Well, at least we know the poster has a mirror.
"Evioronmentalist are liberals/Democarats that's no secret, who are also into and support Global hoax the Gorebornots" sigh....yet another no-lobe who, for some bizarre reason, seems to think that the world's climate is actually a political, rather than a scientific issue. File under: WTF?!?!?!
"...are anti anything that has to do with independence and freedom. They want to model this country after the hippies"
Again...WTF?!?!? Any ideas what this means?......Anybody?......

| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 6:22:13 AM | Global warming is a Political hoax to think other wise is simply naive, for something to be scientific it must be proven by science, it's not proven by science and thousands of scientist are signing a petition to expose the lies behind global warming! it simply doesn't exist. Many of these scientist were the same ones who were fooled with false data they believed to be true! Ignorence is bliss some wear it very well
Why even the gulable believed the ICE AGE was coming in the 70's

| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 6:29:16 AM | | Global Warming is so controversial but what bothers me the most is the people who are making billions of dollars off of promoting Global warming.. all one has to do is publish something related to global warming, get on all the talk shows and the money flows in very easily. | |

| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 7:22:23 AM | Ms.Glamour, There are well over 30,000 scientist that disagree with the Gorebots and those who claim Global warming is real...It's politcial and social it has nothing to do with science!
Dr. Art Robinson’s Petition Project (Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine) lists over 31,000 scientists that have signed, rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. 9,021 of the scientists hold PhDs. Covered on May 16, 2008 in the National Post, “32,000 deniers“, by Lawrence Solomon features the history of the Kyoto Protocol and the Petition Project’s objective:
“E-mails started coming in every day,” he explained. “And they kept coming. “ The writers were outraged at the way Al Gore and company were abusing the science to their own ends. “We decided to do the survey again.” Using a subset of the mailing list of American Men and Women of Science, a who’s who of Science, Robinson mailed out his solicitations through the postal service, requesting signed petitions of those who agreed that Kyoto was a danger to humanity. The response rate was extraordinary, “much, much higher than anyone expected, much higher than you’d ordinarily expect,” he explained. He’s processed more than 31,000 at this point, more than 9,000 of them with PhDs, and has another 1,000 or so to go — most of them are already posted on a Web site at petitionproject.org. Why go to this immense effort all over again, when the press might well ignore the tens of thousands of scientists who are standing up against global warming alarmism? “I hope the general public will become aware that there is no consensus on global warming,” he says, “and I hope that scientists who have been reluctant to speak up will now do so, knowing that they aren’t alone.” At one level, Robinson, a PhD scientist himself, recoils at his petition. Science shouldn’t be done by poll, he explains. “The numbers shouldn’t matter. But if they want warm bodies, we have them.”
To read the full text of the petition and more about the project, please visit the Petition Project website. The site also includes the list of signers.
For those who decry Global warming are simply ill informed and need a cause to cry for, Science if it is science agree with the findings! 30,000 plus in way can be considered an agreement!

It's all about money Poco.. Global Warming is becoming a money making machine for those who promote it.. it's a racket I tell ya.

| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 4:32:12 PM | ^^^ Well then, instead of continually posting ill-informed tripe, why don't you instead publish your own sure-to-be-brilliant book about this 'big hoax' of which you speak?
(Hint: Don't forget to cite your sources. And sorry, but your favourite 'source', Faux TV, doesn't count.)

Are you speaking of FOX TV? If so, it should count much more than MSNBC or CNN... since FOX is rated 7 and MSNBC...CNN,.. are down around 27, 28.... (People are catching on to their 'spin' and are obviously watching the 'spin doctors' less and less). You can 'google' for the citation of the ratings.
Makes sense to look to (for sources) the ones which the general Public has the most confidence in. I tend to trust the 'General' Public to know/sense out what is spin and what isn't. See, thing is I don't believe the American Public, in general, are dumb.. I really don't.
Soooo, I like to see FOX quoted... since it is probably the most unbiased.
Isn't it telling that Congress is at record lows since the Dems took over the Majority. We need to clean house with most of Congress... Dems and Reps.
|
| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 6:03:13 PM | | I agree we need to clean house.. there is something definately wrong with the current Majority.. almost two years and the country is in worse shape than before. | |

| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 6:05:03 PM | " Are you speaking of FOX TV? If so, it should count much more than MSNBC or CNN... since FOX is rated 7 and MSNBC...CNN,.. are down around 27, 2" Well, I'm not sure where you're going with that. Last time I checked, 27.2 was w-a-a-a-y above 7. But, even assuming some sort of typo, having more viewers is absolutely NO indication of whether or not a source is credible. In fact, your very use of that factoid merely reinforces my statement. Thanks!!
"Makes sense to look to (for sources) the ones which the general Public has the most confidence in."
Hmmm Let's see. Who's been in the White House for the past 7+ years, allegedly put there because the public has the most confidence in him? Kind of makes your theory look a bit groundless, doesn't it?
"See, thing is I don't believe the American Public, in general, are dumb.. I really don't."
Perhaps they're not. It's just that they got totally jobbed in the past two (s)elections.
"Soooo, I like to see FOX quoted... since it is probably the most unbiased."
'nuff said. | |

| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 7:04:55 PM | Faux News leans so far to the right, that that solid 23% that are still in the dark as to why the other 8 billion people hate Dubya, can't get enough of the only source to tell them what they want to hear. So, that 23% watch religiously.
More than half of the American Public watch American Idol every week. So, with so many viewers, it must be the best show on TV right? So it must produce great talent right? How manhy of them have actually become idols? TV is meant to give you 15 minutes of fame, nothing more. MSNBC is OK, at least they have a balance and try to be fair. KO is pretty liberal, but Scarboro is pretty conservative. Matthews is a moderate, sometimes conservative and sometimes liberal. Russert was liberal, but tough on both sides.
The only people who think Faux is fair are the ones who's ignorance is being continued by watching them.

| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 9:04:19 PM | em....I'm thinking there is no hope for this thread getting back on track, but let's try shall we? Even if I have to tie up Ex to do it!!! Oh wait, that's right he likes it!
So, I'm curious. Many of the posters in this forum are very eager to blame everything that is going wrong in the country on Mr. Bush. The war, the economy, global warning, price of gas, job, immigration, sub prime housing market, but there are 3 branches of the government. Is it really fair to put all the blame at the feet of the president, or is there enough blame to spread around, and if so, why don't I hear more railing out against the legislature and judicial branches?
|
| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/29/2008 9:43:35 PM | | You're right it's not fair to place all the blame on a President .. unless he's a Republican. because Republican Presidents are held to a higher standard and are expected to micro manage markets, oil, etc.. When a Republican President can't get a handle on oil prices, markets.. the economy, then we know that it would be even more hopeless if a Democrat were in charge because the standards are much lower. I think this is why November is going to be so crucial because many of us like Obama but we've seen what happens when Democrats hold the Majority in Congress .. the worst in history..and we're fearful of electing a Democrat President with a Democrat Majority in Congress. | |
|
| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/30/2008 5:15:39 AM | OK, but only if you play nice. So be gentle Barbe
Again, congressional approval is lower for the republican member than the democratic ones. They fear the rhetoric machine of the right. I think we need our own. Talking points have proven to be very effective. Things will change soon. I can't see anything other than a landslide victory, which means a majority in congress and the WH. It should make the difficult task of cleaning up this mess at least possible.
|
| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/30/2008 5:16:57 AM | We need a radical change in how things are done. By electing democrats and republicans to bicker with each other, we kind of insure no one can make changes, they can only work the government machine they are given to operate. The machine is broken. We need someone that is intelligent enough to see the machine is broke and we need intelligent people in congress that will work on things to get done instead of working against the threat of a veto.
The answer is quite simple for those that think the machine should be replaced,
When you get into the booth and pull the curtain, just pull the democratic leaver.
|
| Confidence in Congress at record low Posted: 6/30/2008 7:45:37 AM | I've stayed out of this for the last few days because really there was no way to say anything polite about the level of ignorance and rherotic being tossed about. However this question was actually intelligent so I'll throw back in.
Lets break it down a bit just to keep things clear and honest.
The war. Its all Bush and the NeoCons there is no room for debate or discussion of this intelligently. However Congress should not have a free pass for an absolute dereliction of duty in abdicating their constitutional duty to declare war and maintain the focus of that war. I seperate these issues because saddly in the glare of the aftermath of the attack of 911 few people were going to be able to stand up against the president and say no. Instead they acted like sheep and tried to give away that responsibility. At some point in future the question will have to come back if the Constitution which very clearly separates the powers allows the congress to do what it did.
The economy. It is a shared responsibility between congress and the President but its failure is largely a result of Republican "hands off" and "privatize everything" mentality. The capitalist system was never meant to be unregulated for many reasons we are experiencing most of those reasons now.
Global climate change. Largely the President for putting scientists on the back burner and political naysayers/yesmen in charge to present garbage to him and to the public. However congress also has much blame to bear for not mandating research on getting us off fossil fuels, and other green tech.
Price of gas completely the President and the republican side of congress for continuing to bury their heads in the sand *literally*. The ONLY way to reduce dependence on foreign oil is to remove dependence on oil altogether something we should have been doing for years but the big business that fund the parties are afraid of losing their strangleholds. Drilling is not the answer and everyone who actually has a lick of intelligence knows it.
Job immigration for once is really not much of the president.. this one. Saddly Clinton and NAFTA bear a huge burden of responsibility which means Congress and a former president are at fault for this one. However it has been aggravated by the lack of regulation oversight or desire to be responsible in congress. There are numerous ways to fix this problem if congress wanted to.
Sub Prime Congress bears the fault and again mostly the Republicans for their hands off mentality. Deregulating the banks was directly responsible for this mess.
As for the Judicial branch... it saddly has been in Decline since the 2000 decision that gave Bush his Presidency. And the Roberts court has no legitimacy other then as a puppet of the President and the GOP.

Absolutely untrue and ludicrous.... In 1995 Billy vetoed a Bill presented to him by a Congress that would allow drilling at home and take away the dependence of foriegn oil! Billy said no! It's estimated that we have more untapped oil in our ground to surpass that of Saudi Canada and Mexico maybe even the entire middle east! That was 13 years ago, we would have had an ample supply of oil today had the bill passed, and alternative fuels could have been being worked on instead of us depending on oil from everywhere but home! Furthermore the Democratic Congress is very anti Capitalism..their for Socialism which has never worked! This country was built on Capitalism not Socialism!
Industry built this country not Government.....yet Government has managed to run many US corps to foriegn lands because of their outragous taxs and regulations! The people make the money here not the Government...the Government just jacks it to grow bigger Government! Then convinces the uninformed it's for their benefit!
This is why "The New Congress" has a record low approval rating! 11-14% maybe 18% on a good week! and the man they blame for everything has nearly triple that in approval ratings! How's that work?

First of all, when is the last time you had to wait in line for gas? You know, like for an hour or two. . . Late 1970s! There is no shortage of gasoline. . .
Second, since when 23% three times 18%? No wonder you have a hard time understanding my posts.

When you learn to actually research and not echo and parrot party lines I'll be happy to debate you for now this is the last time I will humor your posts.

No it is absolutely true and rational it's only people without the ability to reason for themselves that are unable to understand this. Oil is a limited resource it is not spontaneously generated it is created over a period of hundreds of years from organic matter under immense pressure and specific conditions. It will run out, and there is more of it "out there" then in all the territory controlled by the US. It simply does not matter if we drill here or there or anywhere this problem will not go away unless we remove our dependence on it. At best we can offset it for a small period of years.
In 1995 Billy vetoed a Bill presented to him by a Congress that would allow drilling at home and take away the dependence of foriegn oil! Billy said no! rightfully so get this through your head oil is limited. We are better off not using our own oil if you want to be clinical until all other sources are tapped if we are going to continue to be dependant on oil.
t's estimated that we have more untapped oil in our ground to surpass that of Saudi Canada and Mexico maybe even the entire middle east!
No actually it isn't. I would love for you to produce a credible source but that would be pointless. The simple fact of the matter is while we may have a few large sources it comes no where near the amount to make it a solution. The only solution is to remove our dependence on oil.
Furthermore the Democratic Congress is very anti Capitalism..their for Socialism which has never worked! This country was built on Capitalism not Socialism!
Actually this is completely untrue. This country was built on Representative Democracy. The Constitution specifically afforded commerce no rights and the power and responsibility to regulate commerce to every level and branch of government. It was a very specific decision. If you had ever studied your history you would know that our forefathers were fighting the most powerful Corporation in history as well as King George. This country was built with the understanding that Capitalism was a good and efficient method to run the economy but that it must never be left to its own devices.
Industry built this country not Government..
In point of fact this is patently false. Before there was industry to support this nation there was only the will of the people to govern themselves. In other words government built this country and inspired industry. Not the other way around.
Government has managed to run many US corps to foriegn lands because of their outragous taxs and regulations!
Again patently false many US corps have taken advantage of loopholes in regulations and tax laws to cheat the government and the people. Such rewards have given us poisoned toys, pet food, toothpaste, shoddy products, and a poisioned enviornment. All of which has only been possible because government has removed tariffs on foreign products. If we restored them you would find most of those "fleeing businesses" flee back.
The people make the money here not the Government...the Government just jacks it to grow bigger Government! Then convinces the uninformed it's for their benefit! No the uninformed just fight tooth and nail to have other people think for them because its easier to believe then to be responsible.
This is why "The New Congress" has a record low approval rating! 11-14% maybe 18% on a good week! and the man they blame for everything has nearly triple that in approval ratings! How's that work?
Actually the worst congress in history was the 2006 congress and congressional opinion has been falling steadly since 2004. The fact is this new congress's low opinion is just a function of the people being disillusioned by all establishment including religion.

...To remove the African National Congress from treatment as a terrorist organization for certain acts or events, provide relief for certain members of the African National Congress regarding admissibility, and for other purposes.
(a) Exemption Authority...shall not apply to an alien with respect to activities undertaken in association with the African National Congress in opposition to apartheid rule in South Africa.
Sense of Congress ... to exempt the anti-apartheid activities of aliens who are current or former officials of the Government of the Republic of South Africa.
REMOVAL OF CERTAIN AFFECTED INDIVIDUALS FROM CERTAIN UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT DATABASES
...shall take all necessary steps to ensure that databases used to determine admissibility to the United States are updated so that they are consistent with the exemptions provided
How do you feel about your congress now? Isn't it wonderful that they have the ability to write these stipulations into law?

While you all are here arguing about why confidence in Congress is low here's what's been going on. Here's what's been going on that's important to the American people..
1. Gas prices are skyrocketing even though Democrats vowed to lower gas prices 2 years ago.
2. The Iraq War did not end even though Democrats vowed to end the War two years ago.
They not only hold the record for the worst Majority in Congress they have also lost all credibility.
