I actually think Mr Ramsay is quite lenient, apart from his language. In many cases, he is a manager without the authority of management. I would have simply fired those I find unacceptable to maintain standards, for the benefit of the show, he tries to re-educate and re-train people who should already be qualified. Although, the qualifying interviews should have narrowed the field down to only competent and skilled workers in the workplace. As for apprentices, that's another show.

Cheers,

Satan m boy.
He's already in trouble with the pollies and the censors office. He tired teling them to get %^&*(ed, but they are very hard to tell that sort of thing to.

Just you keep an eye on him and post to the board when a group of overworked, underpaid, kitchen hands, down tools , walk out, an set up pickets. It will be the greatest black ban since Frankie Sinatra tried to bring his bully boys over from the US

I like the episodes where he does not scream and yell and swear. I'm sure he is just trying to intimidate some of the kitchen staff just for ratings.

Read most of the posts here it is about 50/50 re like/dislike GR.
I am middle of the road with him, don't always like the swearing but do like seeing him get people motivated and moving again.
I can see (like most of you) what he is trying to achieve with those he is working with. And he certainly has to listen to a lot of 'tripe' from people who are going down the 'gurgler'. End of the day they have asked for him to help them and since he has been around for quite a while with his own particular brand of verbal expression to get his point across? No big surprise he is going to swear at them. Sometimes I catch myself wanting to yell expletives at them when GR is out of the kitchen and they are whingeing.
He has come from tough beginnings to get himself to where he is today, so 'Go Gordon' gotta love 'battler makes good' even if he is a 'Pommie".

i've worked in many kitchens where the head chef was probably worse than GR in many many ways, both in verbal abuse, and physical abuse like throwing stuff, etc etc,
i'll be the first to admit too when i've been in charge of a kitchen, i've done my own share of the swearing, but, its my head if anything goes wrong, and unfortunately, there are lots of useless **stards out there that do work in kitchens (i might be one of them for all i know). so usually now i look at it as trying to get 2 goals sorted for the night,
1 - get the meals ready on time, for each customer
2 - it must look and taste good
thats all i ask for, and if they cant get it right after i show it to them 5 times in a row, they're a c&%t, and can get the **** out of my kitchen.
for some reason some people seem to think cooking is a "really easy job, anyone can do it"
WRONG!

insane diatribe over,
THE END

Wake up and smell the roses!!

ALL reality Television is engineered to the enth degree. For the Gordon Ramsey show they shoot around 30 hours of tape that is edited down to a 48 minute show. Do you think they leave out the GOOD bits?

The same goes for BB, the Restaurant Rules Survivor etc etc. Every person that appears on the show has to sign a waiver that their image can be used on the show and that waiver will also have conditions. The restaurants he goes into ASKED for his help and they too have signed and contracts and waiver against all sorts of outcomes.

I was in Sydney a month ago and met an ex UK Chef that worked under Gordon for 2 years and said he could not have had better training for the industry. Watching him work for a couple of hours I could see that the guy had pride in his work and cleaned after everything.

The man is a professional with the highest of standards. Those of you that think "Near enough is good enough" will never understand that.

Look, theres nothing wrong with it,it's real reality television. It should be allowed on Australian Tv,as stuff like this is pretty normal in europe, countries like USA and Australia, that traditionally have much stricter tevelvision codes need to loosen the strings and just as they already do advise before the beginnig of the program.
At the end of the day for adults it's fine, and I have no problem,I think Gordon is refreshing and great for Tv.
If you don't like the program, what do you do?Change the Channel.
Don't work yourself up over nothing for goodness sake.
If you have kids and have issues use the blockout or turn it off

Oh FFS! I worked in hospitality over twenty years, and old gordo is pretty typical...... most people front of house have no clue what's going on in the kitchen (that's one reason they complain about prices). The best chefs I ever worked with were absolute b*st*rds to the waitresses, dish pigs and kitchen staff in general. I wouldn't live with them, but I get what they were on about.
