So what's the point? A couple of Fox attack dogs go after a couple of NYT reporters that have made it their mission to attack Fox at every opportunity. So what? It was a joke piece people. Have you ever heard a "joke" before? Obviously, you've never watched the end of the show hosted by Brit Hume. Some people need to check the eBay listings and see if anyone is selling a sense of humor.

Posted: 7/3/2008 9:41:45 PM | Today at the gym I was watching Fox news and I noticed that they spent allot of time focusing on some jazz singer that was hired to sing the national anthem at some game, but sang the black national anthem instead. At the same time MSNBC and CNN (Lou Dobbs and Anderson 360 CNN of course) had nothing to say about the issue, they were busy discussing whether Obama and McCain both flip flop too much to please the voters and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

HISTORY
"Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" — often called "The Negro National Hymn" or "The Black National Anthem" — was written as a poem by James Weldon Johnson (1871–1938) and then set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johnson (1873–1954) in 1900.
"Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" was first performed in public in Jacksonville, Florida as part of a celebration of Lincoln's Birthday on February 12, 1900 by a choir of 500 schoolchildren at the segregated Stanton School, where James Weldon Johnson was principal.
Singing this song quickly became a way for African Americans to demonstrate their patriotism and hope for the future. In calling for earth and heaven to "ring with the harmonies of Liberty," they could speak out subtly against racism and Jim Crow laws—and especially the huge number of lynchings accompanying the rise of the Ku Klux Klan at the turn of the century. In 1919, the NAACP adopted the song as "The Negro National Anthem." By the 1920s, copies of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" could be found in black churches across the country, often pasted into the hymnals.

we had a good run with it ~ and it's worth your review ~ I learned alot and much valuable information came forward ~ plus it drew in the Fox Watcher ~ which was who I wanted to investigate, attempting to understand why they had such a strong appetite for twisted facts and a strong hatred for moderates and zero tolerance for desending viewpoints. ~ What make them tick ?~ they clearly approach us as the enemy yet we shouldn't be, we agree on much ~ but it's all a big " word game" they play ~ and they feel they have high ground sitting in that ivory tower so long ~ I suppose.
It's presently dead ~ A gent named Tim ~ attacked and attacked ~ and we got off topic too often and it ~ just finally stoped ~ pissing contest rarly reach lofty goals.
Don't allow that to happen to your thread.
Faith thanks for sharing all this information about "the Negro National Anthem"
I enjoyed the piece ~ and understand that in came from a "place in time" when hope waned ~ and hardships were many.
The "true to our native land" part will be baggage however ~ in the "now" ~ today ~ I think it will cause conserns that will distract us all from our goals.
I personally take that to mean Africa ~ and think many others will at well.
Africa, like Ireland and Germany ~ comes under foriegn affairs ~ for we are now all Americans, one nation and one people. We must work to make that so, in word and deed.
We need to be careful what we give people to think about, they will beat you up with that !

I still can't believe how anyone can get so worked up over a couple of photos that were done as a JOKE and act holier than thou when discussing how one network is so biased they should be shut down.
Listen up folks, EVERY single network is biased in one way or another. If they don't lean to the right, they lean to the left. Some lean WAY to the right and others lean WAY to the left. There is not one single network or newspaper in this country, or world for that matter, that could be accused of being right down the middle.
And if you don't like what you are hearing from one network, take a look behind yourselves. I doubt you will see anyone with a gun to your head, forcing you to watch or listen to a network you don't agree with. That remote control that men so jealously guard can be used to change the channel.
Let the right voice their opinions and let the left voice their opinions and let the voters go to the polls in November. But, if I hear one more whiny little pansy crying about doctored pictures or faked National Guard documents or "I was a Vietnam hero," I'm going to puke my lunch all over this thread.

How many more conservative shows can this network ad? Fox is sooooooooooo in the tank for the republican agenda and it just keeps getting more and more one sided with each conservative hosting another show. The lie is simply them beating that marketing slogan of fair and balanced where its not even close anymore.
Oreilly is always counting how many liberals are at a paper or news station and saying how unfairly balanced it is. Why doesn't he count all the conservatives flooding Fox news and what that ratio is to liberals on there. He's the biggest hypocrit on TV. And for all the conservatives who say well all the other news networks are biased, NONE of them blatantly advertise they are fair and balanced. Thats where Fox loses credibility because if thats not false advertisement I don't know what is.
And yes I think Msnbc is biased towards the left, but do you ever hear them claiming how fair and balanced they are, answer NO. | |

If I wanted to see agruments from both sides I would probably watch Fox rather than the other 5-6.. which I watched for years and was inundated with pro Democratic rhetoric.. finally I gave up all television news altogether and I'm a better person for it. | |

"FAUX NEW NETWORK", with the same emblems Fox News is famous for.
The whole "no-spin zone" is clearly spinning, lately. It took me a while to understand the difference between the various news program formats.
I recently noticed how CNN ran a lengthy bio on MCSame, even though many still claim them to be a liberal media outlet, so i'M GOING to find contention to that accusation. I find disagreement in the comparisons of those two networks. CNN doesn't have flame reporting, where they ask a dignitary to be on the show, and then bring in some hired gun to try and shoot down their arguments. Fox news is such a disgrace because they do anything to keep swaying the naive puppets who follow right wing mindthought.
My thoughts are as Hillary warned; Republican politics are rolling round the bowl and down the hole. They may be politically extinct in a few years, and "right"ly SO. | |

In the current national poll, just 19.6% of those surveyed could say they believe all or most news media reporting. This is down from 27.4% in 2003. Just under one-quarter, 23.9%, in 2007 said they believe little or none of reporting while 55.3% suggested they believe some media news reporting.
“The fact that an astonishing percentage of Americans see biases and partisanship in their mainstream news sources suggests an active and critical consumer of information in the U.S.” stated James Castonguay, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of SHU’s Department of Media Studies & Digital Culture. “The availability of alternative viewpoints and news sources through the Internet no doubt contributes to the increased skepticism about the objectivity of profit-driven news outlets owned by large conglomerates,” he continued.
The perception is growing among Americans that the news media attempts to influence public opinion – from 79.3% strongly or somewhat agreeing in 2003 to 87.6% in 2007.
And, 86.0% agreed (strongly or somewhat) that the news media attempts to influence public policies – up from 76.7% in 2003.
“Americans know bias and imbalance when they see it and they don’t like it. When most service organizations strive for consumer satisfaction ratings in the high eighties to low nineties, an overall positive rating of 40.7% is dismal,” said Jerry C. Lindsley, director of the Sacred Heart University Polling Institute. He added, “Americans know that it’s just not that hard to present both sides and keep personal bias at home.”
