Don't you people get it. They are flattering their users by telling them they are beautiful. It is the old spider and the fly story. You know the one where the spider tricks the fly into the web by telling her how beautiful she is.

I was almost interested in this beautiful people website and then I read you need to pay to be a member and you can apply more than once and I started thinking photoshop, photoshop, photoshop - get the healing brush and blow those blemishes away. | |

I got voted into the US one by a HUGE margin....so I don't know what is wrong with the Canadian site where someone named ****ass and who bends over and shows her panties gets in. LOL. Just shows what some guys think is beautiful. Gives a WHOLE new meaning to the term "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". And I also got into hotenough....so yah. Canadian beautifulpeople.net? Don't know whats wrong with them.
ps. So if people try out and they don't get in, don't sweat it. In any event, there are a ton of people who look amazing in photos and look sub par in real life....ALSO, ultimately, it's not just looks. It's how you carry yourself and your personality. The most amazingly hot guy can looke really good on paper but when you meet him and his attitude doesn't follow, it completely ruins it. Same goes for girls. While I have some friends that are not necessarily the most beautiful people physically...they're attractive but their faces aren't particularly beautiful....yet they would easily outshine women like Heidi Clum b/c of the way they carry themselves. Guys throw themselves under a bus for these girls all the time! | |

I get feedback on being handsome, handsome in an rugged sort of way. No I won't be trying out for the mannequin site. Those women are major upkeep. As if I even could get on. Wonder if they have a height requirement? | |

I have been thinking about that Beautiful People Site and I think that some of the people on there must be a little insecure, because they need a website to validate or confirm their beauty. It makes me think these people must not feel so beautiful inside and I don't think this healthy.
Although, I have to say I don't think all people on that site are like this. JB has been honest about her experiences and in some way they are funny.
I conclude from what JB has said and what I have seen on POF recently is that sex really sells. | |

Some of the girls, I couldn’t even see their face. Who are they to say that someone isn’t good-looking? That can do crazy things for someone’s self esteem and it reinforces a false ideal that beauty is all that matters...and that is crap! As the person above said, on POF, u can add people to your favorites and you have the option of having ur photo be rated. And he was implying that this is the same as beautiful people. But this is not so! B/c nowhere on POF does it categorize an individual into good looking or not good looking enough. Yea...the best looking chicks/dudes get the most hits or one might argue gets the most favorites (even though I have to disagree b/c someone who signed on in 2005 will obviously have more favorites than someone who signed on in 2008 and that has nothing to do with looks)……but there is no one telling someone “oh ur just not good looking enough”…and this could potentially damage a person’s self esteem and that’s the problem I have with sites like BP and Hotenough.com…even though I did get into them! LOL! But I was doing it solely for experimental purposes! LOL | |

Also, the favorites feature is not a reliable measure of attractiveness, because when I see an exceptionally attractive woman with low numbers it tells me this: she just came on the site or she culls non-starters.
Sometimes I ask em. It is always one of the two. If you are unattractive or say, for instance, short, then one needs to compensate with something else. Like being funny. But I don't feel funny. Not today. | |

I just find that funny...b/c here these people are judging and dissing people based on their looks where the owners themselves think they are ugly. I also said I didn't agree with such a narrow criteria and didn't fit it in many ways.

So I really wanted to see what this site was about and what their “concept” of beauty is. To be honest, my friend was of colour so I wanted to see if there was any racial biases on that site….that’s originally why I joined. However, I do not visit the site and my profile is inactive…I don’t have 25 or so bucks a month to waste on that thing. Anyways, if you would read my comments you would see that I have no problem with the concept of the site...i.e. everyone wants someone they are physically attracted to...however, it is the fact that they put people down and categorize people into "ugly" or "not attractive enough" that I disagree with! No one has the right to tell someone that they are not beautiful enough. I personally cannot make anyone so I will not make a person feel insignificant because they don’t fit societies mold of what looks good. In addition, beauty is subjective…what maybe beautiful to some may not be beautiful to others. Also, placing people into such demeaning categories can break a persons self esteem….it also sends the false message that beauty is all that matters! I didn't read what you said so I can't comment on your posts or on why anyone may have put you down based on your opinion! I am sorry you had to experience that.

If a bunch of so called beautiful people on a beautiful people web site decided that I was ugly, my self-esteem would not be broken. I would just think what a bunch of losers and blame it on all my clothing.
This beautiful people site is really begin to sound like a scam. I doubt that the people on that site have any notion of what really beauty is and are just spending 25 dollars a month to raise their self-esteem.
I would like to get onto that site to shake-up people in the forums. Do they have forums? What do they talk about? | |

Well no….you get voted onto the site and then that’s it I think. I haven’t been on so I am not sure. I know that there are discussion groups though….some topics are like some of the ones on here. “What do girls look for in guys and vice versa”. But like I said, I haven’t been on much so I don’t really know much.
