The police there pull you over for no reason... well maybe the fact that you have a nice car and they want a bribe... They don't wear seatbelts so most cars have a smashed windshield. The cars and trucks are very very old and spew emissions. Of course all the signs are in Belarussian...
Toronto Ontario not so bad... just that the 401 is the busiest highway in North America and the longest skating rink in the winter! Weeeeeeeeeee.........

Posted: 7/7/2008 11:57:59 AM | New Delhi is by far the worst. not only is it a confusing city with very few accurate maps, but obsticles that come out of nowhere people that don't know cars hurt when they hit you, animals, other drivers, bicycles, carts, and large unsafely packed trucks all cram the streets, i even encoutered motorcycles driving through the legs of an elephant to get by.
montreal is pretty bad too, mostly due to different rules and tightly packed streets.
on a side note, shanghai not so bad to drive in.

| what are the worst cities you've driven in? Posted: 7/8/2008 9:29:53 AM | Backwoods Tennessee (not really a city but bad none the less)
Roads are thin, very hilly, a lot of blind corners, and they drive so flippin fast around the corners. It's like driving against the grain at a Nascar event while looking through a periscope.

| what are the worst cities you've driven in? Posted: 7/8/2008 5:55:03 PM | I cannot stand people that do that. They think they are smart and most of the time, they sit in their car, waiting for somebody to let them in than if they would have follow the rules like everybody else. Does it make sense? | |

Posted: 7/8/2008 6:12:26 PM | | I spent a fair amount of time in Mexico , everything and everyone is so laid back and relaxed..untill you put them behind a wheel. At that point its every man for himself . 10 people to a truck is normal , family of 4 on a scooter , no helmets , no signals and stop signs are just meant for leaning on apparently..its crazy

It seems that Atlanta is winning, so far. But, I have heard that Mexico is terrible. Nashville Tenn. Evening rush hour is some what adventurous.
This is a joke, right? No way in hell can Nashville even be in the top 20 for cities with bad traffic. It's a joke here. They actually have a rush hour, and that's it. Just the other day I drove from one side of town to the other at 5:30 and did not get below 40 mph the entire trip. Traffic here might suck if you have never lived elsewhere, but Nashville has GREAT traffic!

| what are the worst cities you've driven in? Posted: 7/19/2008 5:57:42 PM | I was in the service and have driven in just about every major city. I'm from the Chicago area so have no problems with that traffic. I do agree that Atlanta and NY were pretty bad. I have also been in stop and go traffic on the DC beltway and the 405 outside LA. The worst I found was San Francisco. I attributed that to the high number of tourists in the area. Driving on the 101 into San Jose was ALWAYS backed up, whether it was a weekend or weekday, just about any time of day. Although this says worst cities, my favorite cities to drive in have been Boston, Kansas City, and New Orleans. | |

Wait until we get our ice storms, and especially, black ice. It's rock and roll time, if you listen to the early morning reports (snow/ice season), there's several hundred wrecks.

Pristina was worse though. Roads were terrible with lots of congestion.

Syracuse, everyone's just in a rush for some reason or another, and really the whole city is a dump including a lot of people's personalities. A lot of people there are just incredibly rude.
HAHAHA Syracuse? Really? I grew up there so maybe I'm just accustomed to the way people drive there but I've never felt rushed. Maybe YOU drive too slow. Heaven forbid you actually have to drive downstate, you might wet your pants.
As far as people being rude I don't think we're rude we just have shit to do and don't have time for formalities. As far as being a dump, a good portion of the city IE the Northside, Southside, and Westside are poor and scummy looking but downtown, East Syr and the suburbs are pretty nice. Sorry you had such a poor experience in my hometown.
Worst city I've ever driven is a tie between Jersey City and Manhattan. Once you learn that nobody wants to smash their car you can adjust and find yourself cutting into lanes no problem though.

| what are the worst cities you've driven in? Posted: 8/5/2008 6:37:44 PM | Vancouver is pretty harsh with all the construction going on, the 1 highway into the city and only 2 lanes of traffic coming into it.
Rush hour consists of about 4 hours.
To go 1 kilometer will often takes 30 to 40 minutes just to get on the highway into the city.
The west end of Vancouver - near Stanley Park, going into North Van and West Van is very irritating.
2 lanes of traffic which sometimes will go into 1 lane which has to be shared with buses, bikes and skateboarders.
Welcome to crazy trying to get onto the Lion's Gate bridge. The city of Vancouver is surrounded by bridges and by 700 000 cars trying to get around in a city created for only 300 000. Wait till the Olympics come - you think there are parking problems now? HAHAHAHA
Nw York, Chicago and LA have at least 4 lanes.
For those that folks who say that LA or Toronto are hard to get around in - at least they have more than 1 lane...well OK - maybe Toronto does have 1 lane on College or Queen St. - but they have a pretty damn good bus system or subway.
Vancouver - pretty insane.
Surrey, BC - try finding your way out of the mess of one streets that seems to twist and turn and have to drive 5 blocks away to get to the street where you really want to go.

| what are the worst cities you've driven in? Posted: 8/5/2008 7:15:28 PM | Chicago. Got stuck on 80 & 94 during the middle of the day coming from Michigan. Sucked like you wouldn't believe!
Houston. Even at 11 pm driving down I-45 through the city is crowded. God forbid You get stuck in rush hour traffic!
East St. Louis. at night. Don't stop and don't break down. Just keep on driving.
Southern California. One Sunday evening I drove from Big Bear to San Clemente. As soon as I got to the bottom of the mountain from Big Bear and on the interstate it was bumper to bumper traffic for over 100 miles!! WAY too much humanity for me!
Give me an open highway with nobody in front of me any day
