........and see some of the side effect for those of you who think you know more than the medical community...........I wouldnt want to be suffering from paranoia, or tremor,or reduced blood flow to my brain etc etc etc.........and it has more tar than cigarettes and does cause cancer.........

I'm with you on the whole subject. As long as what you do doesn't endanger your child, I say go ahead and do whatever you want to do. I think you sound like one of the best moms out there and you should be very proud. You're daughter is very lucky. | |

Second who says she smokes it. I am sorry but there are more ways to ingest Marijuana then smoking it.
As for these so called Health Care Professionals who state it leads to mental disorders what a huge load Of BS!!!!!
But then I suppose my twenty one years of working in the front line of health care. Emergency/Main Operating Rooms ect says nothing to what I have personally seen.
Knowing as many people as i have met in my life that occasionally smoke Marijuana that are lawyers/judges/surgeons/nurses ect and are very intelligent/other wise law abiding people says they are all degenerates according to these people on here. What a load of super hogwash.
Can we say we have been brain washed. I am a highly articulate, intelligent caring compassionate person.
I have worked for years and worked hard, I continue to have to go back to school and upgrade myself in my ever changing field of work.
You make anyone who uses POT sound like they are complete and utter idiots, to justify your beliefs.
The research, yes research not propaganda as put out by the US government does not support your statements.
Even in the jails the guards will look the other way to POT use but clamp down hard on the illegal creation and use of alcohol.
Why b/c Alcohol causes unrest in the populance, fights ect. POT does not.
For as long as we are human we will find ways to cope with life. This can be using perscription drugs to sleep/aid in depression ect or alcohol/Pot/being addicted to working/running whatever it is human nature plain and simple.
Throughout these posts only one other lady has read this op's entire post and seen exactly what I have seen. She is not a pot head who sits around all day getting stoned. She is a good mother who attends school and puts her child first.
But my words are all wasted on those that are firm in their high and almighty attitudes that they are the only right and correct and virtuous people on the planet and anyone else is just dead wrong.

Uh, yeah, I READ her post, and you're making a fool of yourself ranting about it when it appears YOU are the one who didn't read it very carefully. She has her child six days a WEEK, not six times a MONTH. And yes, she DOES commit criminal acts to smoke marijuana, because smoking marijuana (and possessing marijuana) IS a criminal act.

Posted: 6/18/2008 6:47:32 AM | I'm gonna go out on a limb and sound like a prude...but here are some ~FACTS~ that I have learned in my 25 years as a parent. Add to those, the experimentation years of my teens....and I feel I can give an accurate account. :O)
Smoking pot can and does lead to other drug use. And if you are a pot smoker who it has not happened with...yippee yippee yah yah!  It DOES happen.
Very first drug is usually a little weed. Then suddenly the weed is being laced with a little "extra something" and THAT is where the psychosis can come in, that some ER nurse poster person said she has NEVER seen in her xx-amount of years on the job. (I find that hard to believe! Maybe you are going by a urinalysis that only tells what the drug IS...and not that it was laced into...MARIJUANA?!)
Maybe it is just my community/area, which I seriously doubt...but having four kids exposed me to a lot of other children and their parents. Being active in the Girl Scout council, multiplied this. The kids who had the parents who smoked with them (and I realize the OP is not smoking with her daughter....yet.) are the same kids who did not graduate high school, were in constant trouble when they were there, one died from a heroin overdose, one is in jail for a life sentence after killing his GFs child while on heroin, countless resulted in young mothers on the welfare system, yada, yada, yada. You get my point. MAYBE this cannot all be contributed to MARIJUANA per se...but it did not HELP them in any way...and kids have it hard enough as it is!!!! Why, when it comes to raising a child, would you even risk it?!
So...OP...you are most likely NOT a bad mother. But you DID question it enough to ask about it in a public forum. But you could be a BETTER mother. | |

early on she will watch every little thing you do...you cant hide anything from children... she is witnessing her loving mother whom she loves and trusts to provide her with trustworthy and safe life practices...
then...when she begins to make her own life choices...chances are she will follow the lifestyle you have taught her or she will rebel never claiming you as her own...

However, the rest of America doesn't and yes most people sees the issue the way he sees it; people believe what the government, or religion tells them to believe, most people are sheeple. The biggest threats a marijuana user faces is ridicule, arrest, and discrimination, on that note I just wanted to post here to say that I think you should wipe your account on pof/forums [or atleast kill your pictures] as I would hate for your ex to have a transcript to bring into court one day if he is going for custody. I would also suggest you limit your child's exposure to marijuana as just like with second hand cigarettes if she grows aware of your usage she will try it, and she will like it and not only will she be stealing from your stash man, but she will be retarding the growth of her brain (this is a true study); this is why I believe the law shouldn't allow anyone to do anything (alchohal, pot, cigs ...) until your 21 and require education before hand. I'm not completely straight edge myself but all drugs/substances are really stupid, alcohol turns nice people into ***holes, pot turns smart people into dumb ones {here is my favorite}; although while you on it you swear your Descartes, and cigs well that is just dumb {oopps here too}...

Posted: 6/18/2008 7:11:56 AM | exactly dallas flier! one of the ways that we stoners think is because I "don't see any difference" betw alcohol & pot its ok to use. what about the judges with the laws behind them & the men with guns in front of them? the skinny is, should you ever get busted, you've now just invited the whole freakin system into your personal life. you are no longer "behind closed doors". issue: if the bb daddy decides, the courts will likely back him up removing your daughter from your custody. you may want to think about removing this post! not stoner paranoia here, but experience talkin.

While I don't think smoking pot is really any different than drinking (I grew up back in the day when just about everyone smoked it), BUT, with that said, it is an illegal substance, and if you got arrested, how would that effect your child? Also, just as with drinking, what if you were high/drunk, home alone with your child and there was an emergency? Would you be able to respond to that emergency? Imagine if you couldn't... how would it feel spending the rest of your life with that regret?
Also, you mentioned, "I'm against antibiotics and processed/pasteurized foods." So you won't put anything into your body that you feel could harm you, but you smoke pot? Smoking anything could potentially lead to lung cancer. If you're smoking at home with her in the house with you, you are subjecting her to second hand smoke. You are smoking something unfiltered with God only knows what it's been sprayed with. So, your arguement about how consciencious you are doesn't really wash as it applies to smoking pot.
If you said that you enjoyed partaking every now and then.... never in the house with your daughter... I'd still think about the possibility of getting arrested and humiliating not only your daughter, but your whole family, losing your job, etc. Until it is legalized (and not sure that will ever happen), I'd put your daughter first in every single way that matters. You have rules for her to follow, and the only way to truly teach her is by example. Breaking the law isn't exactly the way to do it.

I'm pretty certain that neglecting a 6 year old, to sneak off and get stoned, doesn't make you a good parent. | |
