What you do is look out for the Fish windsock, the teepee or the yellow balloons on arrival that's where the POFFer's are.
There are a few of us who know one another,yes but none of us knew each other at the May camp meet and that's where the friendships sprang from. We do go out of our way to make any new people feel welcome. All activities are optional and you join in wherever you feel comfortable.
We try and have a central point in the field (i tink it's the teepee this time) and most people gravitate to that and with general chat and everyone pitching in to help before you know it you feel like you have known people for years!

Can you count me in for the camping....I have survived the previous POF camping trip to Llangollen and have just recovered enough to put myself through another 3 days of torture under the guise of "happy camping"!!!

Sorry i've been missing been in and out of hospital still off work and don't think there going to let me go back till september at the earliest so i'm in need of the get away so looking forward to seeing everyone i'm hoping to get there on thursday Lilli are we camping in the same spot as last time

Dont know where we are camping just yet, depends on how busy it gets, some of us are arriving very very early, very early and early in the week, so i am sure depending on when your arriving you'll find us. 5m pole apparently... I thought it was mad, but saw a few out this weekend. you cant miss them!
I'll be there from Wednesday.

Posted: 8/11/2008 11:35:30 PM | A big awwww for Lily.....and a very warm welcome to all the newbies .....yes a number of us know each other from previous camping and other activities, and we are a group of friends .....the friendships were generally a direct result of getting together and having a really good laugh ...as the events rolled on...so the number of friends grew ....and long may it continue ....along with plenty of this  some of this  a bit of this  .....lots and lots of this ....and a very healthy dose of this  .....and at each end of the weekend ....lots of these   ....cos thats what friends do ......dont worry, you will see for yourselves ....see you soon  | |

There are a handful of us that are long time POF "hosts" and have arranged quite a few meets - so we're rather well known & know each other, (or our reputation goes before us lol ... that would be Duncan - I'm an   ) ...
Then there are about twenty people coming this time that have been to one or both of the other two Shell Isl meets we've had before - so they know each other pretty well - as you do when you spend weekends together , as you can imagine, most things have been witnessed along the line ... including standing on your head whilst peeing.  Thankfully, that was a small child. (Although I wouldn't put the feat past Lesley - but don't say I said that   ) ...
That leaves 60 sign ups - and then their guests too, that don't know each other - & lots of them vimpers too (Virgin Campers).
So it's a good mix! 'Newbies' ... & a 'nucleus' if you like, of regulars that are a very friendly, helpful mixed bunch & into different activities -... some, believe it or not, actually are quite healthy individuals & do sports and the like (kite buggying, kiting etc) - it's not all drinking & cavorting lol ...
There's something for everyone ... just take the plunge & join in ... you won't regret it!!!  | |

Well i've just been brought a NEW TENT so this time i'll be in a big blue and grey one if i can figure out how to put it up i might need some help   It does say it only takes 25mins to puy up ????????????????? We'll see
