This NASA guy is not paid by NASA to do this.

He is paid by Environmentalist groups for his work - - his statements - - - his PR.

HE is making a lot of money with his speeches and donations. - - - -

The Kerry foundation provided him a $660K research grant a few years ago for the area of 2 or 3 years work. Gets money from other sources also.

They love that he can say he is with NASA.

It is crazy this hype about global warming and the miss information and restriction of information - - - - Mars has gotten warmer also - - - - this can not be effected by what we do on earth.

The sun is a great big heater - - The sun has cycles, it was in a warm cycle a few years ago and now has settled back down and the earths temperatures have settled back down. and have shown no increase since 98, in fact have shown a cooling trend.

The Earth is amazing .

If it were not for a constant law of balance , the Earth would have burned up or frozen over or spun out of orbit a long long time ago , or any one of a million other radical imbalances would have made the Earth unable to support life.

For every action there is an opposite reaction that keeps the earth in an almost miraculous balance and stability . This is not only true for the Earth , but , it is also true for entire solar system, galaxy , and the universe around us.
It's an infinately complicated system that is far beyond human comprehension.
It's almost as if it is the hand of a higher power at work .

But , regardless , and in keeping strictly to the RATIONAL , this balance is indisputable by the fact that we are still here and NOT TOAST .

Well ~ at the moment "this great big heater" ~ is melting our snowcone and we are experiencing problems and issues all over the globe. ~ Space Ship earth is presently home to more living souls then ever before by the pure nature of mans joy of pretty women.

So we need less pretty women or better accomidations as we experience this shift in climate. It appears that at the present rate there is going to be a large displacment of people.

So pull out the Fulton bed ~ some of us are going to have unexpected company over.
and if this "natural cycle" continues ~~ say a hundred or so years ~ you can expect other changes ~ that "do not" pale in compairson.

But don't worry ~ you won't live long enough for it to be much of an inconvence for you. ~ Just keep some factor 60 sunscreen handy and contributing to your 401 K plan ~ and your major medical caught up. You can stay at home and watch is all start to unfold as you set back in your lazyboy, watching the TV between your feet. Martha! has the Meals of Wheels man parked where the oxygen man can't get in?

It'll be like watching things unfold in New Orleans during Katrina ~ ~ silly people ~ live near the sea ~ in a hole no less! ~ what do they expect?~

Good thing us Hobbits are safe here in the Shire! ~ They could be like us~ it was their choice.

Why do global warming advocates seem to view humanity as some sort of problem that is needing to be solved ?
I find that to be an extremely pessimistic morbid worldview. Not to mention it's just plain false.
If the sky is falling , it's only because we have so many chicken littles on this earth.

Not only is "global warming" an arrested development socialist myth , but , world population is headed for decline with birth rates in a downward spiral and the population aging. And it's no wonder , with so much negativity in the world.

Yea! going extinct can't be "all" bad!

Some people really seem to get excited with the small suff!

Think about it ~ no more being cut off in traffic, having to wash dishes or clean house or mow the yard! ~ No more haircuts or balancing your check book. ~ Board suffing off the Kansas coast, Deep sea fishing in Arizonia.

I'm not going to waste my time trying to change a thing ~ I might be required to spend some money or worse yet `~ be wrong! ~ My worst fear is ~ somebody might getting something that they don't deserve. It offends my sense of fairness.

And why should decisions be made ? ~ I perfer to ~ appear to make decisions only to please others ~ while things remain the same. We like the same ! Vote for Mc Same!

One of the first Republican Slogans was, "Get a Horse!"

And I'm called a republican ~ memeber of the Grand Old Party ~ I resist change at all cost, I only gamble with other people's money ~~ not my own! Only from my cold dieing hand will you get my dollar or attention.

I make up a whopping 30 % of the voting public. ~

purly commentary ~ Dance

I choose to believe scientists like Derek Kelly over scam artists like Al Gore and his cohorts. Kelly's publication of "A Chronology of Climate Change" summarizes how I see things.

<div class="quote">During most of the last billion years the Earth did not have permanent ice sheets. Nevertheless, at times large areas of the globe were covered with vast sheets of ice. Such times are known as glaciations. In the past 2 million to 3 million years, the temperature of the Earth has changed (warmed or cooled) at least 17 times, some say 33, with glaciations that last about 100,000 years interrupted by warm periods that last about 10,000 years.

His work can be found at: http://www.globalwarming.nottinghamshiretimes.co.uk/Scam.html

I respect the opinions of those who follow the scare tactics of Gore. The world would not be complete without all of our opinions.

I believe the miracle of life on earth is spiritual in origin and will continue. In spite of all the pessimissim I still see lots of food in the grocery stores. I see the crops in the fields growing abundantly and healthy livestock grazing peacefully. The rain, at least where I live, always seems to fall when we need it.
However, I think maybe we should stop testing the resilience of the earth by driving more fuel efficient cars and driving them less; no doubt the high price of fuel may finally force this notion upon us.
I know I'll be called a crackpot for suggesting this, but I believe that human strife can cause disturbance in the weather. If nations try negotiation instead of armed assaults the result may even be felt in fairer weather. "Ye are gods" Jesus said. And so we are. Little bits of God, each and every one of us. The sooner we show respect for one another that is due a god, even those who need guidance (not to waste away in incarceration) the sooner things will go better for us all.

Of all the arguments for or against one that gets pulled out that makes no sense is

We have only been studying the weather on Mars for 15 years. Lots of data to go by, especially that the Martian year is two of ours. It is funny we can figure out the long term climate on Mars in that time with a couple of satellites and yet we can not figure out what is happening here with all the data over the length of time we have been watching it.

what if Global warming is real? What if we in act all of the laws they say we should inact? Where will it end? What will our world look like at the end? Whose Ideology benefits most from these laws?

Why is there always some great crisis that requires us to lose more freedoms or need more laws passed in order to protect us? Since I've been born there have been many crisises , many led to laws. Some just led to a state of wonder.

I was born in 1972 since then we have had the following threats

1. communism
2. Nuclear war
3. over population
4 global poverty and famine
5. AIDS
6. asteroids
7. aliens
8. global terrorism
9 global drug trade
10 Massive earthquakes
11. massive tidal waves
12 mad cow disease
13 avian flu
14 the year 2000 computer glitch
15 economic collapse threats
16 socialism
17 facism
18 racism
19 over fishing
20 ozone layer
21 comets
22. Global cooling
23. Global Warming.
etc. etc.. etc. We are still here. I'm tired of waiting. I say Bring it on!

Give it enought time and sooner or later that callous attitude will result in devastation from any number of the above. They are all real threats and perhaps even some of them are unfolding (slowly) as we type.

If you did you would know that it isn't the politicians who are "feeding us all the crap" its the scientific community that has come to these conclusions.

Who's financing this research?

I agree with JamesP166.

Most likely, it is all about MONEY. If you can convince the populace to jump on board and be willing to subscribe to a 'environmental' tax, you have more money (i.e. revenue) and it's easier to shove money to groups who supposedly do research.

I'm not going to say that there is no man-made carbon or greenhouse gases but the other camp assert that many of the processes and current situation was inevitable and 'normal.' However, the most important point or question is whether people can make enough of a significant difference. If you decrease greenhouse gases by 1%, is that enough? The point is, can people do enough to mean anything?

Secondly, you have countries such as China saying 'go F*** yourself' and refusing to cut emissions significantly, heck, even countries who subscribe to major environmental 'revolutions' claiming or admitting that the targets are impossible or at best, unlikely. So, what are you going to do? Do you own part but some of those changes don't have to be major concessions. Simply, supporting better recycling, different decisions when buying a new vehicle (going for a 4-cyl. over a gas guzzler or choosing a hybrid over a sports car etc. etc.) and other changes that could contribute to small but changes nonetheless. Governments claim that people can only solve things by giving more money but aren't committed to doing their own part. It's easy to tax and blame but much more easier to lie and deceive. That way, they can justify things when the economy goes into the sh***er by saying they had to make sacrifices and serious decisions that caused financial problems. It's a way of avoiding responsibility and blame.

wow. I just read somewhere that the ecological system is actually IMPROVING and the hole in the ozone layer is getting smaller. Just because some guy works for NASA doesnt mean he or anyone else can truly predict the future.

With that in mind, we also need to understand most of our ecological destiny is predetermined. Thats based on the farmers almanac and patterns in weather change over the past 100 yrs in this country. Indeed there is change afoot and mother nature is reclaiming and reshaping our world, but then again she always is.

It cracks me up on a dating site of all things though how one could be so judgmental towards another to the point of outright rudeness and being mean. Such a small meaningless world some of the users here must live in if the two most impoprtant parts of their day are going to a protest after sorting their trash at home or attacking someone else's character on the internet. I wonder how much of a "punk" certain people on here would be if this conversation were in person.

The moral of this story is that you can recycle, protest, write a letter, and attack a defenseless computer screen all in one day BUT.... until you respect other people and their opinions, changing the world wont matter because youre still acting like an ape making it an awful place in your own special way.

Get a life. Enjoy it. Never take for granted one breath... this whole thing is a gift from a higher power and you cant stop it no matter how many letters you write.

Peace. :)

Let's pose a question.
How many kids do you have?
If you answer more than two, then you are part of the problem.
More people equals more energy spent and more pollution/gasses.

Now, if the glaciers are melting, where is all this water going?
I don't see our oceans rising.
So who's bullshitting who here?

Quit ****ing and live as green a life as you can for the future generations.

NASA is a government agency ...you know the government ? ... the one that spends the peoples hard earned money like there's no tomorrow and is always looking for more , anyway it can , even if it has to create a big phoney environmental cri$is to legitimise it's ever increasing taxing and controlling every aspect of the peoples lives agenda ?

So ....I think you must have mis-typed ...
That should read $250.00 per slice .

Yes Im fully aware of that, Im also fully aware of the fact that the Earth has had at least three mass extinctions, that means that pretty much everything died on the Earth, its common place. Just trying to put a stopper on our Mass Extinction. It might be worth it for us to stop glutonous consumption so that the human species continues to be a part of the cosmos.... are not considering some of the posts in this line!

Hey! I know! We could all wear hemp clothing, Give our private property to the Government, and sit around on hillsides chanting "HOPE" "CHANGE" "PEACE", Like zombies. Then, we could all hold hands and sing "We are the World! We are the children". Then, we could all go back to our grass huts, and eat gruel. Because, lets face it we must have equality. Oh! And we could save the world while we are at it! Yes! that's right save the world. I almost forgot that part!

Human history is the only history that is applicable to us,...in this regard,....

It doesn't really matter how many extintion events that there have been on this planet,....

The only thing that should matter to us is,....
are we headded for another one,...and how can we

A) help prevent it,...if that's within our power to do,....

and

B) ****CAN WE SURVIVE AS A SPECIES,*****

many of us won't,....but on the brighter side if this does come to pass,...
and the sheit literally hits the fan,...we will be too busy with B) to continue stupid wars,...

well,...I can still hope!

PS here are some sites where you can read and watch clips on the possible melting of the northern polar cap total melt this summer,....
