I think you are confusing similarities in hobbies with the larger picture of the balance between your friend and what is still attractive.
I call it the tomboy who went a little girly syndrome. A guy loves a woman who loves some of the things he does. By all means we get tired of the "as long as I don't break a nail" thing. But she still has to balance those traditionally male activities with femininity.
Can you put those coveralls on and help put in a supercharger on the hemi cuda in the afternoon then put on a nice dress, makeup and all the feminine things are be equally at home in your own skin in say an opera or something that calls for more femininity and class?
Balance is the key. I think the most attractive thing for me is the ability to operate comfortably in both types of arenas as the situation calls for it.

One should never drive faster than your angel can fly.
Some of us just have angels with more power and better aerodynamics than others. Besides, I thought it was people putzing along in the fast lane that caused all the accidents (usually dufuses in minivans).

I got into golf...my ex was so excited he totally hooked me up...bought me my clubs, shoes, balls, socks, gloves, pully thing, everything I needed...and you get brought along on the ski trips, Indy races and his buddies don't mind it. Actually after we broke up the guys still invited me out on these things and not him...I was a better/more of a skier then him

I just started posting here, Someone has asked if my photo was current, and if I was really 45? Yes the photo was taken in March of thise year and I am 45 as of June 11th. Thanks so much for the compliment.
Ok, now for those thinking that I am a Tom Boy type, no your oh so wrong. I just love and appreciate old cars, I know that if I am with someone in a car and we see and old car, I find it a challenge to be able to come up with the make and year, as it drives down the street, and just to be able to do that I think is cool.
Sports, I was in Colorado for about 14 years and got into the Broncos, and the Rockies, and even though I live in San Jose, I still root for my teams.
I do have nails, (real, not fake) and I am not afraid to break them, and yes I can or would help with a car( NOT DRUNK) just a nice cold one would be cool, and turn around go into the house and clean up , put on a dress and heels and go out.
So Im not a tom boy, but just happen to love those things, and wondered if it would be a turn off or turn on for men who also like those things.
Ok, I have written a novel.
This is great, thanks for all the responses,

My life is classic cars! But you'll never see me racing, speeding or taking chances.
OP, many guys love gearhead chicks! As someone told me today, he knows I'd rather talk about carbs, 4 barrels, retinning, setting the timing and gear ratios than the current pop stars!

| Sports, old cars, guy stuff...do you like a woman into that or NO WAY? Posted: 6/20/2008 3:37:59 PM | OP it is great when something we like is something you like. And beats being asked, "When do they yell FORE!!!" while watching a hockey game. That said some guy things he may want to do on his own or with the boys. So if those boundaries are respected I can't see anyone being at all put off by it. | |

It sounds like from what you say you have good balance. That is what is key. If you go too deep into the guy stuff and can't fathom turning on the femininity and feminine wiles then you would have a problem.
And as a side note, as a former resident of San Jose, if you are a sports fan make sure you check out a Sharks game. It is really an experience you won't forget. Take a large group of friends and make a full evening of it. Dinner before downtown, Sharks game and some drinks after. I am not much of a hockey fan or much of a drinker but it was still a blast! Just unsolicited advice from a former resident of that area.
Cheers!

Guys wouldn't even wash their cars if it wasn't for you ladies. Think Mad Max - Road Warrior. So having a girlyfriend who appreciates a nice car instead of just an expensive one is a bonus.
Can't really answer the sports question, because it bores me to tears in every way. It's just another form of entertainment for those who watch and it would just be a form of exercise if I played it. Yeah ladies beach Volleyball for me everytime. hah

| Sports, old cars, guy stuff...do you like a woman into that or NO WAY? Posted: 6/22/2008 2:35:22 PM | Yes, I would like a woman who was into that stuff. Do you need to be able to quote obscure specifications like Marissa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny? No. I can't do that, but knowing WHAT a compression ratio is would be nice.
That, and if I am under a car and ask for a 7/16 6-point box wrench, not bringing me a screwdriver.
Now if a woman knows a 14mm can be used to get a stuck/partially rounded 9/16 off

| Sports, old cars, guy stuff...do you like a woman into that or NO WAY? Posted: 6/22/2008 6:45:20 PM | | Guys like women that are into that stuff, but there is nothing worse than a woman that pretents to be interested in stuff they don't care about. It horrible to go to a great car show with someone that wants to go home after half an hour. Or asks questions all through a game because they have no idea what's going on. | |

| Sports, old cars, guy stuff...do you like a woman into that or NO WAY? Posted: 6/24/2008 1:14:13 PM | Well, I think I just fell in love with you! :-) I have a 71 charger R/T, a 65 polara, a 70 dart and a 72 satellite. Ok, seriously, It is great when partners have the same interests. I firmly believe that those who play together, stay together.
I even sell used car parts and part out cars on a regular basis. I also sell a restoration coating for rust. It would be nice to have a partner that shared the same interests. It just seems to be harder to find women that are into some guy things.

Posted: 6/25/2008 1:47:21 PM | I use to beg the ex's to come out to the garage with me when working on an old car...but they complained it was too hot, too smelly, too dirty or no reply at all and huffed as they walked away.....but lord help if i refused to do something that was an interest to them....

| Sports, old cars, guy stuff...do you like a woman into that or NO WAY? Posted: 6/28/2008 9:06:28 AM | I think it would be great, the car thing at least. This would save me a lot of money on car repairs since about all I know about cars is turning the key and driving
The one caveat being, don't expect me to be doing them with you since I find few things more boring than watching sporting events. We would, though, have other things in common I am sure

| Sports, old cars, guy stuff...do you like a woman into that or NO WAY? Posted: 6/28/2008 11:27:58 AM | | My attitude is such: I love food, I love my photography, and I really really like cars. I love those things for themselves. The woman in question does not even come into the equation and it is highly delusional and egotistical for a woman to think otherwise. | |

| Sports, old cars, guy stuff...do you like a woman into that or NO WAY? Posted: 7/1/2008 8:19:14 AM | | I like to watch football, baseball, nascar and the like. Don't want to do any of it all the time. I loved to help my ex rebuild engines and my father change the oil- made me feel liberated I suppose. I am looking for a man who can work on his scooter or his car, can hang sheet rock if needed or fix the plumbing himself. It seems to be difficult around here finding a man I consider self sufficient these days | |
