I am anti Pre meet, having thought about and seen it's effects on others meets, I have never done had one, and never intend too ... All it leads to is a group of people getting twatted before turning up at the venue, which is not what I would want to see at my meets at the start of the night.. It also leads to a "Click" with the Host walking in regaled by its entourage, tut tut.. Let everyone meet at the same time, on the same level, and enjoy the night together, whether it be getting drunk through the course of the night, or just talking .. Besides would it not be nice to actually remember who is at the meet.. Technically a hosts job is done once the venue has been secured, the thread created and questions answered.. It is nice if they make the effort to say hello to their guests, and introduce those that have been brave enough to come alone, to others, but it's no great sweat, unless you chose to make it.. Badges are great if the members want to wear them, Sam's idea is a good one, but that is down to personal choice and all it requires is a roll of sticky labels that can be written by the members if they so wish .. The members make the night, the host is merely another attendee..

How about we print or draw a fish on every label? No name, just a fish so WE all know we're fishes... then we could colour the fish as Sam's suggested (what colour's intimate encounter lol?!!! Scarlet?!!) and leave marker pens so IF people want to reveal their names on the badge they can write either their real first name or their POF name on themselves!

It's always a good idea to email others who are going, just to introduce yourself. That way, you'll have spoken with some of those at the venue, so you'll have someone to talk to at the start of the evening.

e.g. One that works quite well for getting people up on the dance floor is the "snowball" track. Starting with just one or two people on the dance floor the DJ shouts "SNOWBALL!", those on the dance floor must then dash off and find a new partner (who isn't yet dancing) to dance with. After just four or five "snowballs" you've got sixty or so people dancing. Do you know what the term snowball means? best you check it out, it may be fun
