There are many spermicide's on the market! Have a dialogue with your OBGYN - they can direct you to one that is the most effective and condusive to your age and health! .

Spermicides on their own are pretty ineffective. You have to use them with a condom and/or a diaphragm.

Leeanne, How do you, in a nonchalont way, excuse yourself from the cuddle to go to the bathroom and do this?

How does your man nonchalontly put on his condom ?
There are some very easy to use - quickly inserted types on the market! Why not have your partner do it for you?

The Mirena has a synthetic progestin and is more expensive. It helps a woman with heavy bleeding.

Not necessarily. It can help some women with this problem or it can make it worse. A woman won't know til she tries one. I tried it and had a four month long period and constant cramping.

OP if your friend is certain she doesn't want more children then a tubal might be a good way to go. She should talk over the options with her doc.

1missblueeyes you are 24 so I am sure you are worried about fertility women who are 45 and older are most likely not worried about that .. and wrong the new oral contraceptives out are not as unhealthy as just ten years ago , in fact even though my tubes are tied to help me with more regular periods and control of them I was given a low dose contraceptive to control that and I am 41 .

And comment on VASECTOMY If i had been in a really long term relationship with a man such as being married sure might consider vasectomy , but if we are just dating no id never ask him such a thing .

1missblueeyes, contrary to your apparent assumption i don't just blindly trust what my doctor prescribes. unlike many people i do my own research whenever i put medicines and hormones into my body, and i can assure you that the information i've researched (google and do a bit of investigation online) from reputable medical sources supports what i've said. your gyne may prefer to be cautious, but given the information i've reviewed she may be over-cautious. so unless you are a doctor yourself or have specific medical studies to quote and support your assertation, consider your doctor's opinion simply an opinion. sometimes doctors disagree even with common medical consensus, and they have the right to that opinion...however that opinion does not negate the research and evidence and should (like all opinions) be taken with a grain of salt.
