"I wouldn't have sex with a woman with tatoos"

"Good, I don't like sharing 'em"

Call 911 after you leave and tell 'em a older man is having a heart attack in the store...

OP,
Bottom line is the guy was openly sharing his opinion. If you took offense at his opinion, that means you took his opinion personally. Why? It's his opinion, he's entitled to it and has the right to voice it. And tra la la who the heck cares... Does his opinion really matter to you? It really shouldn't. If you say he shouldn't express his opinions...he really should just keep them to himself, then you need to apply that same rule to yourself. Which you obviously do not because you are here in a forum voiceing your opinion on the matter. The whole "right to believe whatever your want" is a double edged sword, ain't it....

laugh it off next time...

What would your reply have been??

I can't type like that here!!

~OP~ I got my first tatt at 36 and my next at 38. The last one was with mother, who got her first at 58. Guess that old fart should shut his trap and get in tune with the 21st Century. I can pretty safely say, my Mother wouldn't have had sex with that mind-set and I certainly have no inclination to mess with those who judge me or others by a little ink. (Funniest part, no one would guess I have them and they aren't small ~ my Mother, HA!! the epitome of no-tatts...just goes to show, you can't judge that which you don't truly know!)

I say report it. You missed your opportunity to be quick witted. But this still bothers you. Take action and leave it alone
As with all things you can choose the high road or the low road.
You can tell him to F off next time if you want to. Or you could tell him what a shame for him. He doesn't know what he missed. Us tattooed freaks screw like rabbits.

Why was that comment rude? It's a known stereotype for people to think you're crazy and wild and thats why you have a tattoo. We as consumers accept that we may be typecast if we decide to get art on our bodies and go through with it anyway.

I think your reaction to his comment is just completely uncalled for. I know as a person with tattoos it's common place to be approached about your body art. You could have just smiled and continued your transaction instead of instigating the situation further.

LOL.....Well my sarcastic side would of gave him the name of the shop I got the tattoo at and told him they do wonders in covering up age spots too as I would never have sex with someone who had a few of those showing........but he would have to live with being rude seeing how ya can't teach an old man new tricks...
I can relate to your experience...being 6'1 and well built I get so many off the wall comments from guys who think I give a rats a$$ about what they think about my height or rack!!!!!! I was at the store once and a guy at the next till was staring at my breasts so hard I felt naked.......my cell rang and when my friend said where are you I replied..AT SAFEWAY AND SOME GUY WITH A BLUE SHIRT ON IS LOOKING AT MY BOOBS LIKE THEY ARE HIS LUNCH!!!!!!! Well he looked away and everyone had a comment to make about his actions.......no one more then the woman he was in line with!!!!!!!!!

Just seems to me like he was trying to make conversation, which most good clerks do. Better than just standing there while no one says anything.

I see nothing wrong at all about his opening statement. YOU crossed the line by pulling your shirt lower to show him another tattoo. He probably thought you were trying to show off. If I was of his generation I would have had a similar retaliatory statement. You have to think before you act, and if you can't defend something reasonably, be quiet and don't complain.

I would have looked him in the eye and said smiling "these purchases, gee I really don't need them" then smiled at him, left the items on the counter and walked out.

I was at my local gnc this morning, the cashier a man that looked to be in his 60's , commented on one of my tattoos
" Hummmm , a rose! I quess you got that in you WILD days"
Annoyed by his RUDE comment, being that the tattoo was only a couple months old...I lowered my shirt a bit to show him the OLD TATTOO... u know the one from my wild days (lol).
Thinking that I had stopped the rude comments...... he then replys with a ...
" i would never have sex with a woman that had tattoos "
Ummmmmm i know i should respect my elders, but WTF?!?!?!?
I just "THANKED" him and walked out....
What would your reply have been??

Almost anything but yours if my intent was to not encourage him to make more comments. Personally, I think his first comment amounted to nothing more than being friendly, which is what most customers expect. I also think he used good judgment in saying something that would not offend most normal people. Exactly why did you think lowering your shirt to show him another tatoo would do anything but elicit another comment? If by lowering your shirt, you mean showing him your tits, he probably thought you were a hooker propositioning him and was politely declining. If he looked to be in his 60's then his experience with woman when he was your age is quite different than it would be today. If a woman with a tatoo came to my father's office, I could see my him making a comment sinilar to the first one, thinking he was just making conversation about something of which you are obviously enamored. However, in his case, lowering your shirt woud have embarassed the hell out of him and reinforced his preconceptions about women who get tatoos.

If you didn't want comments on your artwork, what was the point of having it done? Do you really think the average person can tell the difference between an old tatoo and one that's a few months old? I can't or at least I've never made the effort to notice.

The world isn't all about you.

i would have reported him to the owner that he was very out of line! he shouldnt even be talking to a customer like that, if he would do that to you then he will get others mad commenting them like that to. so he was way out of line!

"""""""""The world isn't all about you"""""""""
My WORLD is about ME :)

just because i pulled down my shirt doesn't mean i had tits hanging out... nor cleavage....
I had just come from the YMCA ( next to the gnc) i had a biking shirt on and 2 damn sports bras...

because one has body art doesnt mean you can make rude or sexual comments.

Thanks 4 your comments though..... it was extra SPECIAL...LOL

Meh some people are just arseholes either way you look at it. Considering how many people have tattoos now (including women), his chances of having sex with a woman is even lower...although scwhings response is pretty good too.

haha you should have started to undo your belt and ask how he feels about piercings??!?!?!

Ive been involved with such incidents and I am usually extremely quick when firing back.. guns a blazin and love the reaction of some people when you smash what they say to you back in there face and then some and they learn from there mistake.

Again though.. its his choice.. he was probably bored out of his mind.. saw your ta'ta's tattoos and then saw the rest of you and was like blah.. and made the stupid comment.

Some people are like that.
