rubber seal At this point, I don't think you know what part is wearing out? Have you already taken it apart to see if there is a rubber seal? As said before, my guess is that you have already damaged the brass, and it won't be repairable. Replacement may be your only solution. But the shutoff valve on the inside of the house, is actually a wonderful thing you could do, with not much effort. i.e. if you know how to solder pipe.

In many cases you can replace the brass seat with an inexpensive tool. The brass seat usually has slots the tool, which is tapered, fits into so you can unscrew it. Most faucets can be repaired with replacement parts if the housing is good. Depending on the type you may want to repack the stem which often leaks after time. I've always found its best to tear a faucet apart before making the trip to the hardware store and take all the parts to make sure you get the right ones to fix it.

Using a microfiber towel makes windows and glass SOOOOOO much easier. I use Invisible Glass and you can find it auto stores.

Okay...my toilet seat needs to be replaced desperately and it's not just a regular ole round one, it's a long oval oblong kinda thing. My ex was a plumber so the toilet came from what he called a "supply house"?? How do I know what size to get and how in the world does it come off and go back on and before you answer...please note I have always been a very visual person and those answers up above sure sounded like a foreign language to me and no I cannot afford to hire someone....so be gentle with me.... pleeeze

| Useful things to know and knowledge to share Posted: 6/23/2008 10:49:08 AM | Here is a cool tip that id gotten via an email: If you have those floor heating vents, put a fabric softener sheet under the vent (leave a small corner of the sheet sticking out) and when you use your heat or your central air, your house will smell so nice!! Also, keep one of those plastic grocery bags next to your dryer and save your used fab softener sheets and use those to dust instead of using old rags and having to buy furniture polish.
Re: the leaking faucet: Not sure if a shower faucet is the same as a sink faucet but,,,,some time ago i had a leaking shower faucet and to fix that, i had to to replace a rubber gasket inside of it. I guess in time they do wear out so that may be your culprit.

When you do laundry some of the salt will dissolve which is supposed repel the roots.

OHH.. and IF the bolts that hold the seat down are all metal.. have fun. they rust on and its a bear to get off. I had a b/f change my last seat. and he was about in tears trying to get the bolts off. So.. i ve since replaced those with the nylon bolts.
