Why dont shop assistants help pack shopping anymore?
Posted: 6/29/2008 8:56:23 AM
They always ask the same question 'if i would like her/him to help'

My reply always the same 'And how much should i pay you for that?!'

Sometimes she/he would reply 'No.. Its free'

Tut. (You kidding me?)

@42:

I'm sure tesco would save a fortune and quite a few landfills if they trained their home delivery packers to pack stuff appropriately. When you get one or two things in a bag its kind of ridiculous.

Tesco have a bagless option for home delivery - so no bags at all involved.
And since the chap will quite happily wheel the trolly straight into my kitchen, then unpack the crates onto the table as a frantically stuff everything into the appropriate cupboard, it works fine for me. (Not only that, but because I get the same driver about 3 times out of 5, he's even started unpacking things the way I store them!)

In addition, if you already have carrier bags when they deliver, they'll take them away for recycling for you.

Good job their home delivery operation is so good, 'cause despite being one of the biggest retailers in the country, their stores are shocking.

What are ya moaning about, OP? They still offer to pack in Asda. I refuse their offer & pack my shopping myself. It's quicker.

They're busy enough adding up your shopping bill as fast as they can. You've got 2 hands haven't you? Lazy arse.

I would rather have the assistant speed through my shopping at the till, & I can pack it myself in half the time.

Do you want the shop assistant to spend the time adding up your shopping bill, & then spend even more time putting it in your bags for you whilst you stand there like a spare part.
