| Packing on the first date Posted: 6/29/2008 12:37:47 PM | hi laughinglibra....crazy thread topic eh? as crazy as it may sound some people here in pa are members of rod and gun clubs. if their date is interested in shooting a gun who knows....people can change their minds at a split second and decide to go to a range. now, if i go cross state lines and i have my gun with me it's always split up....bullets, unloaded clip, and the gun in separate areas. i'm licensed to carry here in pa and not another state....but then again, i'm able to get my license to carry nationwide if i really wanted to apply for it. yeah yeah i know, when i visit canada i have to leave my gun at home but i'll still have my license with me.
shick...there's always an officer around when you need one??? where???? (looking in all directions) up here we have the keystone cops, you know...ummm, barney and andy? some towns in the northern region of pa only have 2 part time cops and they're never on duty. hell, last year the bank was robbed here in ringtown....the robber was in the little restaurant across from the bank, had lunch (or breakfast), was talking to everyone (like any other person would do in a small town), paid his bill, walked across the street and robbed the bank. was there a cop on duty? nope, only the state police and it takes time for them to get there unless it's an officer down/assist call.
normally, i won't take my gun out with me unless i'm out in my own car. you never know when i have it, never know when i don't. if i'm going out on a date and taking my own car they never know that i have it unless the topic should arise in conversation about going to a range. it really sucks for me now since i don't take my gun out with me....no car so i won't carry. oh, my license is not a ccw permit...it's a license to carry for sport/protection. oh, no one knows when i have my knife with me either...lol. never know when you're gonna need that...even for the most dumbest reasons.
thank god i'm a city girl.................turned country!!!
oh and just in case you're wondering......i haven't been out on a date where the guys were all piled up in the back up a beat up looking pick up truck screaming and waving guns in the air while the girls are in the cab, even though that sounds like it can be fun!
oh, and umm dave....you're right...it's not the gun that kills people it's the person behind the gun. if there's no trust in a person, packing or not, then there's not going to be any trust.

ynshick sorry you are taking this on the chin with the personal attacks. This thread has 247 views and 24 posts. Two simple questios. Not just for males, I 'm sure there are females who carry......It is not about the poster....
1/ When I did carry, yes I carried on first dates...
2/ Would not bother me at all.
Congrats on your comprehension skills and thank you for actually answering the question. Unlike miss 13, strawbs08, laughinglibra, and especially guys4theforums, who seem to think **yosemite sam voice **I'm the rootinest-tootinest-gun shootinest hombre north south east aaaaaand west of the pecos! **/yosemite sam voice **
Oh, and guys4theforums, If you start from the right spots in Onterio and Australia, it will put me nicely in Hawaii (which is an open carry state)

| Packing on the first date Posted: 6/30/2008 8:56:14 PM | Wow... my apologies to those that carry... jjjjj, countrygirl... and probably more that I've missed.
I guess I just don't understand the necessity of carrying a firearm. Must be the whole Canadian thing I got goin' on!
Just a different mindset I have grown up with and the idea of openly carrying firearms is not something I've had to deal with. I am not scared of guns, I've gone hunting (even managed to bring down an 8 point buck, tyvm!) and to shooting ranges.... it just seems weird to me to carry one out in public.
I guess it would take a lot of getting used to.... and honestly, it would probably still bother me to know a guy I was on a first date with was carrying... to me (and this is strictly my opinion and not meant for anyone else) having a gun at hand is just opening the door for trouble. Again, that is strictly my humble opinion.
Aren't differences what make the world a wonderful place?

| Packing on the first date Posted: 6/30/2008 10:27:47 PM | great going with the 8pt buck laughinglibra...maybe you should come stateside and show some guys here how to hunt. there's no need to apologize to me.....not all countries area alike. if you think pa is bad....nyc isn't so nice...not in brooklyn, queens, or the bronx from what i've been told. violence is everywhere....regardless of the city, state, or even country. some places it's just not as bad as others.
hmmm, i wonder how my friend mike would feel when he comes here and knowing i have a gun and license to carry. he's from toronto. he and i were talking about him coming here to meet, stay for a week or so and when i'm able to i'm going to go to toronto to meet his daughter and ex wife (personal reasons) then drive to london to see my best friends (former pof members that are tying the knot this coming weekend).
differences of laws and such does make the world go 'round. my friend was telling me about if a smoker is caught smoking in a car with a child(ren) under the age of 16 they're getting hit with a fine around $250 per child. he told me that it varies in different provinces. now that's something i'm going to have to get used to as well....he also said that you're not allowed to smoke in public places.
oh and laughinglibra...if you can teach me how to chamber my semi automatic with the full use of 1 hand/arm only then i'll be really happy. i don't want a guy to try to teach me since some of them can be too vicious and hot headed.
